Diff'rent Strokes actor Gary Coleman's ex-wife fails polygraph over his 2010 death

7NEWS10-07-2025
Gary Coleman's former wife has failed a voluntary lie detector test about the circumstances surrounding his death.
The late Diff'rent Strokes actor - who died in 2010 from an intracranial haemorrhage aged 42 after falling at home - married Shannon Price in 2007 but they divorced the following year, though she continued living together and in May 2010, she claimed she had found Coleman in a pool of blood following his fall.
The actor's death was ruled accidental and Price was never charged with a crime, but she has faced questions over her involvement with Coleman's passing, and a 911 recording of her emergency call revealed her refusing to listen to the operator's instructions to help.
Speaking in upcoming series Lie Detector: Truth or Deception, People magazine reports she said: 'I literally, my whole life, have had the odds working against me.
'And so I'm hoping, I'm really hoping, for a good outcome. Not everyone is perfect at taking a polygraph test, but I have a glimmer of hope that this will work out in my favour, and people will be like, okay, you know what? She's just a normal girl that had an unfortunate situation happen.'
Price - who had Coleman removed from life support after two days in a medically-induced coma following his fall - admitted she was a 'little nervous' to hear the results of the 'stressful' polygraph test, which was administered by former FBI agent George Olivo.
The examiner explained he evaluated the results, then ran the data through a computer system before getting another analysis from a fellow retired FBI tester.
He said: 'All three independent results are the same.'
Price was first asked if she had ever struck Coleman during their relationship, and though she said no, the findings were inconclusive.
Olivo said: 'I'm not going to say that you passed that test, because you didn't.'
Price insisted: 'I would never hurt him in that manner or that sense, because his life was so fragile. Daily life was a struggle for him, and I would never want to hurt him.'
She then received another inconclusive result when she denied having intentionally withheld proper aid from her former spouse after his fall.
The examiner said: 'That, statistically, raises a little bit of an eyebrow.
'Then again, you're the same person sitting there who's still nervous and who's still a bit distracted. But here's the way I look at it, this question having to do with you doing everything that you could possibly do for Gary when he fell, when you called 911, is an issue that you've had in your mind for 14 years, and it's still not resolved in your mind.'
Price admitted: 'As far as rendering aid, I could have helped him a little bit more.
'I will say, the operator could have helped as well a little bit by asking me more specific questions.'
But Olivo said: 'Forget the 911 operator, you were there. Little bit of tough love now. You're not the victim here, he's the victim.'
Finally, Price 'failed the exam' when asked directly if she physically caused Gary's fall, with the lie detector finding 'deception indicated' when she said no.

TristanRogers dead at 79

Tristan Rogers has died at the age of 79. The Australian actor - who was best known for playing Robert Scorpio on General Hospital - passed away on Friday (15.08.25), just weeks after it was announced he had been diagnosed with cancer. His manager, Meryl Soodak, confirmed the news to ABC 7 Eyewitness News and reflected on how Tristan's long-time role on the medical drama had "meant everything to him". She added: "He loved being Scorpio and he created that role from nothing. "He was supposed to work a day and he ended up making it into something huge. He was just a genuinely loyal, kind human being and he loved his family." General Hospital's executive producer, Frank Valentini, said everyone who worked on the show had been left "heartbroken" by Tristan's death. He told People magazine in a statement: "The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Tristan Rogers' passing. Tristan has captivated our fans for 45 years and Port Charles will not be the same without him (or Robert Scorpio). "I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family and friends during this difficult time. Tristan was a one-of-a-kind talent and will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace. Co-star Emma Samms, who briefly dated Tristan and played his on-scren love interest Holly, was "grateful" they had worked together for so long. She wrote on social media: "I am incredibly sad to hear the news about Tristan. I loved working with him and we were both so grateful that we got the chance to do that for more than 40 years. "He taught me how to be comfortable in front of the cameras and he introduced me to spontaneity and fun even within all the trials and tribulations that Robert and Holly endured.' Genie Francis felt "lucky" to have known the star. She shared a photo of them together and wrote on X: "My heart is heavy. Goodbye my spectacular friend. My deepest condolences to his wife Teresa and their children. Tristan Rogers was a very bright light, as an actor and a person. I was so lucky to have known him." Rick Springfield remembered his late co-star as a "charming" and "witty bloke". He posted: "Aussies are made of tough stuff but even tough stuff has its expiration date. Our friend Tristan Rogers, a charming, self deprecating, handsome and witty bloke from the Great Southern Land went home today. Bless and keep your spirit Tristan. Cancer sucks." The veteran actor joined General Hospital as Robert Scorpio in 1980 before leaving in 1992 when his alter ego was apparently killed. He briefly reprised the role - in ghost form - for a week in 1995 and made sporadic appearances in 2006. In 2008, he joined General Hospital: Night Shift and also appeared in four episodes of the main show the same year. He made frequent further appearances between 2012 and 2018 and rejoined the cast on a more permanent basis from 2019, with his most recent appearance coming last year. Away from the medical drama, Tristan also had a stint as Colin Atkinson on The Young and the Restless, appeared in over 100 episodes of The Bay, and received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for his work in Studio City. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Parkerson, and children, Sara and Cale.

