Toddler dies after being electrocuted while bouncing on funfair trampoline
Three other children also had to be taken to hospital for treatment.
A toddler has been killed after she was electrocuted in a horror incident at a fairground in Spain.
The two-year-old was bouncing on a trampoline with three older children at around midnight on Sunday, June 15, when they touched a metal fence surrounding it.
Despite the efforts of paramedics attempting to resuscitate her for half an hour, she was pronounced dead in the early hours of that morning.
It is understood that the attraction, located near the city of Murcia, had a fence around it with an electric current running through it, the Mirror reports.
Witnesses said they saw the youngster, who has not been named, unconscious and bleeding from her nose after the incident.
The three other children involved, an eight-year-old girl and two boys aged 11 and 12, were rushed to hospital after sustaining electric shocks. A 29-year-old woman who saw the incident unfold was also treated for an anxiety attack, according to local media.
Spain's Civil Guard police quickly closed off the funfair as they began an investigation into negligence and involuntary manslaughter. It will examine whether the trampoline was safe to use, or was connected to the electrical supply in a dangerous manner.
Murcia City Council declared a three-day mourning period, with officials expressing their condolences.
The fairground was a temporary attraction for summer festivities, but the incident has sparked concerns for safety of similar setups across Spain, particularly during festival season.
Locals have called for tighter restrictions and increased inspections around electricity supplies at such events.

It comes just a few weeks after an apparent malfunction on a waltzer ride in Edinburgh last month caused it to go "flying" with three children inside.
The car on the ride at a carnival in Wester Hailes"came completely off" according to Kevin McNulty, the father of the children involved, who were aged 13, 12 and 7.
He said: 'My three kids were on the Waltzers with myself and Brooke in car behind. 'Then the unthinkable happened. Going FULL PELT (not slowing down) their car came completely off and then went flying into our car.
'It then smashed about the place crashing into the side off the track, thankfully there was a heavy large speaker that they collided with or they would have been through the whole thing and then the ending would have been a completely different story'.
The company operating the fair, Galactic Carnival Edinburgh, later issued an apology to the family, and announced the event would be closed while an inspection took place.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper vowed to finally deliver justice for girls preyed upon by predators, warning vile perpetrators they have "nowhere to hide". Children as young as 10 were plied with drugs and alcohol, and brutally abused by gangs of men before being "disgracefully let down again and again" by authorities, MPs heard. Ms Cooper offered "an unequivocal apology for the unimaginable pain and suffering" inflicted on young girls, and "the failure of our country's institutions through decades." But whistle blower Jayne Senior demanded to know why it had taken so long for victims to get justice. Survivors of the Telford abuse scandal, exposed by the Mirror, said they hoped victims would finally get their answers. Crossbench peer Baroness Louise Casey laid bare the culture of denial in institutions that failed young girls in a report commissioned by Keir Starmer earlier this year. She pointed to a "collective failure" to address the 'over-representation' of suspects of Asian and Pakistani heritage men in local data - using figures collected in Greater Manchester, West and South Yorkshire. Lady Casey said there was evidence some authorities avoided the issue altogether for fear of appearing racist and raising community tensions. In her report, Lady Casey said that vulnerable children were often treated as "wayward teens" by public bodies. Young girls were even prosecuted for offences relating to child prostitution. Ms Cooper said the Government would accept the recommendations, including for a national inquiry which is expected to take around three years. More than 1,000 dropped child sex abuse cases are expected to be re-investigated by police, after too many cases where men escaped facing rape charges as blame was directed at their victims. The Home Secretary vowed to change the law to ensure adults who engage in penetrative sex with under 16s face a mandatory rape charge - and convictions of victims who should have been protected will be quashed. She told MPs: "The sexual exploitation of children by grooming gangs is one of the most horrific crimes. Children as young as 10 plied with drugs and alcohol, brutally raped by gangs of men and disgracefully let down again and again by the authorities who were meant to protect them and keep them safe. "And these despicable crimes have caused the most unimaginable harm to victims, victims and survivors throughout their lives." She added: "We have lost more than a decade. That must end now." The Government will also order police forces to properly record the ethnicity of perpetrators and victims. Lady Casey said it was a "major failing" that this data had not been properly recorded, meaning there was no clear picture. She told reporters the data should be investigated as it was "only helping the bad people" not to bring a fuller picture to light, adding: "You're doing a disservice to two sets of population, the Pakistani and Asian heritage community, and victims." Asked if she was worried recording the data could lead to civil unrest, she responded: "If for a minute you had another report that ducked the issue, what do you think is going to happen? Do you think they're not going to use that as well?" "If good people don't grip difficult issues, in my experience bad people do." Jayne Senior MBE, the whistleblower who first raised the alarm about abuse in Rotherham, said: "Why are we where we are? Why has it taken so long? "I have spoken to a few victims this afternoon. A few that are in tears, a few that are very angry. Some are relieved that they won't be seen as lying now. "Others are saying it is opening things up again and we've been asking for this for years." The youth worker, who runs the Swinton Lock Activity Centre, near Mexborough, in South Yorkshire added: "I think the recommendations are good but this needs setting up now very quickly. "It needs to be a Government appointed inquiry but externally led. I also think there needs to be a massive cash injection into therapy and counselling. "And survivors of the most horrendous abuse need to stop having to beg for