App launched for Jeddah Historic District visitors
JEDDAH: The Ministry of Culture has launched a dedicated app for the Jeddah Historic District, known as Al-Balad, offering innovative interactive services to enrich visitors' experiences and showcase the area's cultural heritage.
The launch is a part of the Historic Jeddah Revitalization Project, sponsored by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.
The project aims to transform Al-Balad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, into a vibrant urban center that reflects its historical spirit and positions it as a global cultural and tourist destination.
The app enables users to plan routes, receive real-time activity alerts, and access historical content to enhance their understanding of the landmarks, according to the SPA.
This initiative supports the ministry's broader efforts to preserve the district's urban heritage and elevate its cultural profile locally and internationally.
The goal is to establish the district as a hub for businesses, cultural initiatives, and entrepreneurs, enhancing its status as an inviting destination for visitors.

Families flock to Baha festivities to beat summer heat this Eid
RIYADH: As temperatures rise across Saudi Arabia, the Baha region has become a popular holiday destination, opening 80 parks, 30 tourist sites, 20 rural farms and 25 heritage locations to attract visitors seeking cooler weather during Eid Al-Adha. The mountainous region's moderate climate has made it appealing to families and young travelers looking to escape the heat affecting other parts of the Kingdom during the holiday, a Saudi Press Agency report said. Ali Al-Sawat, mayor of Baha, outlined preparations for the expected visitor increase. Municipal teams carried out maintenance of public facilities, upgraded lighting, improved landscaping, enhanced main roads and public squares, installed interactive displays and sculptures, and supported volunteer teams. Authorities stepped up cleaning and environmental health efforts while increasing monitoring of food establishments, Al-Sawat said. The holiday program includes more than 50 cultural, entertainment, community events and volunteer initiatives, such as gift and flower distributions, children's theater performances at Raghdan, Al-Hussam and Al-Hawiya parks, digital displays, charity visits to the elderly and patients, appearances by cartoon characters, and volunteer support for organization, cleaning and pilgrims. In a gesture to Hajj pilgrims, authorities will distribute 3,000 roses and umbrellas in Baha, each with QR codes linking to pilgrimage guidance developed with regional Hajj coordination offices. The region's 20 rural farms attract families with recreational facilities set in agricultural environments, the SPA reported. Fahd Al-Zahrani, regional director of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, said that his office regulated and supported these farms, issued licenses for rural lodges according to regulations, and helped operators to access government programs, including the Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development initiative. Baha's 25 architectural heritage sites highlight the national identity by showcasing ancient civilizations and contribute to the local economy. These sites continue to attract domestic and international visitors interested in Saudi Arabia's cultural heritage, the SPA added.

Hajj 2025: Saudi Crown Prince Lauds Success in Pilgrims Service
The Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, has praised the Kingdom's efforts in serving pilgrims during the Hajj season 2025, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). On the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, the Saudi Crown Prince on Friday greeted citizens, residents and pilgrims on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. During his speech, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman lauded the continued efforts of the Saudi authorities in serving the Two Holy Mosques, the Holy Sites, and their guests, which led to the success of the Hajj season. He praised the employees of various government sectors, as well as male and female volunteers, for implementing the Saudi State's policies to ensure a safe and peaceful Hajj experience for all pilgrims. Moreover, the Saudi Crown Prince reiterated the Kingdom's commitment to exerting all efforts to ensure the comfort of pilgrims. The Crown Prince's remarks came during a reception at the Royal Court in Mina Palace, where he received the Pakistani Prime Minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif; Saudi Arabia's Grand Mufti; senior scholars; several princes; and high-ranking officials from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Saudi transport minister tours Hajj shuttle service for pilgrims
RIYADH: As Hajj rituals continue to take place in the holy sites in Makkah, Saudi Arabia's transport minister on Friday night toured a shuttle bus service used to move pilgrims from Mina to the Grand Mosque in Makkah. Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al-Jasser inspected the shuttle station west of the Jamarat complex, as pilgrims attempt to complete the Tawaf al-Ifadah inside the holy mosque in Makkah. The services uses a dedicated lane to transport approximately 20,000 passengers per hour on 100 busses on the short 20 minute journey northward to the Ground Mosque. The minister's visit is part of Saudi Arabia's efforts to ensure the quality of services provided to pilgrims, a report on the Saudi Press Agency said. Over 1.6 million pilgrims are taking part in this year's Hajj, which is an annual event and a key pillar of Islam. Saudi authorities have said the event has been a success with various ministries and state institutions taking part in ensuring the safety and timely provision of services to pilgrims. In an address on Friday, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said: 'The continued success we witnessed today in serving the Guests of God is the result of our blessed country's efforts in serving the Two Holy Mosques, the holy sites and their visitors.' The pilgrims, who are affectionately reffered to as the Guests of Allah, are encamped in the tent city of Mina and will be performing the 'stoning of the devil' ritual at the Jamarat over the next few days. They spent Thursday standing at the plain of Arafat, an act considered as the climax of Hajj, supplicating and asking forgiveness from Allah. On Friday, Muslims across the globe marked Eid Al-Adha, which is always celebrated the day after Arafat.
