Deadline of tax settlement scheme extended again
The civic body has so far collected Rs 19 crore from outstanding dues under this scheme. However, against the annual property tax target of Rs 160 crore for this fiscal, the MC officials have collected Rs 43 crore until now. The officials claimed they will increase the pace of recovery of dues in the coming month when people clear the tax for this fiscal to avail of a 10% rebate.
The PGs and migrant quarters are on the radar of the MC teams, as checking is ongoing in some areas to catch hold of the defaulters.
The OTS was launched on May 15, and the defaulters were given time until July 31 to pay up. The deadline was extended to Aug 15 and now to August 31. The officials claimed they have sent teams for checking in areas like BRS Nagar, Rajguru Nagar, and the backyard of the DC office complex, where commercial activities have increased.
Many people have set up PGs in their households, but they have not paid commercial tax to the civic body for many years.

The officials claimed that in the coming days, there will be more tax generation as current year tax payments will also be received. By the end of September, they expect the total tax collection to cross Rs 100 crore.
MC superintendent Vivek Verma said, "The govt is giving a chance to the defaulters to clear their dues without any interest and penalty, and it the payment deadline has been extended for the third time. Residents should make the best use of it because once the OTS deadline ends, we will impose the penalty and interest rate."
Meanwhile, senior deputy mayor Rakesh Prashar claimed that with OTS, the MC is collecting several pending dues from the defaulters, and now people who never came to clear their dues will come on MC records.
Ward defence committee meetings baffle MC staff
As CM Bhagwant Mann launched a drive to form ward defence committees in 95 wards of the city, the MC staff is also deputed in these committees. The MC officials claimed they are told to conduct ward-level meetings and create groups so that these committees could be notified by the govt and proper ID cards should be issued to them.
These residents will then take care of the drugs awareness programmes in the colonies and stage nukkad nataks.
They will take care of drug-related activities in the colonies and inform police. MC officials claimed they are unsure how they will manage these meetings, especially when they need to focus on tax collection and, moreover, they know nothing about drugs.

IKEA expects India business to grow 10% in FY25, to expand network
Leading Swedish furniture and home furnishing retailer IKEA expects its India sales to grow by over 10 per cent in the financial year 2025, a top company official said here. IKEA follows the September-August financial year. While speaking with a media delegation, Ingka Group Retail Manager Tolga nc said that the company is confident of its expansion in the Indian market, where it plans to open a slew of small-format stores along with its traditional large (Blue Box) stores. Ingka Group operates IKEA stores in 31 countries, including India. IKEA, which gets around 30 per sales through online channels, is seeing an impressive jump in queries. In FY24 IKEA in India reported a widening of its total loss to Rs 1,299.4 crore, though its revenue from operations was at Rs 1,809.8 crore, up 4.5 per cent. When asked about the growth of IKEA in India, Tolga nc said: So right now, after many years, seven years of being in India with the retail business, we have finally come to a point where we feel and see that the catch-up is happening for us." He also acknowledged that IKEA's growth was slowed down in India due to the pandemic and other related disruptions. Before that, it was very aggressive in its growth. "We see that we are growing faster (in India) than many other markets where we are," he added. With the learning of the last seven years of retail operations in India, IKEA is trying to be "more relevant" for the many Indians and their everyday life at home. India is actually as big as a continent. And of course, we are a growth mindset organisation. So, we are expecting big growth for the coming years in India. We are establishing all the needed resources and focusing on growing IKEA in India, and I believe that this is just the beginning of what we are experiencing now, he said. Oncu did not comment on the number of stores that IKEA will build in India, but said: There is an enormous amount of stores that need to be established in India, in order for us to reach the many Indian families and consumers. IKEA, which recently opened a city store in Delhi, started retail operations in India in 2018 with its Hyderabad store, followed by Navi Mumbai and Bengaluru. To grow faster and increase its penetration in India, IKEA has changed its approach to expand with several small stores, which could be sized from 2,000 to 5,000 sq feet, besides having traditional large format stores and city stores. "So I see a big potential (in small stores). After many decades, we have learned how to establish, operate, and use our traditional stores. And now we are seeing that where these traditional ones are not able to be we can now become closer to many people by developing these smaller formats. And of course, it's a combination and you need to see it as a part of an ecosystem, he added. nc also acknowledged that India is a value-conscious market, and to grow beyond the metro market, IKEA needs to offer low-priced items. We need to establish a very low-cost operation when it comes to the fulfilment, the logistic part, when it comes to the operation, so that all the costs we can lower, we can also lower the prices of our products to become even more affordable, he added.

NewsVoir Noida (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 20: ACE Group, a leading real estate developer in the NCR, has achieved a significant milestone with sales of residential and commercial properties exceeding Rs. 5,000 crores along the rapidly developing Yamuna Expressway region. This milestone reaffirms ACE Group's strong presence in the region and underlines the increasing investor confidence in one of India's most promising real estate hotspots. The Rs. 5,000 crore value includes sales from a mix of real estate categories, including plotted developments, integrated townships, mix of low rise and high rise apartments, studios and luxury retail and commercial spaces across multiple ACE projects in the area. These projects have been well-received by homebuyers, institutional investors, and business owners alike due to their strategic location, modern infrastructure, and strong future growth prospects. The 165 km long Yamuna Expressway, which connects Delhi, Noida and Greater Noida to Agra, has seen a surge in development activity over the past few years, fuelled by mega infrastructure initiatives such as the new Noida International Airport at Jewar, the Film City, Olympic City, Heritage City, logistic parks, and IT hubs. ACE Group has been among the first movers to recognize and capitalize on this potential, delivering integrated developments that blend quality construction with sustainable urban planning. Stating on this landmark accomplishment, Mr. Ajay Chaudhary, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of ACE Group, said: "We are glad to share that ACE Group has successfully sold units' worth more than Rs. 5,000 crores of our projects on the Yamuna Expressway. This milestone reflects the success of our focused developments in high-potential locations and the continued trust our customers and investors place in our delivery and vision. This achievement motivates us to continue building contemporary and sustainable spaces that add long-term value to the lives of our investors and buyers." ACE Group's projects in this area and nearby are known for their topmost quality, in time delivery, and intelligently designed spaces. With a focus on community living, environmental sustainability, and smart urban amenities, ACE residential and commercial projects have become a preferred choice for both end-users and investors looking for stable ROI. The Rs. 5,000 crore sales milestone is a testament to ACE Group's strategic foresight and execution capabilities. As the region witnesses further infrastructural progress and connectivity upgrades, ACE Group is well-positioned to lead the next phase of urban expansion.
