Jersey's capital St Helier spray-painted with dozens of swastikas, racist and homophobic slurs
An all-girls primary school, public parks, a bus stop and toilets are among the places affected.
Benches, roads, bins, walls and pavements have all been targeted.
Much of the graffiti is too extreme to repeat but includes racist and homophobic slurs.
Two of the messages read, "N****** LEAVE NOW" and "STOP GAY PRIDE" next to swastikas. Another says, "MEN DESERVE JUSTICE".
The island's Chief Minister, Deputy Lyndon Farnham, says he is "deeply disturbed" and has strongly condemned the "cowardly and destructive act".
Deputy Farnham adds: "Jersey is an inclusive, tolerant, and respectful society. There is no place here for messages of hate or division. Such behaviour not only damages property, but it attempts to undermine the very values that bind us together: mutual respect, dignity, and compassion."
The head of the Jersey Jewish Congregation, Martha Bernstein, says she is "disappointed and shocked" by the widespread graffiti, adding that it "stirs up unpleasant memories" for those who lived through the Nazi Occupation of the Channel Islands.
Just two months ago, thousands gathered in Jersey and Guernsey to celebrate Liberation Day - marking 80 years since the end of German rule.
The States of Jersey Police says it is investigating and reviewing CCTV footage, with the first report made at 7:30am on Friday 11 July.
It states "numerous logs regarding offensive graffiti" have been made, including at West Park, People's Park and Helvetia School - involving vehicles, buildings and general public areas.
Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity overnight or has nearby CCTV is asked to contact officers on 01534 612612 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 111 555.
The affected areas are being cleaned up by local people and government teams.

Ukraine launches drone attack on Russian factory ahead of peace summit
Nizhny Novgorod governor Gleb Nikitin said in an online statement that drones targeted two 'industrial zones' that caused unspecified damage along with the three casualties. A Ukrainian official said at least four drones launched by the country's security services, or SBU, struck a plant in the city of Arzamas that produced components for the Khinzal 32 and Khinzal 101 missiles. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss operations, said the Plandin plant produces gyroscopic devices, control systems and on-board computers for the missiles and is an 'absolutely legitimate target' because it is part of the Russian military-industrial complex that works for the war against Ukraine. Russia's defence ministry said its air defences intercepted and destroyed a total of 39 Ukrainian drones overnight and Monday morning over several Russian regions as well as over the Crimean peninsula that Russia annexed in 2014. The summit, which US President Donald Trump will host in Alaska later this week, sees Mr Putin unwavering on his demands to keep all the Ukrainian territory his forces now occupy but also to prevent Kyiv from joining Nato with the long-term aim to keep the country within Moscow's sphere of influence. Mr Putin believes he enjoys the advantage on the ground as Ukrainian forces struggle to hold back Russian advances along the 600-mile front. But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky insists he will never consent to any Russian annexation of Ukrainian territory nor give up his country's bid for Nato membership. European leaders have rallied behind Ukraine, saying peace in the war-torn nation cannot be resolved without Kyiv. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also spoke with Mr Trump on Sunday, Mr Merz's spokesman said on Monday, but did not disclose the contents of the talks. Spokesman Steffen Meyer reiterated that the German government 'has always emphasised that borders must not be shifted by force' and that Ukraine should decide its own fate 'independently and autonomously'. Meanwhile, on the front lines, few Ukrainian soldiers believe there is an end in sight to the war, other than a brief respite before Moscow resumes its attacks with even greater might.

Trump likens DC to ‘worst places on Earth' as military takes over nation's capital: ‘Wild youth, maniacs and homeless'
President Donald Trump on Monday invoked a never-before-used authority to seize control of the Washington, D.C. police department and hand it over to one of his own appointees as he simultaneously ordered the city's national guard to begin patrolling the streets, casting the unprecedented move as needed to 'rescue' the city from 'crime, bloodshed, bedlam and squalor and worse.' Flanked by a group of cabinet and law enforcement officials as he stood before reporters in the White House briefing room, Trump declared the day 'Liberation Day in DC' as he said he was invoking a section of the decades-old home rule charter for Washington that allows the president to demand the services of the Metropolitan Police Department to deal with 'special conditions of an emergency.' 'Our capital city has been overtaken by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals roving mobs of wild youth, drugged out maniacs and homeless people, and we're not going to let it happen anymore,' Trump said as he compared the situation in Washington to the country's southern border.

Donald Trump sends National Guard to DC to curb street crime
During a White House press conference on Monday, the Republican leader also invoked section 740 of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, which allows for the DC Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to be placed under federal control. He branded the move a 'Liberation Day' for DC, despite the action being disproportionate to crime statistics in the area. READ MORE: Pro-trans activists' protest forces Scottish city's chambers to close 'I'm announcing a historic action to rescue our nation's capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam and squalor and worse', the convicted felon told reporters. The city's mayor, Democrat Muriel Bowser, rejected Trump's claims about crime, telling MSNBC: 'We are not experiencing a crime spike.' She said that a crime spike had impacted the capital in 2023, though violent crime is now down 26% compared to 2024 – placing its crime rates at a 30-year low. Federal crime statistics also counter Trump's claims, showing rates in DC mirror a nationwide trend of declining offence rates over the past two years. Trump claimed that DC has a higher murder rate than some of the 'worst places on Earth', referencing cities like Lima, Mexico City and Baghdad. In response, Bowser said that likening the city to a war-torn area like Baghdad is 'hyperbolic and false'. The news comes after the White House's announcement of a plan to deploy federal law enforcement on the streets of Washington on Thursday – an initiative that appears to have been prompted by the recent assault on former DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) employee Edward Coristine during an attempted carjacking In the press conference, he also falsely claimed to be heading to Russia on Friday to speak with Vladimir Putin; Putin will in fact be meeting Trump in Alaska as the president aims to end the war in Ukraine.
