A New Heritage-Inspired Boutique Resort Is Coming to Saudi's Yanbu

CairoScene16-05-2025

Blending wellness with cultural storytelling, the resort will feature private cabanas overlooking the sea and activities that draw from Yanbu's maritime heritage.
Saudi destination developer Baheej has announced plans for a new boutique wellness resort along the Red Sea coast in Yanbu, furthering its vision of positioning the historic port city as a key stop on the emerging 'Red Sea Riviera.'
Developed in partnership with ASFAR, the Public Investment Fund's tourism investment arm, the 34-room resort marks the fourth phase of Baheej's Yanbu Waterfront Project.
Designed by architecture firm Spectrum, the resort blends wellness with cultural storytelling. Private cabanas will overlook the sea, while a spa and programming draw from Yanbu's maritime heritage—specifically the city's deep-rooted ties to seafaring and pearl diving. Guests can expect experiences grounded in local healing methods, alongside sunrise meditations and movement practices attuned to the coastal landscape.
The project joins Baheej's growing Yanbu portfolio—including Cloud 7 Lifestyle Hotel, Kaynuna Beach Escape, and the upcoming Jaba Tour Center and Diving Club—and is set to reflect a distinctly Saudi sense of place, where heritage and contemporary wellness meet.

On-Road Mobile Stations Support Hajj Pilgrims During Bus Breakdowns - Middle East Business News and Information

Mecca Saudi Arabia's Roads General Authority has introduced mobile service pods along the Hijrah Expressway that connects Makkah and Madinah. These stations are intended to assist pilgrims whose buses experience mechanical issues en route. For many pilgrims, the journey between Mecca and Madinah is spiritual and physically demanding. Unexpected bus breakdowns can add to the challenges, leaving pilgrims stranded under the scorching sun. Inaugurated by Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al-Jasser, these mobile units are strategically located along the Hijrah Expressway to support distressed pilgrims. In addition to providing physical assistance, they create a feeling of safety and compassion, reflecting the Kingdom's commitment to the well-being of each pilgrim. Each mobile unit can host 40 pilgrims and features air conditioning, seating, restrooms, and facilities for serving cold drinks and meals. Functioning 24/7 during the Hajj season, these stations are designed to offer prompt relief and comfort to pilgrims in need. This initiative is part of a larger effort by Saudi authorities to guarantee the safety and well-being of all pilgrims.

Saudi Cultural Fund Brings Saudi Handicrafts to London's Selfridges

A new activation hosted by Selfridges in London is providing an international platform for Saudi artisans to exhibit their crafts. Saudi craftsmanship is taking over London's luxury scene as the Saudi Cultural Development Fund (CDF) brings a curated collection of traditional handmade pieces to Selfridges from June 3rd to 22nd, 2025. This special showcase, part of Saudi Arabia's Year of Handicrafts, highlights artisanal works, from palm and leather crafts to jewellery and accessories, crafted by makers from across the Kingdom. Designed in collaboration with Turquoise Mountain, a global non-profit, the activation draws on Saudi Arabia's natural and architectural heritage, offering global shoppers a rare window into the cultural and economic value of the Kingdom's rich craft traditions. Running alongside is a Saudi fashion showcase also enabled by CDF. The exhibition aims to amplify the global presence of Saudi creative industries. Fashion brands supported by the Saudi Fashion Commission and the Saudi 100 Brands initiative are sharing the spotlight with major international labels, further cementing Saudi Arabia's rising influence in global design. This multifaceted initiative also builds on CDF's broader efforts - like the Nama' Accelerators: Handicrafts Track - to empower cultural entrepreneurs, drive sustainable creative businesses, and position heritage as a key pillar of Saudi Arabia's economic and cultural transformation.
