Meghan Markle shares rare photo of Princess Lilibet to mark her fourth birthday
Meghan Markle took to her Instagram account to share a photo of her cradling her 'beautiful girl'
Meghan Markle has celebrated her daughter's fourth birthday with a heartfelt tribute and unseen family photos. The Duchess of Sussex shared the affectionate post on Instagram on Wednesday, June 4, featuring two black and white snaps with her daughter Lilibet.
One showed Meghan embracing Lilibet during a recent boating trip and another captured the princess as a baby snuggling close to her mum. The Duchess usually only shares photos of her daughter pictured from behind to protect her privacy but in the more recent photo Lilibet's eyes and top half of her face could be seen with her nose and mouth and rest of her face covered by Meghan's arms as she hugged the princess.

Meghan wrote the caption: "Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today she came into our lives - and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!".

The Duke and Duchess are expected to arrange a party for Lilibet's milestone but other members of the Royal Family, including the King, will be absent.
Last month Prince Harry opened up about his strained relationship with his father after losing a Court of Appeal case concerning his UK-based security measures.

To date it's understood that Lilibet has only met her grandfather once, three years ago when Harry and Meghan visited the UK with their children for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, reports the Mirror. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter.
Former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond said it is "incredibly sad" that the King is likely to miss Lilibet's birthday. Speaking to the Mirror she said: "Her birthday is mid-week, so I assume it will be a school day for Lilibet but I'm sure there'll be time for a tea party or celebration of some kind.
"Kids' birthdays are always fun and I think Meghan is the sort of person who will put a great deal of effort and care into making the day extremely magical for her little girl.

"I'm sure it will all be picture perfect. Having just celebrated the fourth birthday of my own granddaughter - the smiles, the laughter, the love and the fun - I can only imagine the pain that Charles must feel when he thinks about all he is missing. These are years and occasions that cannot be relived and, once passed, they are gone forever. It's incredibly sad."

Jennie also commented on the new pictures Meghan shared: "I suppose Meghan is showing the children more on Instagram because she knows there is a public appetite for photos of them. But she's being very coy about allowing us to see what they really look like.

"That's fair enough, if she wants to protect their privacy - though you could certainly argue that there's a very fine line between using them to publicise her Instagram account and her determination to keep their family life private.
"With both children at school she and Harry will obviously have a bit more time to pursue their various activities. Meghan seems to be ramping up her projects more and more, but I think they will both continue to put their family first - just like William and Catherine. And there's nothing wrong with that if you are lucky enough to be able to do so."
Lilibet, the youngest grandchild of the King, was born on June 4, 2021, in California. She was christened Lilibet Diana in honour of her great-grandmother, the late Queen, and her grandmother Princess Diana.

She is seventh in line to the throne and unlike her older brother Archie has never lived in the UK - only visiting once.

Meghan shares video of family trip to Disneyland for Lili's fourth birthday

The post on Instagram showed the family enjoying rides at the California attraction, drawing comparisons with Harry's childhood trip to Florida's Walt Disney World with Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1993. The montage also features a clip of Archie, six, and Lili meeting Disney princess Elsa, from the film Frozen. A post shared by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (@meghan) Meghan wears a Minnie Mouse hat in some of the snaps featured in the video, while another image shows a two-tier Little Mermaid-themed birthday cake for Lili. The duchess captioned the video: 'Thank you @disneyland for giving our family two days of pure joy!' The footage was reminiscent of photos taken of the duke when he was eight and his mother Diana took him and William to Walt Disney World. At the time, the royal siblings were photographed sitting at the front of a log on the Splash Mountain ride, with adults from their mother's entourage behind them and Diana seated at the back. Meghan's post follows a number of family shots over recent days to mark Lili's birthday. In another post, she described how Lili's relationship with Harry was 'the sweetest bond to watch unfold'. She shared two photos of the princess with her father the duke, adding: 'Daddy's little girl and favorite adventurer. Happy birthday Lili!' Lili – the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's youngest child – was born on June 4 2021 and was named Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. Lilibet is named after her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II.
