India-based GCCs emerge as global hubs for complex tax operations: Deloitte
New Delhi [India], June 14 (ANI): Global companies are now using their India-based Global Capability Centres (GCCs) to run complex tax operations, covering corporate tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing, and litigation, according to a whitepaper report released by Deloitte, a multinational professional services firm.
The whitepaper said that GCCs in India have emerged as strategic hubs for tax-related functions, offering a unique blend of expertise, technology and cost efficiency.
'GCCs have become an integral part of the global tax ecosystem, providing organisations with a competitive edge in managing their tax functions,' Deloitte's white paper, titled Transforming Global Tax Functions: The GCC Advantage, added.
The Indian GCC landscape has witnessed significant growth, with many organisations establishing their tax Centres of Excellence (CoEs) in the country, according to the paper, which was prepared by Manisha Gupta, Partner, Deloitte India.
Global Capability Centres, or GCCs, also known as captive centres or in-house centres, are strategically located facilities established by multinational corporations (MNCs) to provide specialised functions and services to their parent organisations.
The report adds that about 76 per cent of participants indicated they already undertake global tax processes from India.
'As more organisations pursue centralising tax functions, many have already established a tax CoE. The focus was on key tenets and building blocks to establish and expand a successful tax CoE,' the report added.
India has emerged as a major destination for the global players.
As per the official data, India is home to over 1,700 GCCs, employing 1.9 million professionals and generating USD 64.6 billion in revenue as of 2024. Key GCC hubs are located in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Mumbai, and the National Capital Region (NCR).
The sector is projected to expand to USD 105 billion by 2030, with around 2,400 GCCs employing over 2.8 million people, solidifying India's role as a global hub for enterprise operations and innovation.
With 40 per cent of digital transformation projects in GCCs, India is now a center for high-value technology-driven solutions. GCCs emerging from different geographies, viz., Germany, the UK, Japan, and Nordic countries, is another significant development observed in recent years.
A significant shift towards diversification of operations, with evolution towards higher value services, is seen as GCCs in India transition from data processing to knowledge processing over the years. (ANI)

'The claim that the maintenance of the Boeing 787-8 passenger aircraft was done by Turkish Technic is false,' the statement said, maintaining that Turkish Technic– the maintenance, repair and overhaul center of Turkish Airlines, which also serves 3rd-party airlines at its maintenance hangar at the Istanbul Airport– was never tasked with the servicing or maintenance of Air India's ill-fated Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Turkish Technic never serviced Air India's Boeing 787-8 Turkish authorities also revealed that the maintenance agreements signed between Air India and Turkish Technic in 2024-25 were limited to the B777-type wide-body aircraft only. 'Turkish Technic has not serviced any Air India aircraft of this type till date,' the statement said, asserting that claims were aimed at 'manipulating' public opinion in India about India-Turkey relations. Won't name company that last serviced crashed AI-171 Turkish authorities also said they are aware of the company that last serviced the crashed plane, but declined to name the firm to prevent unnecessary speculation. Baba Ramdev claims Turkish Technic serviced ill-fated Air India plane Earlier, Patanjali founder and Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev had claimed that a Turkish firm was tasked with the maintenance of the ill-fated Air India flight AI-171 that crashed minutes after take off earlier this week. 'I have come to know that the maintenance and service of the aircraft was done by a Turkish agency. India will have to keep a close eye on the aviation sector. There is a possibility of conspiracy by that agency. India will have to stop the interference of foreign companies in such sensitive matters,' Ramdev had claimed. Ahmedabad plane crash An India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, operating as flight AI 171 from Ahmedabad to London, Gatwick, crashed shortly after take off on Thursday, killing 241 people on board, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members. The lone survivor, identified as Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a British national of Indian origin, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment. Veteran pilots with years of flying experience believe the accident could have happened due to the simultaneous failure of both engines of the aircraft, a rare occurrence but not something unheard of.