Pete Davidson 'grew tired' of focus on his personal life

Pete Davidson has found the focus on his personal life to be "traumatic". The 31-year-old comedian has dated a host of famous women, including Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, Kaia Gerber, Margaret Qualley, and Phoebe Dynevor, but Pete felt frustrated that people often knew him for his high-profile love life, rather than his comedy talent. He said on The Breakfast Club: "It just got to a point where I was ... I got really tired of my whole career just being like my personal life. And living through that is it's sort of traumatic. Like not to be like lame, but like it's traumatic to live in your own crap all the time." Pete also hated the experience of being sexualised by the public. The comedy star explained: "I don't want to victimise myself in any way because I'm cool, but the sexualisation of me — if that was a girl, people would be like, there would be a march for it ... Seriously. You're just talking about my d*** all day." Pete and his girlfriend Elsie Hewitt are currently expecting their first child together, and the actor recently claimed that his impending fatherhood has given him a new perspective on life. Pete - who shot to stardom on Saturday Night Live, before turning his focus towards the movie industry - told People magazine: 'I'm just excited to take care of the little one. The second I found out the news, I was like, 'Oh wow, what I do is just a job.' "I realised I was kind of basing my happiness on work, which is ridiculously unhealthy. So it gave me this weird sense of calmness, where this is just a job and now I have someone to do it for." The King of Staten Island star is already looking forward to his child enjoying playdates with four-month-old Saga, the daughter of his friend Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox. Pete - who began dating Elsie in March - said: "We're going to have awesome play dates. Yeah, that's [going to be] a cool play date."

Pete Davidson claims smoking weed sent him into a psychosis

Pete Davidson has claimed smoking weed once sent him into a psychosis. The 31-year-old comedian has managed to kick the habit, but admits he used to be a 'big drug addict' and even experienced a psychotic episode in which he lost touch with reality. He told Power 105.1 FM's The Breakfast Club: 'I was a daily, all day sorta guy and I got psychosis where you hear voices, and you feel like you're sitting next to yourself, weed isn't supposed to do that … it's because it's too strong." The stand-up admitted that after coming to prominence on Saturday Night Live in 2014, he used drugs to cope with the pressures of fame. He said: 'Yeah, I was just doing drugs and trying to do comedy — you know what I mean? I didn't kill anyone or anything, but it's still… you don't want that out, you want to be able to grow. 'That's what we don't really have anymore — any form of privacy, I feel like, for young people where you, like, get to make those mistakes and learn your lessons, and it not be in Page Six.' Despite countless trips to rehab, Pete admitted it didn't help. He said: 'I was a big drug addict — I would go to rehab and stuff, and I do have mental stuff, and I was in therapy, but if you're a drug addict none of that works. 'You can't go to therapy on a bunch of drugs and expedite it to work.' It wasn't until his relationships started suffering that he decided enough was enough. He explained: 'I'm not a person who can do things in moderation, unfortunately, and I think I was kinda trying to fool myself — be like, 'You can do this' — and it just got to a point where people I really cared about were like, I will not f*** with you anymore.' Some of them don't still. Most of them, I will say, came back.' Pete is grateful he experienced the 'crazy stuff' related to his drug use early in life, while he was still young enough to recover and grow from it. He said: '[It] got a little out of control fast, and I was really young … I'm glad all the bad, crazy stuff happened in my 20s. 'I'm glad I got it out of the way, but it's tough when you're young and doing that. I'm jealous of people who blow up when they're 35 because they have a full life, they have their family, they have their friends, and they know who they are as people.' He added: 'When you don't know who you are yet and you're just in the news all the time for literally bull****, it's embarrassing, it sucks. I'm grateful that, not that it's excusable, but that I was really young.' Pete opening up about his past drug use comes as he's preparing to become a father for the first time. The Bodies Bodies Bodies actor and his girlfriend Elsie Hewitt revealed in July that they are expecting their first child together. He told People magazine of his impending fatherhood: 'I'm just excited to take care of the little one. The second I found out the news, I was like, 'Oh wow, what I do is just a job.' "I realised I was kind of basing my happiness on work, which is ridiculously unhealthy. So it gave me this weird sense of calmness, where this is just a job and now I have someone to do it for.'
