Sanjay Raut slams PM Modi for politicising 'Operation Sindoor', accuses him of insulting sacred tradition
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 30 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, accusing them of politicizing 'Operation Sindoor' and taking undue credit for the military operation conducted by Indian soldiers.
'The politics of Operation Sindoor the Prime Minister of the country is going to every state and doing, this operation our soldiers have done it but there is competition to take credit for it, our Prime Minister is at the forefront of it, nobody can go and give the sacred system of Sindoor to anyone, if you send BJP workers to the women, then you are insulting Sindoor..,' he said.
Raut took a dig at the BJP, alleging that the six terrorists from Pahalgam remain at large, hinting they might join the BJP, as per a potential press note from the party.
'The six terrorists from Pahalgam are not being caught because maybe one day you will get a press note from the BJP office that those six people have joined the BJP,' he said.
Meanwhile, Raut further announced that opposition parties have united to submit a letter, signed by all, requesting a special session under Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's leadership.
'Opposition people have once again come forward, and we are giving a letter with everyone's signature for a special session under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi,' he said.
Earlier, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had reiterated the party's position in calling for a special session of Parliament to discuss Operation Sindoor.
'We demanded that there should be an all-party meeting and the Prime Minister should preside over it. Two meetings have been held. It was a formality. The Defence Minister chaired it. Nothing came out of it; no discussion took place. The questions we asked were asked in a constructive, serious, and sensitive manner, but there was no response to that. The atmosphere was one of unity and cohesion. On May 10, both Kharge ji and Rahul ji wrote to the Prime Minister asking him to call a special session of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Why should it be called? So that we can repeat the special resolution that was passed unanimously on February 22, 1994, regarding PoK, regarding the issue of terrorism. In the last 30 years, both countries have become nuclear countries and more than that, the role of China has become deep in Pakistan; it is also a challenge for us. So there should be a debate on this. And a resolution should be passed unanimously, so that the message of a collective resolution is given to the world. He is silent on this, too,' he said.

'Now we will kill even by entering their home and whoever helps the terrorists will also have to pay a heavy price. 140 crore countrymen are saying that if you fire bullets, then accept that bullets will be answered with shells,' he added. In the programme, women wearing vermillion colour sarees were managing the crowd to give tribute to army and the prime minister. Elaborating the importance of sindoor in Indian tradition, Modi said, 'In our culture, sindoor is a powerful symbol of womanhood and strength. Lord Hanuman, devoted to Lord Ram is adorned with sindoor. We offer it during Shakti Puja as a mark of reverence. Today, that same sindoor has become a symbol of India's courage and valour.' Paying tribute to Devi Ahilyabai, Modi said, 'The words fall short in describing her remarkable personality. She symbolises the power of strong will and determination, demonstrating that no matter how adverse the circumstances, transformative outcomes can be achieved. Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar never distinguished between service to the divine and service to the people.' She led a state during such an era, like wearing a crown of thorns. Yet, Lokmata Ahilyabai provided a new direction for her state's prosperity, dedicating herself to empowering even the poorest, Modi said. He remembered her contribution to the culture of India and preserving temples. Praising the good governance of Ahilyabai, Modi said, 'She implemented an exemplary governance model that prioritised the welfare of the poor and marginalised. She launched numerous initiatives to boost employment and entrepreneurship by promoting agriculture, cottage industries based on forest produce, and handicrafts. Talking about how she had worked for tribal and nomadic tribe, Modi said it was his privilege to work under the direction of a tribal woman who is the President of India, Draupadi Murmu. He further said now people bring 'secularism' when we talk about age of marriage of women but Devi Ahilyabai Holkar had raised the matter like raising the minimum age for girls' marriage, securing women's right to property, and supporting widows' remarriage—issues that were difficult to even discuss in her time. Modi said his government is upholding the principle of 'Nagrik Devo Bhava' as mantra of governance following Devi Ahilyabai. He also hailed the schemes of the BJP-led central government like drone didi, Nal Jal scheme, Swacch Bharat, housing for all, Ayushman and others, saying, 'These schemes changed the lives of women in India. These are not just facilities, these are our humble efforts to honour our mothers and sisters.' Earlier, Modi inaugurated the Indore Metro project, Madhya Pradesh's first. He also inaugurated Satna and Datia Airports. Chief minister Mohan Yadav and Governor Mangubhai Patel also attended the programme.

NEW DELHI: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday targeted the Modi government following the remarks made by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan on Operation Sindoor in an interview in Singapore. Kharge claimed that the nation had been misled and demanding a special session of Parliament to address the issue. 'In the wake of the remarks made by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) in Singapore in an interview, there are some very important questions which need to be asked.
