State police identify man killed in 5-vehicle crash on I-93 in Medford
A young man was killed in a major wreck that shut down Interstate 93 in Medford during the Thursday evening commute, authorities announced Friday.
Troopers responding to a report of a crash on the northbound side of the highway near Exit 25 just before 6:30 p.m. discovered a five-vehicle pileup, according to Massachusetts State Police.
State police said investigators later determined that a Toyota Camry struck four vehicles, causing a Ford F-350 to overturn in the woods along the side of the highway.
The truck driver, identified as 25-year-old Revere native Fredis Seravia-Corvera, was pronounced dead at the scene.
State police didn't say if the driver of the Camry would face charges.
Video shared with Boston 25 News showed a sea of first responders working at the scene of the crash.
The northbound side of the highway was closed for two hours after the crash, and traffic didn't resume as normal until 11 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation.

‘Both great people': Friends grapple with discovery of sunken boat, two bodies found in Cape Cod Bay
Friends of a Cape Cod couple are grappling with the news of two bodies found and a sunken boat located on the ocean floor. Shawn Arsenault, 64, and his girlfriend, Felicia Daley, 54, left Rock Harbor in Orleans Sunday to go clamming in a 30-foot vessel called 'Seahorse'. The harbormaster noticed Arsenault's truck still in the parking lot on Tuesday morning, and an intensive search began. A recreational vessel dragging its fishing gear spotted the wreckage Wednesday afternoon two miles off the coast of Brewster. Authorities brought the remains of two people to shore in Dennis hours later. 'They were both great people,' said friend Patrick McLaughlin. 'He was a loud character with his jokes, and she would do anything to help you out.' Authorities had not formally identified the bodies found as of Wednesday night. However, friends said they didn't need official confirmation to grasp the tragic outcome. 'They were just going out to make a few dollars. The ocean said, no, not today,' said friend Scott Amerault. Amerault told Boston 25 News Daley held a special place in his heart ever since they went to Nauset Regional High School together. 'She will always be remembered,' he said. 'Heart of gold but salty as hell.' Witnesses on land told the Coast Guard they potentially saw items, including a GPS, being thrown overboard before the boat went missing. Those accounts are adding to speculation about what happened. 'We like to stress that mariners file voyage plans with loved ones so somebody knows where you're going and how long you're going to be out for,' said Lt. Quinn LeCain with the U.S. Coast Guard Sector SE New England. State and federal agencies are now working together to figure out how to handle the underwater wreck. Hingham family files Title IX complaint after student creates deepfake image of their daughter
Megan Mancini filed a Title IX complaint in Hingham Public Schools after she says her daughter was a victim of sexual harassment. Mancini says another student created a Deepfake pornographic image of her daughter using artificial intelligence. 'She was devastated, I mean she definitely felt violated, she wanted something to be done about it, and at that point we had notified the school, the police,' said Mancini. After Mancini filed a complaint about the incident in January, Hingham schools launched an investigation. After about four and a half months, the district sent a letter to Mancini, saying that while the student's conduct was 'inappropriate and hurtful, there is insufficient evidence to conclude it occurred in the District's schools.' 'The image was shared in the school hallways, amongst other students during school hours, and it was also shared via text,' said Mancini. Mancini was disappointed to learn the student responsible for creating that nude photo of her daughter would not be disciplined at Hingham Middle School. 'It makes me feel like the school failed,' said Mancini. Legal expert Peter Elikann says families could press charges for this under the state's new Revenge Porn and Sexting law. 'The word needs to go out among young people that you can be criminally prosecuted in juvenile court for sending nude images of someone else without their consent,' said Elikann. He says that includes Deepfakes or AI-generated photos. 'The fact that people can create all kinds of fake pornography online, and young people seem to know how to do it, it's really hit a huge crisis point,' said Elikann. 'I think it's important to have swift action, and I think we missed that critical window,' said Mancini. Mancini hopes school leaders can start to take more action on these cases to prevent them from happening again, even if districts claim not to have jurisdiction. 'There was not one communication sent out from the school department or the school administration about this issue, and for you know, a heads up, awareness to parents that this is going on, this is going on in middle school, and it's going to get nothing but worse,' said Mancini. This conduct is becoming such a problem that the state has a youth diversion program to teach minors about the dangers of sharing nude photos, if they're prosecuted in cases like this. Boston 25 News reached out to Hingham Public Schools multiple times on this issue, but they haven't responded. This is a developing story. Midland man arrested for allegedly using truck to hit wife during domestic dispute
MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- A Midland man is facing a felony charge after police say he intentionally struck his wife with a vehicle during an argument Saturday morning. 61-year-old Ralph Allan Olson was arrested on June 7 and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. His bond was set at $75,000. As of Monday, Olson remained in custody at the Midland County Detention Center. No attorney was listed for him in court records. According to an arrest affidavit, Midland Police responded to a call just after 9 a.m., near Holloway Drive, for a reported accident involving a pedestrian. Officers arrived and found the victim, identified as Olson's wife, with visible scrapes and bruises on both knees and her left arm. Olson allegedly told officers that he and his wife had been in a verbal argument earlier that morning. He said he left the home but returned a short time later and saw her walking near the curb. Olson admitted he 'sped by out of spite' following the argument and struck her with his brown Ford F-150 on the passenger side of the vehicle. The victim confirmed the couple had been arguing and said she was walking along the curb when she noticed Olson's truck approaching. She told officers she was struck by the passenger-side hood and mirror, which knocked her to the ground. Despite her injuries, she initially told police she did not want to pursue charges. However, officers reviewed security footage from a nearby residence, which reportedly showed Olson driving at a high rate of speed through the residential neighborhood and making no attempt to avoid hitting the woman until after the impact. The video also showed that the victim was walking near the curb and not obstructing the roadway. Several witnesses told police that Olson did not immediately return to the scene after the collision. Due to the totality of the evidence, including Olson's admission, video footage, and eyewitness accounts, he was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
