2 Non-IFRS measure. For more information regarding our use of these non-IFRS measures and, where applicable, a reconciliation to the most comparable IFRS measure, see 'Non-IFRS Financial Measures' in the Company's MD&A for the period ended March 31, 2025.

3 Adjusted EBITDA, adjusted revenue and adjusted net income (loss) are non-IFRS measures. Management has not reconciled these forward-looking non-IFRS measures to their most directly comparable IFRS measure, net loss before tax. This is because the Company cannot predict with reasonable certainty and without unreasonable efforts the ultimate outcome of certain IFRS components of such reconciliations due to market-related assumptions that are not within our control as well as certain legal or advisory costs, tax costs or other costs that may arise. For these reasons, management is unable to assess the probable significance of the unavailable information, which could materially impact the amount of the future directly comparable IFRS measures.

KANANASKIS, AB, June 17, 2025 /CNW/ - Yesterday in Kananaskis, Alberta, Prime Ministers Mark Carney and Giorgia Meloni met on the margins of the G7 Summit and reaffirmed the vitality and strategic value of the Canada-Italy partnership and their fruitful cooperation within the UN, NATO and the G7 to foster global peace, the rule of law, economic growth and prosperity and strong international institutions. The Prime Ministers took stock of the implementation of the Italy-Canada Roadmap for Enhanced Collaboration, including the launch of a Joint Advisory Group on Artificial Intelligence, a Joint Statement on Critical Minerals and Critical Raw Materials Cooperation, actions to enhance cooperation in defence, outer space, science, technology and innovation, and mutual economic prosperity . As agreed during Prime Minister Carney's recent visit to Rome, a Canada-Italy Energy Dialogue will be launched in the coming months to enhance cooperation on critical minerals, conventional and clean energies, and hydrogen. Acknowledging the unprecedented challenges facing the world since the Roadmap was launched last year, and the need to seize on new opportunities, Prime Ministers Carney and Meloni announced additional cooperation between Canada and Italy the following areas: Prosperity and Innovation Building on the strong foundation enabled by the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, the Leaders committed to deepening commercial ties and diversifying trade between Canada and Italy. This would include organizing high level business and investment trade missions, aimed at foster greater engagement between respective industry and private capital stakeholders, in priority sectors such as energy, life sciences, defence and infrastructure. Noting also the recent high tempo of interaction between Canadian and Italian researchers and industrial stakeholders on artificial intelligence, quantum computing, clean technologies, nuclear and photonics, the Prime Ministers encouraged the pursuit of further opportunities for cooperation between Italian and Canadian organizations in areas such as nuclear energy and medical isotopes, hydrogen, AI and supercomputing and quantum. Canada pledges $4.3B in support for Ukraine as Carney, Zelenskyy meet at G7
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy makes his way to meet Prime Minister Mark Carney at the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alta., on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Adrian Wyld KANANASKIS -- Prime Minister Mark Carney outlined $4.3 billion in new support for Ukraine's defence as he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Alberta on Tuesday. The Prime Minister's Office said that sum includes $2 billion for weapons like drones, ammunition and armoured vehicles -- funding that Canada will count toward its NATO defence spending target. Canada is also lending Ukraine $2.3 billion to help the embattled country rebuild its infrastructure. The Prime Minister's Office said the loan will be repaid by interest charged on Russian assets frozen in Europe. Canada also announced a new sanctions package targeting Russia's shadow fleet and energy revenues. Carney, who is serving as the G7 summit host this year, invited Zelenskyy to the meeting and has said Canada intends to make Ukraine's defence a central part of the discussions. The G7 leaders were scheduled to hold a working breakfast session Tuesday on ending Russia's war on Ukraine. As he met with Zelenskyy Tuesday morning, Carney condemned 'in the strongest terms' the latest round of Russian attacks. 'This underscores the importance of standing in total solidarity with Ukraine, with the Ukrainian people, and we had a discussion last night amongst G7 leaders ... We underscored the importance of using maximum pressure against Russia, who has refused to come to the table,' Carney said. Kyiv was bombarded overnight with 32 missiles and more than 440 drones, Zelenskyy said -- the deadliest attack on the capital this year. Twelve people were killed and more than 130 injured, Zelenskyy said, adding Russia targeted civilian infrastructure, including housing. 'It's a big tragedy for us and we need support from our allies,' he said, thanking Canada for its aid. 'We are ready for the peace negotiations, unconditional ceasefire. I think it's very important, but for this we need pressure.' Carney said Canada's latest round of sanctions targets 'a number of individuals,' as well as 40 entities in Russia and 200 vessels in the so-called shadow fleet that Russia is using to evade sanctions. The G7 continues for its second and final day without U.S. President Donald Trump, who left the talks ahead of schedule on Monday. Trump, who said he left early to deal with the escalating violence in the Middle East, is missing the sessions Carney set aside to focus on foreign policy. Speaking to reporters on Air Force 1 Monday evening as he returned to Washington, Trump was asked whether he talked to anyone at the summit about his previous comments about making Canada a U.S. state. 