Household savings in India drop to 18.1% of GDP in FY24: CareEdge Ratings
ANI Representational image India's household savings continued their downward trajectory for the third straight year, slipping to 18.1 per cent of GDP in financial year 2024 (FY24), as per CareEdge Ratings. The report added that Gross domestic savings declined to 30.7 per cent of GDP in FY24 from 32.2 per cent in FY15. On the other hand, household financial liabilities surged to 6.2 per cent of GDP, nearly doubling over the past decade, reflecting growing reliance on credit amid consumption needs, the report highlights that despite the concerning savings trend, rural India offers a silver lining. Wage growth for rural male workers rose by 6.1 per cent year-on-year in February, outpacing rural inflation for the fourth consecutive month. This, along with easing food inflation and favourable agricultural prospects, is supporting rural demand recovery, the report added. Rural consumer confidence, hovering around the neutral 100 mark, reflects a cautious optimism. In contrast, urban consumer confidence remains in pessimistic territory, though expectations for the year ahead remain upbeat across both segments, the report added. In the broader economy, labour cost growth for major IT firms has slowed significantly from a peak of 26 per cent in Q3 FY23 to just 4 per cent in Q3 FY25, highlighting a broader trend of cost rationalisation in the corporate sector, as per the observations of the the inflation front, CPI eased to 3.2 per cent in April 2025, the lowest since August 2019. However, high prices of edible oils (17.4 per cent) and fruits (13.8 per cent) continue to keep overall food inflation in check. The upcoming Rabi harvest, healthy reservoir levels, and forecast of above-normal monsoon rains are expected to further support food price stability, the report added."Going ahead, RBI policy rate cuts, lower tax burden and continued easing of price pressures remain key tailwinds for the broad-based demand recovery," the report saidAs per the government data, the Indian economy grew by 6.5 per cent in real terms in the recently concluded financial year 2024-25.

IndoSpace appoints Stellar Value Chain founder Anshuman Singh as MD and CEO
Bengaluru: Everstone Group-backed IndoSpace, India's largest warehousing developer, has appointed Anshuman Singh, founder of Stellar Value Chain Solutions, as its managing director and chief executive, said two people familiar with the development. Rajesh Jaggi, who played a key role in building the IndoSpace business and managing it, will continue as vice-chairman (real estate) at the Singapore-based private equity firm. IndoSpace, founded in 2007, is a joint venture between private equity firm Everstone Group and industrial real estate company Realterm. In 2023, global logistics provider CEVA Logistics acquired Stellar Value Chain, a third-party logistics firm Singh founded in 2016. Before that, he had co-founded Future Supply Chain Solutions Ltd. 'Anshuman Singh, with his extensive experience in the logistics space, has joined IndoSpace to steer the future growth of the company, in terms of development of assets and leasing, and acquisitions in an opportunistic manner. The company is also planning value-added services for its clients as a new offering,' said the first of the two people cited earlier, both of whom requested not to be named. An IndoSpace spokesperson didn't respond to queries. IndoSpace is the largest developer and operator of Grade A industrial and logistics real estate with a pan-India network of over fifty logistics parks, spanning 60 million sq. ft across 11 cities. The warehousing and logistics sector in the country has seen sustained interest from global investors who are looking to buy good-quality warehousing assets or entire portfolios from developers and operators. 'With a mature, institutionally-backed asset portfolio, IndoSpace is looking to monetize it. It has been exploring the possibility of an infrastructure investment trust (InvIT) or an initial public offering (IPO) in the medium term,' said the second person. Last year, IndoSpace sold 2.5 million sq. ft of warehousing space to Alta Capital for around $100 million. The warehousing assets were located at Pune and Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. Market leader IndoSpace competes with Blackstone-owned Horizon Industrial Parks, Ascendas Firstspace, ESR India among others in an asset class which has witnessed growing demand for modern warehousing and industrial facilities, and a solid appetite among institutional investors for ready and good-quality industrial assets. 'IndoSpace not only had the first-mover advantage, but it set the tone for warehousing development in India, and built with global standards from the start. In recent years, the market has become competitive with an increasing number of players of global repute,' said Chandranath Dey, India head – operations, business development, industrial consulting & integrated logistics, India, JLL, a property advisory. This year, IndoSpace inked a long-term lease of over 700,000 sq. ft with RenewSys India for warehousing space in Khalapur near Mumbai. It also leased 127,000 sq. ft in Pune to Steelcase Asia Pacific Holdings.
