Hollywood actor Jan Shepard passes away
Actor Jan Shepard has passed away. She was 96.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shepard died on January 17 at Providence St Joseph Medical Center in Burbank of pneumonia brought on by respiratory failure. Her son, Hollywood prop master Brandon Boyle, confirmed the demise.
"She was a good one and will be dearly missed," he said.
Shepard is best known for guest-starring on Rawhide, The Virginian, Gunsmoke and two dozen other TV Westerns. She portrayed Mimi, the sister of Presley's Danny Fisher, in the Michael Curtiz-directed King Creole (1958) and the wife of Danny Kohana (James Shigeta), who partners with Presley's Rick Richards in a helicopter business, in Paradise, Hawaiian Style (1966).
Her big-screen resume also included the cult B-movie Attack of the Giant Leeches (1959), directed by Bernard L Kowalski and produced by brothers Gene and Roger Corman for American International Pictures.
In 1954, the delightful Shepard appeared in her first TV Western, the syndicated anthology series Death Valley Days, and followed by The Adventures of Kit Carson, The Lone Ranger, The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp, Tales of the Texas Rangers, Rawhide, Tombstone Territory, Wanted: Dead or Alive, Bat Masterson, Gunsmoke (four episodes), Laramie, Lawman, The Virginian (five episodes) and The High Chaparral, among others.

Andrea Barber recalls 'gross question' about 'Full House' co-star John Stamos
Popular sitcom Full House viewers likely had crushes on John Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse in the show, but his young co-stars didn't see him that way. Andrea Barber, who played the next-door neighbour in the series, recalled an old interview in which she was asked if she "ever" had "a crush" on Stamos, reported The Hollywood Reporter. The actress called it a "gross question" as she was way too young at that time and regarded Stamos as her elder brother. While speaking on the How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast alongside co-star Jodie Sweetin, Barber recalled being asked in interviews if she "ever" had a "crush" on Stamos. "No," she added, going on to say of Stamos and fellow co-star Dave Coulier, who played family friend Joey Gladstone, who also helped raise the Tanner girls alongside widowed dad Danny (Bob Saget), " "They're like our older brothers, and we do not think of them that way," added Barber. Sweetin agreed, adding, "Not even older brothers. They're like my uncles." According to The Hollywood Reporter, the moment came up during a game of "Would You Rather" on a recent minisode of Barber and Sweetin's rewatch podcast, as they look back at the two-parter where Jesse and Becky (Lori Loughlin) get married. During the wedding-themed quiz, the co-hosts were asked if they'd rather marry Joey or Jesse, but they found the question to be "weird". "They're like family, and it's weird," Sweetin said. The pair did, however, pick Joey, with Sweetin saying the choice was based on "temperament alone". "There's nothing remotely attractive about this," Barber added later. "They are just our buddies and, yeah, this is kind of a weird question." After Full House ended in 1995, Sweetin, Barber, Bure and more of the Full House cast reprised their roles in the Netflix reboot Fuller House, which ran from 2016-2020.

Actress and comedian Tina Fey says her "impulse to hide and retire" is "strong" so that new faces in comedy can step to the forefront. She told The Hollywood Reporter: "The impulse to hide and retire is very strong because I do think it's time to help new voices get in the mix. "It's something I'm already doing, but I want to do more. Even on the walk over here I was like, 'I am so tired of hearing from me. Surely everyone else is tired of hearing from the same people over and over again.' " However, the 54-year-old star, who has daughters Alice and Penelope with producer husband Jeff Richmond, said that she was grateful for her upcoming Netflix series 'The Four Seasons' because it "saved" her while juggling a lot in her personal life, reports She said: "This sandwich generation stuff, having your kids and an aging parent in the same house, it's wonderful … but it also really takes a lot out of you." "My mom passed away in the summer, my older daughter went to college in August and my husband and I went to work on 'The Four Seasons' in the fall. That kept me in the world. It saved me from just shrinking up like a little granny apple head." Fey and her friend Amy Poehler previously hosted the Golden Globe Awards four times and presented the Oscars once but she's got no interest in helming another awards show.
