Dan Purdy joins Rangers revolution as transfer guru appointed by old Everton pal Kevin Thelwell

Rangers are set to appoint Dan Purdy as the club's new technical director after Nils Koppen's shock exit.
Record Sport broke the story that Koppen is on his way out just two days after the 49ers-backed takeover was confirmed, with the new owners already shaking up the setup behind the scenes.

New chairman Andrew Cavenagh promised a bold new era and Koppen, who only arrived last year was promoted to the role of technical director despite overseeing a shaky summer of recruitment, is vacating his role.

That leaves a key role open and they've turned to former Everton chief Purdy to fill it.
Purdy has a working relationship with Kevin Thelwell, who has been announced as the new sporting director at Ibrox, from their time together at Everton.
Everton had hoped to keep Purdy in his post but the 31-year-old is following Thelwell to become a key figure in the 49ers era at Ibrox.

Purdy has been involved in a number of analytical and scouting roles in England and was brought to Everton from Liverpool as a match analyst in 2014.
He rose up through the scouting department and had been head of scouting at Goodison Park since March 2022.
But now he's set to take on a new challenge at Rangers.
