Lambeau Field Atrium hosting Vex Robotics Challenge
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials in Green Bay say they are thrilled to welcome the Northeast Wisconsin VEX Robotics Challenge to the Lambeau Field Atrium.
According to a release from Discover Green Bay, the signature event will take place on January 30 and 31 while bringing together 72 teams of high school students from across the United States and Canada, including several local Wisconsin teams from Appleton, Neenah, and Freedom.

At the event, students are expected to compete in HIGH STAKES, the 2024-2025 VEX Robotics Competition game that requires driving their designed and programmed robots in an attempt to secure awards and a spot at the VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas this May.
Officials add that the event, hosted by Fox Valley Competitive Robotics, will take place inside the Lambeau Field Atrium on Thursday, January 30 from 6:00 to 8:15 p.m. and on Friday, January 31 from 9:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
This event is an exciting opportunity to showcase Green Bay as a hub for innovation and education. We're honored to help bring this competition to Lambeau Field and celebrate the bright future of STEM.

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – On Thursday, Oshkosh Defense announced a three-year contract extension for the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles A2 (FMTV A2). The contract extension will allow the U.S. Army to continue to order the FMTV A2, including three FMTV A2 Low Velocity Air Drop (LVAD) variants, through February 2028. AT&T Fiber delivers high-speed internet to thousands of Door County homes
EGG HARBOR, Wis (WFRV) – Fast, reliable internet is finally reaching more rural homes in Door County. Governor Tony Evers joined AT&T executives and local government officials Thursday morning to celebrate the launch of a $24 million public-private fiber broadband project, which will eventually serve more than 5,400 addresses across four Door County communities. New partnership provides young northeastern Wisconsinites with theater training during summer The event took place at the Kress Pavilion in Egg Harbor, where AT&T technicians provided a fiber splicing demonstration and offered tours of the company's service trucks. The first homes in the Town of Egg Harbor are now eligible to order AT&T Fiber, with other areas expected to come online in phases. The expansion includes partnerships with the towns of Egg Harbor, Sevastopol, Sturgeon Bay, and the Village of Egg Harbor. A mix of funding from AT&T, local municipalities, and the Wisconsin Public Service Commission's Capital Projects Fund helped make the project possible. 'There are residents and businesses that didn't have access to high-speed fiber — and now they do,' said Robyn Gruner, AT&T's director of external affairs in Wisconsin. 'It's a critical piece of infrastructure, not just for streaming or working from home, but for healthcare, education, and staying connected.' Gruner said more than 350 homes are now eligible to sign up for service, and more than 50 orders have already come in. Governor Evers used the opportunity to highlight his administration's commitment to broadband access, pointing to $400 million in proposed broadband investments in his latest state budget. 'With uncertainty at the federal level, momentum is more important than ever that we continue to make this a statewide issue,' Evers said. 'We've already helped over 410,000 homes and businesses get access to new or improved broadband.' Robo-Hornets make fourth trip to world championships
HARPURSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A local high school robotics team is proving that small rural schools can compete amongst some of the very best youth innovators in the world. Harpursville High School's acclaimed robotics team, the 'Robo-Hornets,' recently returned home from the VEX Robotics World Championship in Texas. 885 teams from all over the world competed in the three-day tournament. The Robo-Hornets made it to the Final 16, ultimately losing in the elimination round. The team qualified for the competition after winning the state title earlier this year. Kalen Kulas is a freshman at Harpursville High School. This is his first year on the robotics team. He said competing in the world championship was nerve-wracking but also very exciting. 'It was really surprising. At states, I didn't expect to make it to worlds. I was more than happy making it to States. I had a great time there, and right at the end, I figured out I'd be able to go because I won the Excellence Award, and that was crazy,' said Kulas. This is the fourth year the Robo-Hornets have qualified for the world championships. Advisor and Coach Bruce Salisbury has been working with the team for ten years. He says he says he is so proud of the students' hard work and dedication that it makes him emotional. He says the kids and their success always come first. 'They constantly work, just their devotion to doing the best that they can. One person at worlds made the announcement that 'You guys are here because we know you give up your weekends, your holidays. The advisors are there late in the hours.' And everybody looked at me and said, 'Yes, that's describing me,' because the kids come first,' said Salisbury. The Robo-Hornets' record this year was 7-3. The team is already working on their robots for next year's season.
