Hooded yob seen launching brick at window of Fife house
A hooded thug has been captured lobbing a brick through a window of a Fife home, as police launch a probe.
On Tuesday August 19, at around 4.50pm, a man wearing a full grey tracksuit and covering his face with his hood was caught vandalising a property on Martin Street in Buckhaven.
In a video shared to social media, the yob was recorded sneaking around the side of the house before taking a brick from the back of the garden and launching it through a downstairs window.
In the clip, another low-level window to the left is also cracked. The hood is then seen running off after the attack on the home.
The vandalism took place in broad daylight with neighbours already out in their gardens before the home was struck.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 4.50pm on Tuesday, 19 August, 2025, we received a report of vandalism to a property on Martin Street, Buckhaven.
'Enquiries are ongoing.'
Last month, in a separate incident, we reported that a cruel vandal carried out a hammer attack on a lifeline van owned by a poverty and homelessness charity in Glasgow.
The Halliday Foundation chief Chris Halliday was in a meeting with a housing association when the incident took place on Duke Street, in the city's Dennistoun area, at around 4.15pm on Wednesday, July 16.
Chris, who watched the moment unfold on CCTV, said a man riding an orange bike struck the van's windows with a 'hammer' before leaving the scene. He said it was a 'malicious attack', and confirmed nothing was stolen from the vehicle.
Pictures taken in the aftermath of the incident show the extent of the damag e, with the street and the van's interior left covered in smashed glass.
The damaged motor has been taken off the road, causing delays in delivering essential items to some of the city's most vulnerable people.
Chris, 35, told the Record: "I just could not believe it. You don't expect it to happen. I opened the van door and the window just smashed and fell on the road.
"It was someone on an orange bike. He just stopped at the van, took a hammer out of his jacket and hit the wing mirror with it, then hit the window before cycling away again.
"I definitely think it's targeted and malicious. It's not as if it's someone who just thinks 'I'm going to smash a van', because surely you wouldn't hit a charity van."

Labour MSP Colin Smyth charged over indecent images
A Scottish MSP has been arrested and charged in connection with possession of indecent images. Colin Smyth, who has represented South Scotland since 2016, was arrested on Tuesday, resulting in his immediate suspension from Scottish Labour. He is due to appear in court at a later date. The Scottish parliament website now lists Smyth as an independent. A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: 'On Tuesday 5 August 2025, officers executed a warrant at a property [in] Dumfries. A 52-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with possession of indecent images. He is due to appear at Dumfries sheriff court at a later date.' A spokesperson for Scottish Labour confirmed that the whip had been removed from Smyth, pending an investigation. 'We cannot comment further on this matter while the investigation is ongoing,' the spokesperson added. Smyth issued a statement on Wednesday, saying: 'These events have come as a shock and this is a deeply stressful time. I am obviously cooperating fully with any inquiries and hope the matter can be resolved quickly. 'I am not able to comment further at this stage, and in the meantime I would ask for the privacy of my family and friends to be respected.' Smyth was first elected as an MSP in 2016 and previously served as Scottish Labour's general secretary. He nominated Anas Sarwar in the 2021 Scottish Labour leadership election and was later appointed spokesperson for constitution, Europe and external affairs.

Six severed heads dumped on road on busy street alongside chilling warning
Six severed heads have been dumped on a roadside in central Mexico - sparking terror in a region normally untouched by cartel violence. Six severed heads have been discovered on a road in central Mexico, sparking a major police investigation. The route where the remains were found connects the central states of Puebla and Tlaxcala. Police have yet to reveal a motive behind the killings or name the gangs who may have carried out the horror. A blanket was left at the scene with a chilling warning to rival gangs, according to local media. It was reportedly signed by a group calling itself La Barredora, which translates as "The Sweeper". 'La Barredora' happens to be the name of a little-known criminal gang that operates in the western state of Guerrero, however, there's no clarity on whether the cartel was behind the attack or their motive. The Tlaxcala Prosecutor's Office confirmed the victims were men and has launched a full investigation. Federal authorities are yet to comment. The shocking discovery comes in a region usually associated with fuel smuggling - known locally as 'huachicoleo' - a multi-billion dollar racket run by organised crime. It also follows a huge crackdown on fentanyl trafficking launched by President Claudia Sheinbaum's administration. Unlike states ravaged by cartel violence, Puebla and Tlaxcala, just over 100km from Mexico City, are seen as relatively peaceful. Tlaxcala accounts for just 0.5% of the 14,769 intentional homicides recorded nationwide between January and July, while Puebla makes up 3.4%. But both states have problems with gangs moving drugs, people and stolen fuel due to their central location. In 2022, Puebla authorities found 116 migrants crammed inside a truck. Elsewhere, in June this year, 20 men were found dead with gunshot wounds in cartel-ravaged Sinaloa, five of them decapitated. And in May, a gun attack at a Catholic festival in Guanajuato left seven young people dead. Meanwhile, in May, a shooting at a Catholic Church festival in the central state of Guanajuato resulted in the deaths of seven Mexican youths. Mexico has been gripped by soaring cartel violence since 2006, when the government first sent in the military. Hundreds of thousands have been killed and tens of thousands remain missing.
