Indian Air Force rescues 14 stranded individuals in flood-hit Arunachal Pradesh
Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) [India] June 2 (ANI): The Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully conducted a critical Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operation early this morning, rescuing 14 individuals stranded in the flooded Bomjir River in Arunachal Pradesh's Lower Dibang Valley.
According to Defence PRO, Guwahati, the operation was launched in response to an urgent request from the state administrations of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
The stranded individuals, cut off from the mainland due to severe flooding, were airlifted to safety using an IAF Mi-17 helicopter.
On Saturday, seven people were killed due to a landslide on the National Highway in Seppa West assembly constituency.
Natung expressed condolences over the loss of life in the incident that occurred between Bana village and the Seppa area and advised people to avoid travelling at night during the monsoon season.
'It's very painful to hear about the tragic loss of seven lives in my Assembly constituency due to a landslide on NH 13 Road between Bana & Seppa. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families during this difficult time. I request everyone to remain vigilant and avoid travelling at night during the monsoon season. On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the Chief Ministers of Assam, Manipur, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh in response to the ongoing heavy rainfall affecting these states. In an X post, Shah assured the states of all possible assistance from the central government to address any challenges arising from the situation.
'Spoke with the Chief Ministers of Assam, Manipur, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh in the wake of ongoing heavy rainfall in their states. Also assured them of every possible help to tackle any situation. The Modi government stands like a rock in support of the people of the Northeast,' Shah on X.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for Arunachal Pradesh for the coming week, till June 6, predicting 'very heavy rain, thunderstorm and Lightning' on May 31.
Meanwhile, the weather department has forecasted 'heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning' from June 1 to 5 while predicting only 'heavy rain' on June 5 and 6.
Earlier this week, the IMD issued a multi-hazard weather warning, predicting heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in many parts of the country. (ANI)

New Delhi [India], June 3 (ANI): The Ministry of Defence (MoD) issued an advisory to media organisations and journalists on Tuesday, urging them to respect the 'privacy of senior armed forces personnel and their families.' 'The Ministry of Defence appreciates the continued interest and support of the media in covering the activities, achievements, and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces- the Army, Navy and Air Force. Media engagement plays a critical role in informing the public and fostering a greater understanding of national security matters,' the Ministry said in its advisory. 'In the context of ongoing operations such as Operation Sindoor, senior officers across the Armed forces have rightfully come into the public eye owing to their leadership roles,' the Ministry said. 'It has come to the attention of the ministry that this increased focus has extended beyond professional coverage into the personal lives of the officers and their families. Media personnel have reportedly approached their residence, attempted to contact family members, and pursued personal coverage unrelated to their official duties,' it added. The Ministry said, 'Such actions are deeply inappropriate and potentially compromising to the dignity, privacy, and safety of the officers and their families. While senior officers may serve in prominent public roles, their families remain private citizens and must be treated with due respect and sensitivity.' The four points of advisory include -- - Refrain from visiting or attempting to contact the private residences or families of serving or retired Armed Forces personnel for personal stories or interviews, unless expressly invited or cleared through official channels. - Avoid publication or broadcast of personal details, including residential addresses, photographs of family members, or other non-operational information that is not in the public interest. - Focus media coverage on professional and operations aspects of Armed Forces activities and leadership, and avoid speculative or intrusive reporting on private lives. - Respect the boundaries of privacy and operational confidentiality, particularly during periods of active operations or heightened national security. 'The Ministry of Defence further reiterates its commitment to transparent and constructive engagement with the media. At the same time, it appeals to all media stakeholders to maintain responsible journalistic standards, respecting the personal space and dignity of those who serve the nation and their families,' it added. Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 3 (ANI): Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Tuesday said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the focus of India's national health policy is to develop a 'holistic health care system', which not only focuses curative part in health care but also emphasises on the preventive care, palliative care, rehabilitative care, geriatric care and promotional health care. Nadda was addressing the newly passed out students from several branches of healthcare education at 15th Convocation of KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER), held at JNMC Campus in Belagavi, Karnataka. Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Chemical and Fertilisers, JP Nadda, attended the event as the Chief Guest and Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, was present as the Guest of Honour. On this occasion, Dr. Shailesh V. Shrikhande, Deputy Director of Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, was conferred with the honorary Degree of Doctor of Science to mark his exemplary contribution to the field of medical sciences. Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Chancellor of KAHER, presided over the event, and Dr. Nitin M. Gangane, Vice Chancellor, presented the University report. The minister also expressed his happiness over seeing an integrated convocation ceremony, where students of various disciplines i.e. allopathy, homeopathy, nursing, dental, pharmacy, Ayurveda, Physiotherapy etc. were receiving their respective degrees and medals. 'For years, there has been a practise of working in silos. One branch didn't recognize others. It is PM Modi's vision that we should adapt an integrated approach. In AIIMS, Delhi, a Centre for Integrative Medicine and Research (CIMR) is result of this holistic approach,' Nadda said. He added, 'I am very delighted to see the integration here at this convocation, where students of allopathy, Ayurveda, Pharmacy etc. are getting their degrees at a single stage.' Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said that under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and stewardship of Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, India has taken a leap in medical education and health care. MP: Pachmarhi Sanctuary to be named after Raja Bhabhoot Singh, says CM Yadav
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 3 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday announced to name the Pachmarhi Sanctuary after Gond ruler Raja Bhabhoot Singh, a symbol of the tribal community's bravery and valour. The CM also chaired a cabinet meeting at Raj Bhavan in Pachmarhi in memory of the Gond ruler and remembered his legacy. Ahead of the cabinet meeting, while addressing the council of ministers, the CM announced to rename the Pachmarhi Sanctuary 'The Pachmarhi Sanctuary will now be known as 'Raja Bhabhoot Singh Pachmarhi Sanctuary'. This renaming is dedicated to Raja Bhabhoot Singh's love for nature and his lifelong efforts to protect Pachmarhi from foreign forces. The sanctuary will also showcase details of Raja Bhabhoot Singh's life, his struggles, valour, and contributions. This move aims to enhance local pride and strengthen the identity of the sanctuary, making it a symbol of both historical and natural heritage,' the CM said. He also stated that Raja Bhabhoot Singh had a deep influence on the tribal society, and his tales of bravery still resonate in the public consciousness. Holding the cabinet meeting in Pachmarhi is a tribute to his legacy. Recalling Raja Bhabhut Singh's contributions, the Chief Minister said that he was a close ally of freedom fighter Tatya Tope during the 1857 War of Independence. Known for his guerrilla warfare tactics, Bhabhut Singh was referred to as the 'Shivaji of Narmadanchal.' The British had to summon the Madras Infantry to capture him. Despite constant battles against the British until 1860, they could only arrest him after two years and subsequently hanged him the same year. Additionally, CM announced that three tribal community conventions will be organized this month. The Baiga Convention at Bajag in Dindori on June 7, Kol Convention in Beohari, Shahdol on June 9 to mark Birsa Munda Jayanti, and Sahariya Convention in Kolaras, Shivpuri on June 18. He also informed that from June 9 to 21, state-wide events will be held to commemorate 11 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public welfare governance. Additionally, the birth centenary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be celebrated, who shared a special bond with Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister further noted that May was a month full of developmental achievements for Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister Modi inaugurated new airports in Datia and Satna, and the Metro in Indore. He also released the first installment for the construction of 1,271 Atal Gram Good Governance Buildings. These milestones reflect the state's progress in development and welfare. Furthermore, CM Yadav shared that Khandwa district has set a national record in water conservation under the 'Water Conservation - Public Participation Campaign' for the period from April 1, 2024, to May 31, 2025. Khandwa ranked first in the country among districts, while Madhya Pradesh secured fourth place among states. This is a matter of pride for the state. The Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan is being run from March 30 to June 30, and the Chief Minister called upon all cabinet members to lead public awareness and participation in water conservation efforts in their respective regions.
