Hindustan Times30-04-2025

Facebook Memories is a carefully thought-out feature that, every now and then, can remind you of some beautiful moments from the past. It works on nostalgia, and a whole lot of other feelings. But at the same time, it may not be enjoyable for everyone, especially when a specific memory ends up doing more harm than good. In such cases, Facebook gives you the option to disable the Memories feature entirely. And it is quite easy to do.

Now Elon Musk is pissed and ... , says angry Laura Loomer on Republicans for tiff with Tesla CEO

Laura Loomer has slammed the Republican Party for driving away Elon Musk , whom she termed as 'their biggest donor'. In a post on social media X, Loomer criticized Republican Party, popularly known as Grand Old Party ( GOP ) for failing to codify spending cuts proposed under Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). She further suggested that their inaction may have cost them critical support ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. 'Leave it to the GOP to push their biggest donor away,' Loomer wrote. 'All they had to do was codify the DOGE cuts and they could have had unlimited funding for the midterms. They somehow managed to F that up,' she added. In her post, Loomer was referring to Musk's recent announcement to step down from DOGE and his advisory role in the Trump administration. The Tesla CEO has been leading the DOGE task force to cut federal waste and streamlining government spending. He later expressed public disappointment over the 'One Big Beautiful Bill Act,' which failed to reflect the aggressive cuts he had championed. 'Now @elonmusk is pissed and walking away. Can't really blame him,' Loomer added. Musk's departure marks a significant shift for the GOP, which has leaned heavily on his financial and technological influence in recent years. With the midterms approaching and party divisions deepening, Loomer's post reflects a growing frustration among right-wing influencers over what they see as a squandered opportunity to secure both policy wins and campaign funding. The post comes amid rising tensions between Musk and some of Trump's top advisers, including those who publicly defended the controversial spending bill. iPhone 16e: 5 Reasons to buy the most affordable iPhone 16 series model! Upcoming phone launches in June 2025: OnePlus 13s, Infinix GT 30 Pro, Vivo T4 Ultra and more

If you're planning to buy a new smartphone right now, it may be prudent to wait a while, with June shaping up to be a month of power-packed launches, from the OnePlus 13s to the Infinix GT 30 Pro and even the Vivo T4 Ultra. Here's a look at all the phones expected to debut in India next month. The Infinix GT 30 Pro is set to debut in India on 3 June. It will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor — the same chipset that powers Motorola's Edge 60 Pro, which launched in India last month. The phone features what Infinix calls a 'Cyber Mecha Design', with white lighting on the Blade White variant and RGB lighting on the Dark Flare version. It also comes with shoulder triggers to offer users more control while gaming. While more details about the GT 30 Pro remain under wraps for now, its global debut has already given us a fair idea of what to expect from this new gaming-focused device. You can head over to our previous article to check out everything we know so far. The era of compact phones in India is about to begin with the OnePlus 13s, launching on 5 June. The phone will feature a 6.32-inch form factor and will be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor found in the OnePlus 13 (Review). Apart from its compact size, the 13s is also notable for introducing the Plus key, OnePlus' take on the iPhone's Action Button, replacing the iconic alert slider. This new key will also support calling up AI Plus Mind, which OnePlus says will help users save, catalogue, and recall key information shown on-screen. Vivo has confirmed that the T4 Ultra will launch in India soon, featuring a periscope telephoto camera with up to 100x zoom. While an exact launch date isn't confirmed yet, the phone is expected to arrive in the first half of June. Leaks suggest the T4 Ultra could feature a 6.67-inch pOLED 120Hz display and be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 processor. It may also come equipped with a 50MP IMX921 primary sensor and a 50MP periscope lens, along with support for 90W charging. Initially rumoured to launch in May, the Poco F7 is now expected to debut in India in June 2025. According to leaks, it could be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, the same SoC used in the recently launched iQOO Neo 10 (Review). The phone may come with LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 storage and a massive 7,550mAh battery with 90W wired fast charging. On the camera front, the Poco F7 is expected to offer a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra wide angle lens and a 20MP selfie shooter. The OnePlus Nord CE 5 has already received BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification in India and is expected to launch in June. According to leaks, the device could sport a 6.78-inch flat Full HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It may be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor and pack a 7,100mAh battery. In terms of optics, the Nord CE 5 could feature a 50MP Sony LYT-600 primary camera and an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide lens.

Instagram adds 3:4 aspect ratio for uncropped, full-frame photo sharing

In a notable update aimed at enhancing user experience, Instagram has officially introduced support for 3:4 aspect ratio photographs on its platform. The change aligns with the default setting found on most smartphone cameras, allowing users to upload images without needing to crop them to fit Instagram's previously supported dimensions. Announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri via Threads—Meta's microblogging service—the update means that photos taken in the 3:4 format will now appear on the platform exactly as captured. This new compatibility is available for both single-image uploads and carousel posts. You may be interested in 'For those posting photos in 3:4, they will now be displayed just as you shot them,' Mosseri said, highlighting the platform's push to better accommodate mobile photography. Until now, Instagram primarily supported square (1:1) and slightly vertical (5:4 or 4:5) aspect ratios. Although those formats will continue to be supported, users capturing photos in the standard 3:4 format often found themselves forced to crop their images, potentially losing important visual details. The newly introduced format ensures a fuller display of original content, as seen in comparison images shared via Instagram's creator broadcast channel. The platform has also been expanding its suite of content creation tools. Last month, Instagram launched a dedicated video editing application called Edits. Positioned as a competitor to ByteDance's popular CapCut app, Edits allows creators to edit videos on their smartphones and export them to various platforms without watermarks—making it a versatile tool for content creators. Additionally, Instagram recently introduced the Blend feature. Designed to personalise content discovery within messages, Blend offers an invite-only feed that recommends Reels based on shared user interests and activity. After a year of testing, the feature is now available on both iOS and Android versions of the app. These latest updates underline Instagram's continued efforts to enhance usability and creative flexibility for its global user base, whether by matching default camera settings or by expanding content creation and sharing capabilities.
