Hull City Ladies' future unclear amid club probe
Hull City Ladies played their final game of the season on Sunday, unsure what the future holds.
The 1-1 home draw against Rugby Borough was secured against the backdrop of a police investigation into suspected financial fraud at the club.
Humberside Police confirmed its economic crime unit was exploring several lines of inquiry after being contacted earlier this month. The Football Association is currently working with the club.
Player Hope Knight, who has been with the team for three seasons, said: "At the team huddle [at half-time], the message was simple, 'this could be our last 45 minutes of Hull City', and it really does get to you."
She added: "It's difficult because we give everything - blood sweat and tears to play for this club and we don't know what's happening next season.
"We're fighting. We're fighting so hard to be here."
Supporter Molly Oxley regularly attends the matches and is also worried about what the club could look like next season.
She said: "I feel upset and frustrated as they've built up such a great team in the years that I've been watching them."
The club was founded in 2001 and play their home games at Barton Town FC. They are not associated with Hull City AFC.
Sunday's draw sealed an eighth-place finish in the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division.
Police are appealing for anyone who thinks they might have useful information to get in touch.

Police launch investigation into NHS hospital heart op deaths
Police are investigating the deaths of patients who lost their lives following heart operations at an NHS hospital. A report by the BBC suggests patients at Castle Hill Hospital near Hull suffered avoidable harm, and alleges that in some cases, death certificates failed to disclose that the surgery contributed to deaths. Humberside Police confirmed to the PA news agency that an investigation into the deaths is in its very early stages and no arrests have been made. Documents seen by the BBC raise concerns about the care of 11 patients who underwent transcatheter aortic valve implantation, which is known as a TAVI procedure. It usually takes between one and two hours and is performed on older patients. TAVI is used to replace damaged valves in the heart in people with aortic stenosis, which causes the aortic valve to narrow. It is less invasive than open heart surgery and involves guiding a new valve to the heart through a thin, flexible tube known as a catheter through a blood vessel in the groin or shoulder. Concerns about Castle Hill Hospital's TAVI mortality rate led to a number of reviews, none of which were made public, according to the BBC. The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) was asked to assess the whole cardiology department in 2020, including two of the TAVI deaths. The report was completed in 2021 and led to a second review by consultants IQ4U. This recommended a third review of all 11 deaths, which was carried out by the RCP and completed last year, reports suggest. Some 10 deaths happened between October 2019 and March 2022 while one took place in May 2023. The final review highlighted poor clinical decision-making in one male patient, which included the incorrect positioning of the TAVI valve. His death certificate also failed to include an accurate description of what had happened, it was reported. There were also criticisms of death certificates issued to two other patients, claiming crucial details were missing. A spokesperson for NHS Humber Health Care Partnership said the hospital's TAVI service 'retains the confidence of the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the regional Integrated Care Board (ICB), the Royal College of Physicians, and the trust'. They added that the three separate external reviews have 'shown that mortality rates associated with TAVI are similar to national mortality rates over a four-year period'. 'The Royal College report concluded that the TAVI service is essential for the Humber and North Yorkshire region and needs to be expanded,' they added. 'It stated however that the design of the service should be reviewed and invested in. The report offered a number of actions for improvement and we have delivered against all of those since it was shared with us. 'A key improvement has been the dramatic reduction in the length of time patients wait to have their TAVI procedure, which was shown in the Royal College report to have been too long, like many other TAVI services across England.' The spokesperson said: 'We would never discuss an individual patient case in the public domain but we understand families may have questions and we are happy to answer those directly. 'We have previously written to families who have lost a loved one following TAVI treatment with an invitation to meet and discuss the specific circumstances of their case, and we would reiterate that offer.'

Police investigate alleged attack after fox death
An investigation is under way into a report that a fox was attacked after being hit by a car. A vehicle is said to have hit the animal on Dorchester Road, Hull, at about 22:50 BST on Saturday. Humberside Police said it received a report that, soon afterwards, another motorist removed the fox from the middle of the road and tried to kill it. The force said "a volunteer from a wildlife rescue group attended and the fox was subsequently transported to the vets", but it died. A spokesperson for Hull Wildlife Protectors said it was "deeply disturbed" by the incident, which happened near the junction with Ilchester Close. They said it was contacted by a member of the public who remained at the scene until volunteers arrived. When they got there, the "visibly upset" caller told them that some people had got out of the vehicle and dragged the fox off the road by its hind legs. One of them got a knife from the vehicle before cutting the fox's throat and leaving the scene, the wildlife group said it was told. The spokesperson said: "Despite this brutal action, the fox was still alive when HWP volunteers arrived." The animal died on the way to a veterinary surgery. The BBC has been shown video footage of a fox with what appears to be a large wound to its throat. Police are appealing for witnesses or people with footage to get in touch with them. Newcastle United midfielder Greenwood announces departure
Newcastle United midfielder Hannah Greenwood has announced the news that she will be leaving the club this summer. The player confirmed her scheduled departure via a post on her personal X account late last night. Advertisement Greenwood spent the early days of her career with Durham. She represented both Durham Cestria and Durham's professional side before joining latest club Newcastle United in summer 2023. The midfielder won the 2023/2024 FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division title before helping The Magpies to establish themselves in the second tier this term. Announcing her Newcastle United departure, Greenwood said 'My time at Newcastle United has come to an end. I've felt it's probably the right time to leave for a while now and to look for a new exciting opportunity elsewhere, so I can continue to improve and develop as a player. 'The past two seasons have been a crazy unforgettable whirlwind, one where I have developed a lot in many ways and a time where I have made truly special memories with a great bunch of girls who welcomed me in with open arms and made me feel at home straight away. We've achieved so much along the way that I couldn't have ever imagined, trail-blazed and smashed records. 'I've been unbelievably fortunate enough to have made several really special friends for life during my time here, for which I'll be forever grateful to Newcastle for signing me and enabling me to meet all these amazing people.
