Samsung announces Exynos 2600, 2nm chip likely to power Galaxy S26 Edge and S26 Pro
There is also talk about improved thermal control. Samsung is reportedly introducing a new cooling approach called Heat Pass Block or HPB. This change could help the chip maintain stable performance during demanding tasks while keeping battery drain and overheating in check.Benchmark results allegedly linked to the Exynos 2600 suggest that the chip could offer solid performance gains. According to leaks, it managed to score over 2,100 points in single-core and close to 7,800 in multi-core tests. If accurate, this would represent a noticeable upgrade from previous Exynos processors. The new chip is said to follow a 10-core CPU layout, possibly including one prime core running at around 3.55GHz, three performance cores clocked at 2.9GHz, and six efficiency cores at roughly 2.46GHz. This mix is designed to strike a balance between power and energy savings, especially for everyday usage.Meanwhile, the broader competition in the chip market is also heating up. Qualcomm is preparing its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, while Apple is expected to launch the A19 Pro chip with the iPhone 17 Pro models. The Snapdragon chip has reportedly scored over 4,000 in single-core and more than 11,000 in multi-core performance on Geekbench 6, according to tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo. This suggests Qualcomm may once again push ahead in raw performance. The same source suggests that the A19 Pro could deliver single-core scores of over 4,000 and multi-core results above 10,000 on Geekbench. These scores would put it roughly 15 to 20 percent ahead of the current A18 Pro used in iPhone 16 Pro models. Both of these chips are said to offer strong performance, and they are likely to appear in flagship smartphones around the same time as Samsung's new devices.- Ends
