'Next-level adventures' and stand-up comedy to be showcased at scenic Eryri quarry
A scenic slate quarry on the edge of Eryri is to open its gates to the public this month. For 10 days from June 17, visitors can enter free of charge to get a flavour of the innovations and experiences planned there.
Operators of Vivian Quarry, Llanberis, say they are introducing new technologies to bring 'next-level adventures' to the site. These include a 'world-first' underwater museum and an escape room in the 19 metre-deep lake created when the quarry flooded.
Details have yet to be released but both activities will cater for visitors as young as 10. The operator, Scuba Scape, is promising 'immersive technology' to get people into the water, with museum concept images showing 'divers' walking along a submerged gangway in the lake.
The company said: 'With significant investments made to enhance the site, Vivian Quarry is poised to become the flagship destination for world-first, ground-breaking technology set to roll out globally.' Vivian's new attractions are due to open from early July.
An eclectic range of other activities also also planned as part of the site's development, including comedy nights, workshops and concerts.
Scuba Scape said it aim to provide opportunities for relaxation, solitude and 'connection with family and friends'. The company added: 'These enriching experiences are designed to ground visitors and create lasting memories.'
Katie Gill, operations manager, said people coming to the open days be the first to learn about the attractions – and will be able book slots.
Katie hopes the local community will quickly start 'making this space their own' and enjoy all that it has to offer.
'So much love, care, and commitment to heritage has gone into this site. It's amazing that North Wales gets to be the flagship site, which is a testament to how special, unique, and deserving this incredible part of Wales truly is.'
Vivian was part of the sprawling Dinorwic slate complex that was worked from 1787. Since closing in 1960, rain and underwater springs covered the site's old buildings and mining equipment, turning it into a time capsule for an industry that once roofed the world.
Submerged below are old stone blast huts, decaying mining trucks and more.
Experienced divers have been able to explore the quarry lake but it's now hoped this lost world can be opened up to visitors without specialist scuba diving knowledge.
In a nod to the site's mining heritage, a winch machine weighing more than 10 tonnes has been rescued and relocated within the quarry.
Katie also happens to be resident MC of Vivian's upcoming monthly comedy nights, starting on Friday, June 20. She said: 'Comedy is my love language; laughing with people is the most beautiful connection.
'To get to bring that to this site that envelops you is a wonderful opportunity. And if it doesn't go well, I can throw myself in the water!' Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter sent twice daily to your inbox
Dinorwic Quarry is currently closed off to the public while firming takes place for season three of House of The Dragon. There's more on this here.

Katie Price sends son Harvey back to college early after he 'smashes' £3k TV
Katie Price previously revealed that Harvey is "on the verge of a heart attack" after tipping the scales at 30 stone Katie Price has revealed that her son Harvey had to return to college earlier than planned after he wrecked her telly. The ex-glamour model took to Snapchat to recount the episode in which her eldest boy "smashed" the £3,000 set. Harvey, aged 23, left his mum gobsmacked when his tantrum resulted in the need for a fresh TV. The mother of five relayed the tale to her social media fans before explaining to her son the repercussions of his behaviour. In the video, Katie captured Harvey, who is visually impaired due to septo-optic dysplasia, a brain development disorder, and also has autism and Prader-Willi Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that can lead to overeating. She described being roused by the noise of the telly breaking at six in the morning. In the footage, Katie, 47, enquired: "What has mummy just heard?" To which Harvey calmly responded: "Smashing the TV." Asking more about what happened, Harvey claimed something on the screen had annoyed him. However, she later expressed scepticism to her followers, saying nothing was probably on the screen at the time, reports the Mirror. Katie then informed Harvey: "You was going to college tomorrow to get some new meds [medication], but now when are you going? You are going now." A downcast Harvey uttered: "Oh god," as his mum clarified that she needed to send him back so she could sort out a new telly for the house. She labelled the whole scenario as "sad". Later, Harvey said sorry to the former glamour model and promised it wouldn't occur again. Katie insisted to her son: "Well you've got to go to collage now and get some meds." Katie commemorated Harvey's 23rd birthday last month with a heartfelt display of affection. She posted a lovely snapshot on Instagram showing her and Harvey cosying up in bed before his birthday festivities. On Bank Holiday Monday, Katie shared her delight over Harvey reaching another milestone on her Instagram stories. The charming post featured the pair lying cheek-to-cheek in bed, having a leisurely day relaxing at home. Brimming with anticipation for the celebration ahead, Katie said: "Bank holiday cuddles before lots of celebrations tomorrow." It comes amid Katie's transparency about Harvey's escalating health issues as he tipped the scales at 30 stone. In a frank conversation with her sister Sophie on The Katie Price Show, Katie did not shy away from discussing the gravity of their circumstances. "He's just under 30st and that's huge," she disclosed. "He's on the verge of a heart attack. He won't have a long life if he carries on putting more and more weight on." Katie then revealed that they are actively collaborating with a medical team to attempt to improve his health. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Katie Price declares 'Jordan is back' as alter-ego helps up bag huge AI deal
