"Luka just LeBroned LeBron. Just fed him some of his own PR medicine" - Skip Bayless says he feels sorry for LeBron James after all the Doncic craze
Even though we are still in the quietness of the offseason, when most NBA players are either grinding away on their craft or relaxing somewhere while watching their favorite horse win a race, the Los Angeles Lakers are once again the talk of the town. And it is all because of Luka Doncic.
First, the Slovenian sensation has shown up in internet clips looking slimmer than ever, while also adding some muscle. Then he ended up on the cover of "Men's Health" magazine. Who would have thought?
And as the cherry on top, the Purple and Gold organization rewarded their new poster boy with a max deal, reportedly three years for $165 million.
All of this led to one very obvious conclusion. One guy suddenly fell down in the Lakers' pecking order, and that guy is LeBron James.
Skip feels sorry for LeBron?
When it comes to LeBron, nobody has been more relentless than Skip Bayless. For years, the outspoken analyst has made a career out of criticizing every move The King makes. Anything James does, good or bad, doesn't go unnoticed. But this time, Bayless surprised everyone by taking things a step further, claiming that he actually feels bad for the all-time leading scorer.
"Allow me to tell you why I now feel sorry for LeBron James," the analyst began his rant. "Luka just LeBroned LeBron. Just fed him some of his own PR medicine, which made LeBron shrink and go quiet and disappear."
To make matters even more interesting, just days ago, in the middle of all this Luka frenzy, James took to social media and posted himself working out in a gym. Not just any gym, but at the Clippers' facility. Not the Lakers, the team that he won a championship with and is still a member of, but their cross-town rivals. You can only imagine how much fuel that "move" added to Bayless' fire.
"Man, that sounded bitter. And I can't blame him. As LeBron posted these pictures, earlier this past week, Luka was in the process of flexing on LeBron the way LeBron has often flexed on so many co-stars of his," Skip continued his barrage.
"Luka, as you know, now went crash diet bootcamping in Croatia and outshaped even LeBron. He got even more ripped than LeBron. I don't know, there may have been even some photoshopping. Luka even did media manipulation on LeBron, the number 1 media manipulator," he pointed out.The Lakers are, as always, gunning for gold
Whether LeBron truly feels slighted by Lakers management for giving Luka the spotlight, or this is just another one of Skip's signature rants that has little to do with reality, remains to be seen. What is clear is that the Lakers seem intent on making serious noise this campaign.
Sure, their front office and fans say that before every season, but this time it feels different. Truth be told, Los Angeles hasn't had a more complete roster since its Bubble Championship. They added a much-needed center in Deandre Ayton and boosted their rotation and defense with the additions of Marcus Smart and Jake LaRavia.
With LeBron and Luka, yes, the duo is still together, steering the ship, it might just be what the doctor ordered for one of the most storied franchises in the Association. If anything, this new dynamic has made the Lakers more interesting than ever, and if Skip is suddenly feeling sorry for LeBron, you know the NBA world is in for a wild ride. This story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Aug 6, 2025, where it first appeared.

Phillies sweep Rangers with Wheeler's strong outing and Sosa's homer
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Zack Wheeler struck out seven and allowed three hits, Edmundo Sosa homered, and the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Texas Rangers 4-2 on Sunday to sweep the three-game series. Wheeler (10-5) had six or more strikeouts for the 19th straight start this season, with his last outing with less than six coming on April 13 when he had three against St. Louis. Trailing 2-0 early, the Phillies answered in the fourth with an RBI double from Bryce Harper. They tied it in the fifth on Sosa's solo homer, and took the lead for good with Weston Wilson's RBI single two batters later. Brandon Marsh added an insurance run with a sacrifice fly that scored Harrison Bader in the ninth inning, and a strong Phillies bullpen performance was capped off by Jhoan Duran's 20th save of the season to secure the win. Duran, acquired from Minnesota on July 30, has allowed just one baserunner in four appearances for Philadelphia. Joc Pederson hit a first-inning two-run homer to give the Rangers the lead. Patrick Corbin (6-8) threw 4 1/3 innings and allowed four hits and three runs. Key moment After the Phillies went ahead 3-2 in top of the fifth, center fielder Harrison Bader protected that lead in the bottom of the inning with a leaping catch to take a home run away from Corey Seager. Bader was reaching above the 6-foot wall in front of the Texas bullpen in right-center when he made the play. Key stat The Phillies are now 49-2 when leading after six innings, and 57-2 when leading after seven, both MLB-best marks. Up next The Phillies continue their 10-game road trip in Cincinnati on Monday, where RHP Taijuan Walker (4-5, 3.53 ERA) starts opposite Reds LHP Andrew Abbott (8-2, 2.34). The Rangers have one more series against the Diamondbacks in their homestand, with Texas RHP Nathan Eovaldi (10-3, 1.38) facing Arizona RHP Ryne Nelson (6-3, 3.20) on Monday. ___ AP MLB: The Associated Press

Christopher Bell: "Frustrated to get our butts kicked" by SVG
In 2025, the two biggest margins of victory belong to Shane van Gisbergen. In Mexico City, he won by 16.567 seconds, and on Sunday, he won at Watkins Glen by 11.116 seconds in another dominant showing. In both races, Christopher Bell was the driver finishing a very distant second as SVG drove off with the checkered flag. 'Happy, yeah. I'm thrilled," said Bell. "We've been struggling a little bit to find a rhythm. I feel like the car has been good, but executing the races has been tough for us. Really awesome to have a good day. Frustrated to get our butts kicked by the 88 car [SVG]. He's doing a really good job. That team has it going on. We need to find a little bit more, but certainly happy. It was a good day for Camry.' Christopher Bell, Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Van Gisbergen has won four of the five road/street course races this year in the Cup Series. The only event he failed to win was Circuit of the Americas back in March. That day, it was Bell in the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota who emerged victorious. At Watkins Glen, Buescher finished third, losing the runner-up spot in the closing moments of the race. But still, it was a huge points day for him as he increased the buffer between himself and the playoff cut-line to 34 points.
