Groups of Ministers from Andhra to be sent on study tours to developed countries
The Ministers, particularly the young ones, will be divided into groups for the purpose. The Chief Minister will constitute the groups and assign them schedules.
Mr. Naidu revealed the idea after the Cabinet meeting he chaired at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
Mr. Naidu said the Ministers should understand the development projects in the countries they visit and find new ways to develop Andhra Pradesh.
Revealing details of his Singapore visit, Mr. Naidu told the Cabinet that the previous YSRCP government had created fear among the investors.
The Chief Minister, according to a few Ministers, said, 'With great difficulty, we have been able to revive confidence among the Ministers and officials in the Singapore Government. Due to the unacceptable attitude of the YSRCP Government, the Singapore Government, lost trust in us. After more than 40 meetings, the Singapore authorities have accepted to come and participate in the investor summit slated for November in Andhra Pradesh to explore opportunities. They are reluctant to take up the Seed Capital project, as agreed before 2019, but they will extend support to complete the project.'
On reorganisation of districts, Mr. Naidu asked the Group of Ministers to finalise the changes and submit the report in a month.
On the liquor scam, he told the Ministers that the government was committed to taking the issue to its logical conclusion.
The Chief Minister said, from the next Cabinet meeting, one Minister must explain the progress and achievements of his portfolio.
A senior Minister said, 'Presenting self-progress in the Cabinet is a good opportunity for the young Ministers. They will have an additional advantage in improving their performance. The Chief Minister and other Cabinet colleagues will suggest how to improve the performance and find solutions to problems.'
The Chief Minister also suggested the Ministers to counter the misinformation being spread by some vested interests against the government. 'Despite visible development, implementing poll promises, and delivering good governance, some opposition camps have been spreading misinformation, which must be countered,' he said.

The YSRCP leader alleged that around 4,000 voters were being forced to travel several kilometres to reach the polling booths, which he said is detrimental to the conduct of free and fair elections. "When ZPTC elections were held in 2021, this was not the case. But today, at the behest of the ruling party, polling booths have been swapped or interchanged, forcing voters to travel quite a bit of distance to cast their votes. Cabinet clears ₹4,200 crore Merite scheme to upgrade technical education
The Union Cabinet on Friday approved the 'Multidisciplinary Education and Research Improvement in Technical Education' (Merite) scheme aimed at improving the quality of technical education across India. "It is a 'Central Sector Scheme' with total financial implication of ₹4,200 crore for a period from 2025-26 to 2029-30. Out of ₹4,200 crore, there will be an external assistance of ₹2,100 crore from the World Bank as loan," the Cabinet statement said. What the scheme covers The Merite scheme will cover 275 government and government-aided technical institutions, including 175 engineering colleges and 100 polytechnics. These include selected National Institutes of Technology (NITs), state engineering colleges, affiliating technical universities (ATUs), and polytechnic institutes across various states and union territories (UTs). In addition to institutional support, the scheme will also extend assistance to state and UT departments overseeing technical education. The initiative is expected to benefit around 7.5 lakh students by enhancing access to improved academic resources, infrastructure, and industry-aligned training, the Cabinet said. Expected outcomes The government expects the scheme to deliver: Digitalisation strategies at the state/UT level Multidisciplinary programme guidelines Improved quality assurance and governance Labour market-aligned curricula and blended learning Enhanced research and innovation capacity Higher student transition rates across groups Focus on employability The Centre said the scheme will emphasise skills to improve employability through a comprehensive approach. 'Key interventions include offering internship opportunities, updating curricula to align with industry requirements, organising faculty development programmes, and setting up research hubs,' it added.

Cabinet approves ₹30,000 crore LPG subsidy to OMCs to ensure affordable cooking gas for middle class: Ashwini Vaishnaw
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday approved LPG subsidy to oil marketing companies (OMCs) amounting to ₹ 30,000 crore, Union I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said. The move has been taken to ensure affordable LPG for the middle class amid the current geopolitical situation, Vaishnaw said. 'To ensure that the LPG gas is affordable for the middle class, a subsidy of ₹ 30,000 cr has been present geopolitics, gas prices fluctuate and to take care of that, the subsidy is given,' he said in a briefing after the Cabinet meeting. The compensation will be paid in 12 tranches to state-owned OMCs including Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum, the Ministry of Petroleum said in a statement on Friday. It said that international LPG prices continue to remain high. 'However, to insulate consumers from fluctuations in international LPG prices, the increase in cost was not passed on to consumers of domestic LPG which led to significant losses for the three OMCs,' it said. The Cabinet further approved a ₹ 12,060 crore support for PM Ujjwala beneficiaries for FY 2025-26, a statement said. This will entail a subsidy of ₹ 300 per cylinder to eligible Ujjwala subscribers and will benefit 10.33 crore households and around 45 crore individuals across India. The Ujjwala Scheme was launched by PM Narendra Modi in 2016. The Cabinet's decision came days after US President Donald Trump doubled US tariffs on India to 50 per cent — the highest in the world — citing its continued purchase of Russian oil. PM Modi had earlier this week, without naming Trump, said that the government will do everything to defend its citizens even if it comes at a personal cost. 'This step also underlines the Government's commitment to protect consumers from volatility in global energy markets while maintaining the financial health of these PSU OMCs. It also reaffirms the objective of ensuring the widespread availability of clean cooking fuel to all consumers of domestic LPG, including those under flagship schemes like PM Ujjwala Yojana,' the petroleum ministry said in its statement.
