Time of India2 days ago
Bengaluru: Clad in a casual tee, chinos and blue sports shoes, Rahul Sasi could have been the coolest CEO these students met on campus. Founder and CEO of CloudSEK, a firm working in the space of cybersecurity, he was on stage at St Francis College, Koramangala, controlling a drone that followed him around as he explained how machines can turn sentinel.
Rahul was delivering a talk on cybersecurity at the college on National Librarians' Day, organised by the department of library and information centre of the college and The Times of India as part of the latter's Leaders on Campus initiative.
The young CEO engaged the crowd as he broke down the nuances of cybersecurity, offering gift boxes to those with the right answers and announcing a PlayStation 5 for the winner of a test he would give in the coming days.

Rahul explained cybersecurity to the students and how it works using real-time research he did in the past. His early experiments with hacking ranged from changing the TV channel a person is watching to hacking a coffee machine to get free beverages.
"When we started the company, one of my first investors said the best money you can make is by helping other people. Cybersecurity is one such thing," Rahul explained.
"I come from a middle-class family; my dad was a bus conductor in Kerala State Transport Corporation.

Before travelling abroad, I used to think smart people only existed in the US, Israel or the UK. That's because all the software we were using used to come from there. But later on, I realised there are smart people everywhere. So, that made me think — what is stopping us from building great software here rather than just working in a different country? That's the premise on which we started the company," he said.
Commenting that there is a gap between industry requirements and curriculum, Rahul said it is practical knowledge that students should seek, instead of mere theoretical knowledge.
The panel discussion was moderated by Nazura Javed, head of the department of MCA, St Francis College.

Take steps to ease tariff pain of exporters, CM urges PM

Chennai: In the wake of the US imposing an additional 25% tariff on Indian goods, chief minister M K Stalin urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to introduce special financial relief measures for exporters. In a letter to Modi, Stalin said, "To provide immediate relief, Union govt needs to consider introducing a special interest subvention scheme for all exporters affected by tariffs to improve liquidity and reduce cost burdens and accelerate Free Trade Agreements and bilateral arrangements to offset high-tariff market risks." Considering the scale of the problem, a special financial relief package including a moratorium on principal repayment, similar to the one implemented during COVID is necessary to support exporters, Stalin said. "This higher dependency on the US market clearly implies that tariff impact on TN will be disproportionately greater than for most other Indian states," Stalin said. TN accounted for 28% of India's textile exports in 2024-2025, the largest contributor among all Indian states, he said. "Especially, our textile sector employs nearly 75 lakh people and with aproposed 50% tariff, an estimated 30 lakh jobs are at immediate risk. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo To mitigate this crisis, it is essential to address structural issues that have long hindered our export competitiveness," he added. Appreciating efforts of the Union govt to achieve a mutually beneficial trade agreement with the US, Stalin said, "Textile sector urgently needs support in two aspects correction of the GST inverted duty structure for the man-made fiber value chain by bringing the entire chain under a 5% GST slab, and exemption of import duty on all varieties of cotton." Sambhajinagar metro region development corporation shifts office, launches new logo

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The office of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Metropolitan Region Development Authority has been relocated to the Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL). The inauguration of the new office took place on Friday, coinciding with Independence Day, and was attended by district guardian minister Sanjay Shirsat and CSMRDA chairman and divisional commissioner Jitendra Papalkar. The newly designed logo of the CSMRDA was unveiled during the event. Shirsat emphasised the importance of developing CSMRDA as a planned metropolitan region. "The scope of CSMRDA has increased now, covering many parts of the district along with the city area. The authorities should submit proposals for providing necessary amenities, manpower, infrastructure, and other facilities. The necessary funding for the same will be arranged through govt," he said. Papalkar highlighted the necessity to prevent encroachments within the CSMRDA limits. "We have to act now to ensure illegal structures do not mushroom in the CSMRDA limits. These limits also house important industrial areas which need to be provided with effective road connectivity," he added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Papalkar also advocated for a road connecting Shendra and Bidkin industrial hubs of AURIC and a separate ring road for CSMRDA limits. The CSMRDA encompasses approximately 342 villages, including newly merged fringe areas previously under the jurisdiction of Cidco. Nearly 143 villages from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar are also included within the ambit of the CSMRDA, with these areas becoming part of extended municipal regions due to rapid urbanisation.
