Sekhar Kammula's much-anticipated multilingual film Kuberaa, starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh, has now received its final green light from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The revised cut, carrying a U/A certificate, has been trimmed to 181 minutes, just over three hours.
Initially, the team had submitted a longer cut of 195 minutes, which was also cleared. However, the filmmakers had clarified that the early certification was sought 'to avoid last-minute stress" and hinted at making the final version leaner. True to their word, the final runtime has now been pared down to three hours and one minute.
Dhanush opened up about his journey with Kuberaa, saying, 'I heard I had to stand in the sun. I had to do a lot of research… All those are lies… I just had to follow my director. Sekhar sir was brilliant. He taught me the nuances. He made life very easy for me. It is a very different character from what I have played before and I enjoyed the challenge."

Speaking further about his connection to the film, Dhanush shared, 'It was a fantastic experience shooting for this film. We shot in dumpyards and garbage trucks. Every experience teaches you something." He also called Kuberaa 'a very, very special film" and confessed it was close to his heart.
With music by Devi Sri Prasad and cinematography by Niketh Bommi, Kuberaa marks Dhanush's first collaboration with National Award-winning director Sekhar Kammula. The film's production design is helmed by Ramakrishna Sabbani and Monika Nigotre, while Chaithanya Pingali has co-written the script. Kavya Sriram and Poorvaa Jain have styled the looks, and the film is backed by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under the banner of Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP.
Meanwhile, in the wake of the tragic Air India plane crash near Ahmedabad, the team behind Kuberaa, starring Dhanush and Rashmika Mandanna, postponed the film's pre-release event. The event, which was scheduled to take place on June 13, was called off as a gesture of respect for the victims and their families. The devastating crash occurred shortly after Flight AI171, en route to London, took off with 242 passengers and crew on board. The incident claimed several lives and has left the nation in mourning.

Will Sitaare Zameen Par face a delay after Aamir Khan rejects CBFC cuts? Here's what we know
Aamir Khan's comeback film, 'Sitaare Zameen Par,' faces a hurdle as the CBFC requests cuts, potentially delaying its June 20, 2025 release. Khan and director R.S. Prasanna are reportedly against the edits, leading to a standoff. Aamir plans to meet with the CBFC again, hoping for a resolution by June 16 to secure certification and allow advance bookings. Aamir Khan 's much-awaited return to the big screen with Sitaare Zameen Par is facing an unexpected hurdle just days ahead of its scheduled release. The film, which explores the uplifting story of specially-abled children guided by a determined coach, is yet to receive clearance from the CBFC due to a dispute over suggested cuts—raising questions about a possible delay. Here's everything we know so far. According to a report quoted by Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC has requested two cuts in Sitaare Zameen Par. However, Aamir Khan reportedly believes the film should be cleared without any edits. The source added that both Aamir and director RS Prasanna have crafted the film thoughtfully, and certain scenes or dialogues make complete sense within their context. The specific details of the cuts requested by the CBFC remain undisclosed, but the issue has reportedly caused a temporary standoff between the filmmakers and the certification board. This impasse has, in turn, delayed the film's progress toward its scheduled release. The report further revealed that since Aamir Khan has not agreed to the suggested cuts, Sitaare Zameen Par has yet to receive its censor certificate. Aamir now plans to meet the CBFC Examining Committee again on Monday to present his case. The hope is that a resolution will be reached by June 16, allowing the film to be certified. Only then can advance bookings begin, as theatres are not permitted to sell tickets without a censor certificate. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? Kuberaa trailer: Dhanush plays a beggar who challenges status quo; Nagarjuna believes in the power of money
Kuberaa trailer:The trailer for Sekhar Kammula's Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh-starrer Kuberaa was released at a pre-release event held in Hyderabad on Sunday. SS Rajamouli was the chief guest. Expectations are high on the film as it's Dhanush's debut in Telugu and Sekhar's second film in Tamil after Anaamika. (Also Read: Kuberaa producer claims Prime Video threatened to cut ₹10 crore from deal if film isn't released on time) The trailer begins with Dhanush, who plays a beggar, wondering about the value of crores. Nagarjuna states that in this country, money and power work, not ethics or justice, as history has shown. While supportive of Dhanush, he also seems to have a grey side. Rashmika's character seems to be someone whom Dhanush's character has faith in, despite her insisting otherwise. She also believes the rich and powerful will always rule the world. A character even wonders how a beggar threw a whole government into risk. It ends with Dhanush challenging the status quo. The pre-release event of Kuberaa was initially scheduled to be held on 13 June but was postponed after the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. The film's team made the announcement and wrote, 'The pre-release event of Kuberaa, scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed in light of the tragic Ahmedabad flight crash. We stand in solidarity with the grieving families.' They also added, 'Our hearts go out to all affected by the devastating plane crash in Ahmedabad. We extend our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims. May you find strength in this difficult time.' Kuberaa is slated for release on 20 June and is produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Rammohan Rao of Amigos Creations. The film has music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. Dhanush, who essayed the role of a beggar in the film, recalled shooting at a dumpyard for hours. At the launch of the song Pippi Pippi Dum Dum Dum, he said, 'To see another part of the world, a sight which you're not exposed to... You're always in your comfort zone, like you do only what's convenient, you're protected. I come from very humble roots.' He also said that shooting for Kuberaa took him back to his childhood, 'Today, I'm here by God's grace. I've seen that, and to go back there to see that world again, it was very enlightening and nostalgic. I'm very thankful to this film for so many reasons, but it takes me back to my childhood as well as one of them.'