compensation. "People wait years jumping through hoops before they get any compensation." Holly Archer, a survivor and campaigner from Telford, said: "Baroness Casey's findings are not a surprise. But I'm glad to see there is finally some acknowledgment that there needs to be reform to cross border taxis, which is something I have worked on with Telford and Wrekin council. "We wrote to the Government more than five years ago asking them to consider the regulation of taxi licensing. My only disappointment is that the review has focussed on the north of England, and there would have been benefit in choosing to focus the audit on locations across the country. "I'm really hopeful that there will be changes now for all victims, past, present and future." Scarlett Jones, a second survivor from Telford, said: "I welcome Dame Casey's review and findings and I hope that this is the time that all politics are put to one side and everyone unites to give the victims and survivors the answers that they need. "We have been working with the Home Office to make the framework as survivor focused as it can be, as it has been in Telford." Scarlett, not her real name, is one of three survivors working with Telford Council to implement 47 recommendation from the local inquiry into child sexual abuse that was produced in 2022. Her report highlighted cases of grooming gangs targeting young girls in towns including Telford, which was exposed by the Sunday Mirror. It also pointed to groups preying on victims in Rochdale, Bradford, Huddersfield, Wrexham, Newcastle, London, Aylesbury, Oldham and Somerset. Just three days before Lady Casey's report was published, seven men were found guilty of sexually abusing two teenage girls in Rochdale over five A and Girl B were both groomed from the age of 13 and expected to have sex with the men "whenever and wherever" they wanted. One of the victims, now in her 30s, said she was also labelled a "prostitute" by social services when aged 10. The gang was convicted of 53 sexual offences between 2001 and 2006. The paedophiles were ringleader Mohammed Zahid, 64, Mushtaq Ahmed, 67, Kasir Bashir, 50, Mohammed Shahzad, 44, Naheem Akram, 48, Nisar Hussain, 41, and Roheez Khan, 39.

Two men in court over gangland 'firebomb' attack and gun found in Edinburgh
Liam McDermid, Denin Mackenzie appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff court while a third man was reported to the Procurator Fiscal. Two men have appeared in court charged in connection with an alleged gangland firebomb attack and the recovery of a firearm. Liam McDermid and Denin Mackenzie were taken into custody by officers investigating a spate of violent incidents across Edinburgh and Glasgow. They appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court to face a number of charges. McDermid, 25, was arrested and charged after a firearm was found at Roseburn Path in Edinburgh, on Wednesday, June 11. He appeared in the dock to face a charge relating to being involved in serious organised crime under Section 28(1) of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010. He made no plea and was remanded into custody. Raids also took place at addresses in South Queensferry and Edinburgh after a vehicle was firebombed while parked on Peacocktail Close in Edinburgh on Friday, May 16. Mackenzie, of Edinburgh, was taken into custody by police and appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, June 16, where he faced five charges. The 22-year-old was charged with two counts of knife possession, one charge of wilful fireraising and one charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive way and one of vandalism. The vandalism charge was in relation to a property. He made no plea and was remanded into custody. Both men are expected to appear in the dock again next week. A 21-year-old man was also detained in the raids and has reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with wilful fireraisings at three properties in April. On Monday detectives arrested another man in connection with an alleged firebombing on March 6 at Edinburgh beauty salon Belle Cheveux. The owner of the premises has previously been linked to Edinburgh cocaine kingpin Mark Richardson. It takes the number of arrests in Police Scotland's Operation Portaledge to 45. The force said a dedicated team of officers from the Specialist Crime Division are continuing to crackdown on spiralling violence across Scotland's two biggest cities. Detective Chief Superintendent Dave Ferry said: "Our continued activity and arrests show our commitment to targeting organised crime and bringing those responsible to justice. "We continue to investigate and follow a number of positive lines of enquiry. The support and response from the public has been excellent, and I am grateful for the assistance given to us. Lyons Jr, 46, and Monaghan, 43, were gunned down in Fuengirola after they watched the Champions League final on the evening of Saturday, May 31. The killer walked into the bar and calmly first shot Lyons Jr dead before targeting Monaghan. Shortly afterwards, graphic security camera images of his killing were released to the Spanish media - however, until now, the existence of other footage has never been made public. The gunman was in and out of Monaghan's Irish Bar within 25 seconds in what experts describe as a "military-style" killing. However, as he left, he was inadvertently caught on another CCTV camera providing police with a vital breakthrough. It is not known if his identity was immediately known to the Spanish or if that came after they liaised with their counterparts back in the UK. A source told the Scottish Daily Express: "This was absolute dynamite for investigators. The fact that his image was so clear provided them with a major breakthrough within a very short time. It is apparent that they knew who they were looking for extremely quickly." Authorities in Fuengirola believe the killer was picked up a short distance from the crime scene and driven the 270-mile, three-hour trip across the border into Portugal. On Friday, Merseyside Police detained a 44-year-old male on an international arrest warrant on behalf of the Spanish. Michael Riley was later transferred from Liverpool to London, where he appeared before Westminster Magistrates' in connection with the double killing on Saturday morning. It is not yet known if the Liverpudlian will contest the application to return him to Spain. Within days of the murders Police Scotland issued a statement saying they were not in any way connected to the current ongoing gang war which has engulfed Scotland. Despite both victims being major players within the north Glasgow-based Lyons crime syndicate, the force said that there was nothing to suggest the deaths have any link to the feud.