Former glamour model has signed a deal with American firm OhChat to revive her old alter-ego Jordan by creating an AI version of her - and it will be out tomorrow Katie Price is officially bringing back her old alter-ego Jordan while becoming the first British celebrity to trademark an artificial intelligence version of herself. The 47-year-old reality TV star has signed a deal with American firm OhChat, which describes itself as "the leading platform to live out your uncensored dreams through AI-powered text, voice and images." As part of the agreement, the mum-of-five had to record 30 phrases to say so that the company could develop an AI version of her. Promotional videos shared on social media including YouTube and Instagram show Jordan - her former glamour modelling persona - saying in a voice similar to Katie's: "It's Jordan here. No more looking at those cheeky mags." After confirming that the launch date is tomorrow, June 9, she promises fans: "You can have me all for yourself." The launch comes months after rumours began spreading that Katie was hoping to revive Jordan in a bid to emulate the early days of her career when she was best known for topless modelling. Katie has now described the Jordan days as the best of her life and said that the AI deal is "a genius move" and can make her "feel like her again." She told The Sun: "Jordan's back and now I'm in competition with Jordan. I love it and they've really captured my voice and personality - you see me moving and everything. It's scarily weird but fascinating." Katie added: "I couldn't be more excited to bring back the iconic Jordan, someone who I hold near and dear to my heart, and who my fans have been asking to see again. From my digital twin styling to its tone of voice, I wanted to be involved every step of the way to create the most authentic experience possible for my fans. Jordan is back, and my fans will absolutely love this." Meanwhile, a source told the newspaper that using AI allows Katie to "go back in time and bring back Jordan." The insider explained that she owns copyright but the deal allows her image to be used for anything from TV shows to OnlyFans - but she doesn't need to do it by herself, as it's all done for her. According to the source, Kate is also planning to do a photoshoot standing next to Jordan - and even do a TV special where she interviews her alter ego. Describing the new business venture, the insider said it is "all really exciting, if a bit surreal." We reported on rumours that Katie was looking to revive Jordan in a bid to regain her fortune back in September 2024. The former model was a prominent figure in the UK's glamour scene in the 1990s, amassing an estimated £45million fortune. However, her career and finances have declined in recent years, with Katie being declared bankrupt twice. At the time, sources said Katie believed that returning to her old-day job roots will bring in the money. A source told The Sun last year: "Katie is desperate to go back to the glory days and is convinced a return to her glamour modelling roots will make it happen." However, the insider added: "But she doesn't seem to understand that times have changed and there isn't an audience for Jordan these days." In the 1990s and early 2000s, Katie appeared on the covers of various magazines, including Loaded, Maxim, FHM, and American Playboy. She "retired" the Jordan persona after meeting her first husband, Peter Andre, in the I'm a Celebrity jungle in 2004. Katie shifted her focus to launching novels, beauty products, fragrances and electricals. After three divorces, Katie has found it challenging to sustain a career that once saw everything she touched turn into gold. In 2019, Katie was first declared bankrupt, owing creditors £3.2million, and then again last year due to an unpaid tax bill of £760,000. Her Mucky Mansion near Horsham, West Sussex, was repossessed after she failed to meet mortgage repayments, and she has been instructed to pay 40 per cent of her earnings to creditors.

They include 'I like going horse riding,' and 'this week for dinner I've got beef burgers'. Katie told The Sun: 'The Jordan days were the best days of my life. 'This AI move is so clever. It's a genius move. "It's also a way for me to feel like her again. "Jordan's back and now I'm in competition with Jordan. 'I love it and they've really captured my voice and personality — you see me moving and everything. "It's scarily weird but fascinating.' The Sun gave Katie her big break in 1996 when she appeared as Jordan on Page 3. From then on she dominated lads' mags and had her first boob job at the age of 20. Katie Price sparks concern with her skinny frame as she performs on stage in tiny bodysuit She has since kept reinventing her look, reportedly having a further 16 breast surgeries — both enlargements and reductions. Katie has been teasing today's launch of her digital twin with a daily countdown on social media for the last few days. She said: 'I couldn't be more excited to bring back the iconic Jordan, someone who I hold near and dear to my heart, and who my fans have been asking to see again. 'From my digital twin's styling to its tone of voice, I wanted to be involved every step of the way to create the most authentic experience possible for my fans. 'Jordan is back, and my fans will absolutely love this.' Last night a source said: 'This is a brilliant, game-changing bit of business from Katie. 'By using AI, she can quite effectively go back in time and bring back Jordan. 'She owns her own copyright but has done a deal which means her image can be used for anything from TV shows to Only Fans — and she doesn't have to do anything, it's all done for her. 'It's incredibly canny. Carmen Electra has done it Stateside and she stands to make millions. 'The plan is to do a photo shoot, Kate standing next to Jordan, and then she's been approached to do a TV special whereby she interviews her younger self.
