Earlier this month, it was revealed that King Charles had decided to "postpone" a major milestone for Kate Middleton and Prince William. Now, a royal expert has opened up about the monarch's decision, elaborating on why Charles has yet to make Kate and William grantors of royal warrants.
Certain members of the Royal Family are given the power to award royal warrants, essentially giving their seal of approval to brands and services. "A Royal Warrant of Appointment is a document that permits a company to use the Royal Arms in connection with its business," the Royal Family's official website explains. "It is granted for up to five years at a time as a mark of recognition for the ongoing supply of goods or services traded with and used by the Households of HM The King and HM The Queen."
As for why Charles hasn't given Kate and William permission to award royal warrants, royal expert and author Robert Jobson said during an appearance on Hello! magazine's "A Right Royal" podcast, "There's been a delay. There's always a bit of a delay."
Jobson continued, "Remember that we haven't seen a transition in the Crown for some time, so we've had to deal with The King and The Queen first. That's taken some time because they have to go through all sorts of stringent tests and I think that it will happen in due course, but it's just that we're going through The King and Queen first, and you don't just get awarded a royal warrant, it's a lot involved."
Hello! magazine's royal editor, Emily Nash, said on the podcast, "There hasn't been a Princess of Wales who's been able to issue warrants for about a century, really. So it will be quite a change just from that respect anyway, as and when it happens."
While the eventual appointment will be an important step for Prince William and Princess Kate, it's unlikely a "priority" for the couple right now, according to Hello! magazine's royal experts.

‘I Didn't Know.' One Thing Miley Cyrus Wishes She Could Go Back And Change About Hannah Montana's Later Years

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Nearly 20 years after it premiered, Hannah Montana remains a pop culture favorite among fans that can be rewatched with a Disney+ subscription. Its impact on the entertainment industry turned Miley Cyrus into the youngest celeb inducted as a Disney Legend. Despite going through her many different eras and struggling with fame after the show ended, both Hannah Montana and the Hannah persona still mean a lot to the 'Something Beautiful' singer, but there is still at least one thing Cyrus would change about the Disney show. One of the best things about Hannah Montana, if not the best thing, is Miley Cyrus' talents as a singer and performer IRL. Not only did Cyrus put on the wig and outfits and perform actual concerts, but she also had a hand in writing some of Hannah's biggest hits. She was inspired to lend more of her voice after her attempts to maturate the character went unfulfilled. Speaking on the podcast Every Single Album, Cyrus said she now wishes she'd been just as quick to make sure her contributions were legally recognized. In her words: I didn't know to like ask for songwriting credit because I didn't even know because I'm like, well, it's going to say 'Hannah Montana' and I'm Hannah Montana, so that's enough credit for me. But now I'm like, I should have really had more credit in there because I was shaping that whole identity of the thing. And a lot of the songs were written off experiences that I was having. Fans of Hannah Montana know that there are some very personal songs, and although Cyrus shared that some tracks are 'episodic' in that they work for a specific episode or storyline, there are certainly others that more directly reflect her personal life. Her initial reasoning for not pushing for songwriting credits makes sense, since she was just a child star trying to succeed, and naively believed that portraying Hannah Montana was simply enough. Which is part of the reason why Meet Miley Cyrus was a thing. The character's second album, aptly named Hannah Montana 2, was a double album that also featured 10 songs sung by Cyrus as herself. The songs were inspired by a breakup, and she was truly able to be herself and have songwriting credits. But it gave fans just a taste of who she really is, and although Hannah was never able to veer into more mature storytelling with those songs' lyrics, Cyrus putting out her own music gave her that form of expression. Regardless of Hannah Montana's clean-cut image and Miley Cyrus trying her best to give her a mature edge, she has proven time and time again that the experience meant the world to her. She even shared an emotional letter on the show's 15th anniversary, showing that she will always be Hannah. It's hard to believe that several actresses nearly earned the lead role in Hannah Montana, such as Lucy Hale and Aly Michalka, and it's equally hard to imagine how different things would have been had Cyrus not won the executives over. It would have been nice to see a more mature Hannah from the start, but perhaps a reboot will come together in the future that finally gives the actress the chance, even if it's not part of the 2025 TV schedule.

Princess Charlene and Prince Albert's Twins Steal the Show as They Mark Major Royal Milestone

Twins Crown Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella recently turned the landmark age of 10 years old. The two have had many first lately, ranging from their first Holy Communion to a major royal milestone over the weekend. Jacques and Gabriella took part alongside their parents Princess Charlene and Prince Albert in a state visit with French president Emmanuel Macron and his wife, First Lady Brigitte Macron, on June turning the milestone age of 10 last December, twins Crown Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella of Monaco continue to achieve royal firsts—and accomplished another one this week alongside their parents Prince Albert and Princess Charlene. On June 7, the twins were on hand to welcome the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, and his wife Brigitte Macron for the Macrons' state visit to Monaco—the first time, per Hello!, that the royal children had taken part in a state visit. The Macrons sweetly chatted with Jacques and Gabriella, and Gabriella thoughtfully presented flowers to the First Lady upon her arrival. The French couple is in Monaco to bolster the 'strong ties' between France and Monaco, Hello! reported. For the occasion Saturday, Charlene understood the assignment and wore a mint Dior jacket and a pair of tan trousers, and later changed to a stunning red gown for a state dinner in the Throne Room of their palace in Monte Carlo. Per Vanity Fair, this was the first time that the royal family of Monaco hosted a state dinner with a French leader in more than 40 years. Though Jacques and Gabriella were present earlier in the day, they didn't attend the state dinner alongside their parents. When speaking to La Gazette de Monaco about which achievements he's been most proud of in his 20-year reign, Albert said, touchingly, 'What I am most proud of is my marriage and my children, first and foremost.' He also added to the Monaco Tribune that his twins 'help keep me young, too. They take some keeping up with.' Turning 10 and being a part of their first state visit aren't Jacques and Gabriella's only milestones lately. They also, per Tatler, recently took part in their first Holy Communion, a significant step for Catholic children like the twins. 'The conversations I have with Jacques and those with Gabriella are so different, as well as the time spent with them,' Charlene recently said. 'Gabriella is very curious. She is intrigued by the world and life in general.' As for her son, 'he is curious and observant, more reserved,' Charlene said. 'He is naturally very calm.' Charlene also admitted that it was 'difficult to find time to spend one-on-one' with the twosome, which she had found 'essential when you are the parent of twins.' Of the state visit over the weekend, the twins were mentioned for their significant milestone, with the royal family of Monaco writing on social media that 'Crown Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella were also present to greet the presidential couple, demonstrating the familial and solemn character of this official reception.' 'This meeting illustrates the continuity of a relationship based on shared values, mutual trust, and a shared willingness to build together answers to great contemporary challenges,' the post continued.
