A busy Women's College World Series continued on Saturday with two thrilling games. A pair of narrow wins, both upsets, kept Texas and Texas Tech flying high, while UCLA and Oklahoma find themselves in some hot water.
Texas 4, Oklahoma 2
Suddenly, the road to a fifth straight NCAA softball title for Oklahoma got steeper. The No. 2-seeded Sooners were defeated 4-2 by No. 6 Texas on Saturday in a matchup of two of the top teams in the country.

It was the first time Texas had beaten the Sooners in the state of Oklahoma since 2011 — and its first victory over OU in the women's CWS. The Sooners beat the Longhorns in the 2022 and 2024 CWS finals.
The Longhorns struck first with two runs in the first inning. Sophomore outfielder Kayden Henry got the first run by stealing second and later stealing home.
Oklahoma came alive in the second inning, scoring two of its own and capitalizing on a Texas error.
That changed in the fifth inning, when Texas took a 3-2 lead on a solo homer from Henry.
Texas added to its lead with another solo homer in the sixth inning, this time from first baseman Joley Mitchell.

Oklahoma had one more chance to rally, but Longhorns ace Teagan Kavan struck out the final two batters to close out the complete game and finish with eight strikeouts.
Texas Tech 3, UCLA 1
It was another defense-heavy win for No. 12 Texas Tech, which defeated No. 9 UCLA with a victory that came down to the final innings.
After four scoreless frames, the Red Raiders finally broke the drought in wild fashion: by stealing home plate. Pinch runner Makayla Garcia pulled off the steal to give Texas Tech the lead in the fifth inning.
The Bruins quickly hit back, with shortstop Kaniya Bragg hitting a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth. But another solo homer, this time from Red Raiders shortstop Hailey Toney, gave Texas Tech the lead in the sixth.

The Red Raiders iced the win in the seventh with another run. The victory was buoyed by Texas Tech ace Nijaree Canady, who notched seven strikeouts — including one in the final inning — while pitching the complete seven innings.
UCLA and Oklahoma will have one more chance to stay alive, playing Tennessee and Oregon, respectively, in win-or-go-home elimination games. Texas and Texas Tech, meanwhile, advanced to the semifinals where they will play the winners of those games.

Panthers Reveal Big Injury Update Ahead of Stanley Cup Final

Panthers Reveal Big Injury Update Ahead of Stanley Cup Final originally appeared on Athlon Sports. As the Florida Panthers get ready for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Edmonton Oilers, the team could be getting back some skaters. Forwards Eetu Luostarinen, Anton Lundell, and A.J. Greer did not practice with the team on Saturday, but head coach Paul Maurice isn't worried. Advertisement "I think the only question mark is Greer," Maurice said. "We will list him as day to day. The other guys are fine. They'll be back on the ice tomorrow when we do a little bit of an optional." This would be massive for the Panthers, who have been dealing with some injuries to the depth of the roster. Luostarinen and Greer were each injured in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Carolina Hurricanes. Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice on the ice after the third period and and win against the Carolina Hurricanes in game five of the Eastern Conference Final of the 2025 Stanley Cup Guillory-Imagn Images Florida battled some depth issues down the stretch of the series with Carolina, but could be getting back the pieces for this championship match. The Panthers are looking to repeat as champions and are hoping that they can have a similar result to last year. Advertisement "I will say, we will have more energy for this series than any of the three prior," Maurice said. "I am sure that's true for Edmonton as well. The regular season was more of a grind for us than either of the two previous. Then, in each round, there is a bigger build to excitement just because there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The Stanley Cup Final between the two teams is set to begin on Wednesday, June 4, at 8 p.m. ET. Ducks, Senators Named in Potential Jason Robertson Stars Trade: Report

Ducks, Senators Named in Potential Jason Robertson Stars Trade: Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After another loss in the Western Conference Final, the Dallas Stars will enter the offseason searching for answers. This could see Dallas take things in multiple different directions, and potentially mean that some drastic roster moves are made. Advertisement The Stars have a lot of talent on the roster, but it may be time to shake things up. In fact, it seems that Dallas could be looking to make a big move this summer. According to insider Rick Dhaliwal, the Stars may be looking to trade away star Jason Robertson. During his radio show, "Donnie and Dhali", Dhaliwal mentioned that Robertson's name is being talked about in trade circles. This also comes after a report from Jeff Marek of The Daily Faceoff speculating if Dallas could look to move on from Robertson. "Could the Stars move someone like Jason Robertson, who has one more year on his deal at an incredible $7.75 million value, to try to recoup Draft capital and free up cap space to once again go big-game hunting in the summer? If so, I'd watch the Ottawa Senators and Anaheim Ducks as possible destinations." Advertisement Both Anaheim and Ottawa make sense for Robertson if he is moved. This is especially true for Anaheim, as it needs more scoring and could present an enticing offer for Dallas to consider. Dallas Stars left wing Jason Robertson (21) gets set face off against the Edmonton Oilers during the second period in game five of the Western Conference Final of the 2025 Stanley Cup Miron-Imagn Images If the Stars did move on from Robertson, it would be one of the biggest moves of the offseason. Robertson has been very solid for Dallas and is one of the better players across the NHL. Last season, he scored 35 goals and 45 assists for the Stars during the regular season. Robertson could be a legitimate weapon for any team, and there will likely be a bidding war for his services if he is made available.
