‘Americans should know that…': Iran's Khamenei warns Trump of ‘irreparable damage' in event of US strike

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a stern warning on Wednesday in response to US President Donald Trump's demand for Iran to surrender unconditionally. Khamenei cautioned that any military action by the United States would result in "serious and irreparable consequences."
In a message posted on X, Khamenei stated, "Those familiar with Iran's history would never address this nation with threats, as the Iranian people will never surrender. The Americans must understand that any military intervention will inflict irreversible damage."
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in power since 1989 and the final arbiter of all matters of state in Iran, has made few public pronouncements since Israel launched its assault on Friday.
Will not surrender, said a resolute Iran's Supreme Leader in response to Donald Trump's demand of unconditional surrender.
Donald Trump on Tuesday said Iran's Khamenei was 'an easy target' for the US and Israel, he then ramped up his demands on Truth Social: 'UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!'
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump is growing increasingly warm to using US military assets to strike Iranian nuclear facilities and souring on the idea of a diplomatic solution to end Tehran's escalating conflict with Israel, two officials familiar with the ongoing discussions told CNN.
The new, more hawkish posture represents a significant shift in Trump's thinking, though the sources said Trump remains open to a diplomatic solution — if Iran makes significant concessions.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had issued a sharp warning to Israel on Tuesday, declaring that the country 'will be punished for its mistake,' according to a live broadcast of his address reported by Mehr News Agency.
While Khamenei did not specify the nature of the 'mistake,' his comments signal a strong retaliatory stance from Tehran.
'The Zionist regime must know that the era of hit-and-run is over,' Khamenei said. 'They will be punished for the crime they have committed.'
Khamenei said in a post on X: 'In the name of the noble Haidar, the battle begins.' Haidar is a name often used for Ali, who Shia Muslims consider the first Imam and successor to the prophet Mohammed.
Iran's leader also posted on his English-language X account 'We must give a strong response to the terrorist Zionist regime. We will show the Zionists no mercy,' Khamenei.
Air defenses are repelling projectiles over Tehran after Israel's air force said it was carrying out strikes on the Iranian capital. Israelis were also warned about incoming Iranian missiles, and explosions were heard in Tel Aviv. See photos of the escalating conflict's impact.

Russia, UAE urge immediate halt to Israel-Iran conflict; offer diplomatic mediation

Russia and the United Arab Emirates have jointly called for an immediate ceasefire in the escalating Israel-Iran conflict and emphasized the urgent need for diplomatic solutions, particularly concerning Tehran's nuclear program. The Kremlin confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the crisis in a phone call with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Both leaders underlined the necessity of halting hostilities and intensifying political dialogue to defuse tensions. "The imperative of an early cessation of hostilities and intensification of political and diplomatic efforts in the interests of resolving controversial issues related to the Iranian nuclear programme was emphasised," read a Kremlin statement. President Putin also reiterated Russia's willingness to mediate dialogue between Israel and Iran and briefed the UAE leader on ongoing discussions with other world leaders. The situation in West Asia has sharply deteriorated over the past week, with Israeli and Iranian forces engaged in direct conflict for a sixth consecutive day. The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned that the threat of nuclear escalation in the region is no longer theoretical. 'All this leads not just to escalation, but to a direct threat to the region and the world because attacks are being carried out on peaceful atomic or nuclear facilities,' said Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova in a radio interview. She affirmed Tehran's right to maintain peaceful nuclear installations, which are reportedly under attack. The conflict intensified after Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, targeting Iran's nuclear, missile, and military infrastructure. In response, Iran fired around 30 ballistic missiles at Israel in two waves overnight. The Israeli military confirmed the strikes, adding that most projectiles were intercepted and no injuries were reported. Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin said the Israeli Air Force has hit more than 1,100 Iranian targets since last Friday. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the country's objectives are twofold: halting Iran's nuclear advancement and dismantling its missile capabilities. The international community continues to express concern as fears mount over a broader regional conflict and the potential targeting of nuclear facilities.

‘Don't Want An Open-Ended War': Israeli Minister Cites ‘Double Existential Threat' From Iran

Last Updated: Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa'ar asserted that there are no negotiations with the Iranian regime and Israel is focussed on dismantling Tehran's elimination plan. Israel said that it has launched aerial strikes on Iran targeting nuclear and military infrastructure to eliminate a double existential threat. While speaking exclusively to CNN-News18, Israel Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar said that Tehran's nuclear and ballistic missile programmes are posing a significant threat to Israel. He said that Iran has a strategic plan to eliminate Israel, and Israel cannot and will not accept the threat of extermination. 'We came very close to Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon — we cannot allow that to happen. This is a country that has publicly declared its intent to eliminate Israel," Sa'ar said. The Israeli minister further said that the Netanyahu government took a last-minute decision to pound missiles at Iran as Tehran was aiming to mass-produce ballistic missiles which was an unbearable threat for Tel Aviv. Since the beginning of the fighting between the two countries since June 13, Israel's prime goal has been to foil Iran's nuclear ambitions. Apart from that, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said, they also want to neutralise Iran's missile production and attack capabilities. Sa'ar further asserted that there are no negotiations with the Iranian regime and Israel is focussed on dismantling Tehran's elimination plan, nuclear ambitions, and missile programme. 'We know what targets we want to hit. The mission will be completed when those are achieved. We have a clear plan. We do not intend to fight an open-ended war," he said. 'We have suffered casualties. This criminal regime is targeting civilian centres, killing children and innocent people. They are deliberately attacking civilians. The will of the Israeli people is strong. The Opposition also supports this operation," he said. He further vowed that the Israeli people are strong and stand united behind the operation. Israel-Iran Conflict The Middle-East is bracing for a protracted conflict following Israel's surprise bombardment of Iranian nuclear and military sites on Friday, which resulted in the deaths of several top generals and nuclear scientists. The conflict entered its sixth day today with both sides intensifying attacks and pounding strikes at each other. Earlier today, the conflict intensified further after the hostilities continued. Explosions were heard in Tehran today as intense Israeli airstrikes again targeted Iran's capital, including Tehran's District 18 area, near the Mehrabad airport. Loud blasts were heard and at least five columns of smoke were visible in the east and southeast regions of the Iranian capital, news agency AFP reported. Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned Israel of 'dire consequences" and said that Tehran will harshly retaliate against Israel's attacks. In a first television address to the nation after the latest conflict, the supreme leader asserted that Tehran will not surrender or accept an imposed peace or war. 'The Zionist regime made a big mistake and will be punished for its actions. Our people will not spare the blood of their martyrs and will not stop violating their country's airspace," he said. He further gave a message to the United States saying that Iran will not surrender and further warned that any US strike will have serious irreparable consequences. Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the air force has hit more than 1,100 Iranian assets in hundreds of strikes when it launched Operation Rising Lion on June 13.