'I think it's a much better deal for Canada, but you know, it's up to them,' Trump responded. He said if Canada doesn't join the U.S., it will have to pay 'a lot of tariffs and things' and said Ottawa would have to pay $71 billion to be part of the 'Iron Dome' -- an apparent reference to the Golden Dome, a missile defence system Trump has proposed for the U.S. Trump said Ottawa and Washington may make a separate deal on the Golden Dome. Despite Trump's departure, the G7 agenda is busy. Carney began his day with a meeting with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte -- their first in-person discussion since the federal government announced it plans to meet the NATO spending target this fiscal year. The Liberals have outlined plans to rapidly scale up defence spending to the equivalent of two per cent of GDP, a target that Canada has agreed to for over a decade but has never actually met. Carney thanked Rutte for his leadership of the alliance, which is set to meet next week in the Netherlands. He said Canada is 'stepping up to meet our commitments and (I) look forward to defining those new responsibilities and capabilities.' Rutte said that with Canada and Portugal promising to boost defence spending, 'the whole of NATO will now be in 2025 at two per cent before the summit starts next week in The Hague.' Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to meet with Carney late Tuesday afternoon after attending various meetings, including a discussion of energy sovereignty with peers from Brazil, South Africa and Mexico. Modi's visit has prompted angry protests from Sikh separatist groups. In 2023 and 2024, former prime minister Justin Trudeau and the RCMP said there was evidence linking agents of the Indian government to the murder of Canadian Sikh separatist activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, B.C., in June 2023. Last October, RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme said the police force had evidence linking Indian government officials to other crimes in Canada, including extortion, coercion and homicide. Saint John Energy partners to build province's largest solar farm
A few years after the opening of a wind farm on the city's west side, Saint John Energy is now getting into the solar game on the other side of town. The utility have partnered with Universal Kraft Renewables and Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation) for the creation of a 10 megawatt solar farm on Old Black River Road. The first nation and energy developer will build, own and operate the solar farm, with 100 per cent of the power generated going to Saint John Energy. Once operational, the solar farm is expected to produce enough energy to power around 1,200 homes and reduce carbon emissions by over 10,000 tonnes a year. 'The solar panels will be bifacial,' says Saint John Energy President & CEO, Ryan Mitchell. 'Which means when there is snow on the ground, there will be a reflection off of the snow that will also contribute to the production of electricity.' Mitchell says the solar panels will be able to tilt and follow the sun to allow for maximum energy production. The solar farm will be known as the Menahqwesk Kisuhs Energy Hub. The name blends the Wolastoqey word for Saint John with the word for sun. The partnership between the First Nation and energy developer is 51 per cent, 49 per cent in favour of Neqotkuk. The project will cost around $14 to $15 million. Universal Kraft Renewables specializes in several renewable energy projects from wind farms to battery storage, but this marks global companies first venture in New Brunswick. It's also the first time the company has partnered with an Indigenous group for a project of this scale says project manager, Jacob Roth. 'It's much more community focused which is important to us,' says Roth on the difference partnering with First Nations communities over private developers. 'It's a different lens on how they look at the community. They're helping out with the environmental aspects, they have a lot of pride in the area that the developing in, they care about how the project integrates the community as a whole, and that really aligns with our core values as a company.' Roth says the construction of the solar farm will required around 36 people, and once operations begin it will be a six person crew required to maintain the site. Roth is also aware Saint John can be rather foggy due to the Bay of Fundy. He says when fog is present the panels won't operate at peak capacity but will still be able to capture some of the suns energy. The solar farm will be the latest renewable energy project Tobique First Nation will have their hand in. The Indigenous community has also partnered with Saint John Energy for the Burchill Wind project and recently opened wind farm in Sussex. Chief Rob Perley says the project will help generate revenue that will go towards funding band initiatives to help meet the needs for his community. 'First Nations communities are funded from federal dollars and it's never enough,' points out Chief Perley. 'Foodbank not funded, so we got to find ways to fund that. Upkeep of elders homes and housing, no funding for that. We got to find ways to provide that service and meet that need for our community.' Construction of the project is expected to begin in spring of 2026 and be operational by the following summer. The solar farm initiative is the latest part of Saint John Energy's Zero30 plan to produce net-zero emissions by 2030. For more New Brunswick news, visit our dedicated provincial page.
