
ADNOC Gas makes rapid strides in its sustainability journey

SREENIVASA REDDY (ABU DHABI)ADNOC Gas has made seminal progress in its sustainability journey in 2024, listing several key achievements across the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) pillars in its latest Sustainability Report released on Wednesday.Chief Executive Officer, Fatema Mohamed Al Nuaimi, said the company strives to be among the lowest carbon gas producers by embedding ESG principles into planning, operations and targets. 'Sustainability has been central to our mission, as evident in the recent transformation of our energy mix to include more clean grid power usage in our operations,' she stated.'We continue to champion diversity and inclusion, welcoming employees from over 60 different countries. Focusing on developing local talent, last year we exceeded our Emiratisation goal. To help our people unlock their full potential and accelerate their growth, we delivered approximately 155,550 hours of training to more than 5,120 employees,' she added.She further noted, 'As we grow, we will continue to drive the UAE's economic development and diversification. In 2024, we supported the local economy with over $1.24 billion worth of investments. Our low-carbon gas supports the UAE's energy needs, creates jobs, empowers communities, and supplies electricity to homes, schools, and hospitals. We also prioritise sourcing local goods and services.'Among its environmental milestones, ADNOC Gas achieved a 2.31% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity and met approximately 50% of its power requirements through clean energy sources. The Habshan Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) project — recognised by Forbes Middle East as the most sustainable project in the region — helped cut GHG emissions across the value chain. The company also advanced the Ruwais LNG project, the first LNG export facility in the MENA region, planned to operate on clean power.The firm diverted 47% of hazardous waste from landfills and implemented Loop 20 Proof of Concept (PoC), a technology that captures CO₂ emissions by up to 30% and converts them into low-cost, high-value graphene. Methane emissions were reduced by approximately 25% compared to the previous year.On the social front, ADNOC Gas achieved a Total Recordable Injury Rate of 0.05 with zero fatalities. In addition to delivering 155,550 hours of training to over 80% of its workforce, the company engaged more than 1,500 construction site workers through HSE awareness initiatives, hired 185 new employees — a 24% year-on-year increase—and welcomed 141 university students into its internship programme.Dr Aasah Ali Hashem, Vice President of Sustainability and ESG, reaffirmed the company's commitment to resilience and excellence. 'Committed to zero operational disruptions, we leveraged cutting-edge technologies and artificial intelligence, achieving ISO 42001 AI certification, to work smarter and safer,' she said. 'Together with our stakeholders, we are shaping a future where sustainable energy solutions benefit the generations of tomorrow.'In terms of governance, ADNOC Gas established a new Sustainability Policy and reported zero cases of discrimination. It also received the ISO 42001:2023 certification for its Artificial Intelligence Management System, underscoring its proactive approach to innovation and sustainability.Financially, the company posted a 7% year-on-year increase in adjusted revenues to $24.43 billion, while adjusted net income rose by 13% to $5 billion. It declared a dividend of $3.412 billion for the full year. Operationally, ADNOC Gas celebrated the successful delivery of 9,000 loads of LPG and paraffinic naphtha, achieved 59% In-Country Value (ICV) to bolster local development, and signed a 10-year LNG supply agreement with GAIL India Limited for up to 0.52 million metric tonnes per annum. The company was ranked 12th in the Forbes Middle East Top 100 companies in the MENA region.
ADNOC Gas's ESG strategy supports the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 initiative and ADNOC Group's 2045 target. Its actions are aligned with 11 of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

SREENIVASA REDDY (ABU DHABI)UAE stock markets continued their bullish run in July, with both the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) and the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) registering gains for the fourth consecutive month, according to the latest monthly report by Kamco report highlighted broad-based investor optimism, sectoral strength, and robust trading activity as key drivers of performance in both Abu Dhabi, the FTSE ADX General Index advanced 4.1% in July to close at 10,370.66 points, building on a 2.8% rise in June. The index has now gained 10.1% since the beginning of the year.'Sectoral trends on the exchange favoured gainers, with seven out of ten sector indices recording gains, while the remaining three posted declines,' the Kamco Invest report Health Care sector led the rally with an 11% gain, buoyed by strong performances across all its constituents, particularly PureHealth, which saw its share price climb 11.9%.The Financial and Real Estate sectors also posted solid gains of 4.4% and 7%, the Real Estate sector, all five constituent companies ended the month higher, with Al Khaleej Investment Co. surging by 20.2%.Among individual stocks, Bank of Sharjah was the standout performer, with its share price soaring 75.5% in July following a 57% year-on-year increase in first-half profits. The bank credited the improvement to enhanced business activity and operational notable gainers included Commercial Bank International and ADC Acquisition Corporation, which posted monthly increases of 47.6% and 37.5%, the downside, Methaq Takaful Insurance Co. plunged 67.9%, making it the worst performer of the month on ADX, followed by Insurance House and Sharjah Insurance Co., which fell 10.2% and 9.7%, activity on the ADX strengthened considerably. According to Bloomberg's monthly stock performance data, Ekttitab Holding Company led the list of top gainers in July, posting a notable 43.2% increase in its share price. It was followed by United Foods Co and Commercial Bank of Dubai, which recorded gains of 21.5% and 20.1%, the monthly decliners' side, International Financial Advisors registered the steepest drop, with a 9.2% decline, followed by National General Insurance and Dubai Refreshments Company, which reported decreases of 8.1% and 7.6%, respectively, during the month. Regionally, the MSCI GCC Index rose 2.2% in July, extending its rally for a second consecutive month, supported by earnings optimism and widespread market gains. Dubai was the best-performing market in the GCC, followed by Oman, which rose 6.2%, and Qatar with a 4.8% increase. Abu Dhabi attracted $596 million in greenfield FDI in H1 2025: Emirates NBD Report

SREENIVASA REDDY (ABU DHABI)Abu Dhabi attracted 42 greenfield Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects worth $595.8 million in the first half of 2025, while the UAE as a whole registered 613 greenfield projects drawing capital inflows of $5.42 billion, according to a research report released by Emirates capital's FDI performance complements broader national trends, with Dubai continuing to lead the pack, attracting 526 projects valued at $3.03 billion. Sharjah came in second with 24 projects worth $1.47 billion—remarkable for the high average project size—followed by Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), which drew six projects totalling $188.6 million.A significant component of the UAE's FDI momentum is the establishment of 34 new regional headquarters, representing a combined investment of $386.1 report said this 'underscores the UAE's growing importance as a regional business hub', as more multinational corporations view the UAE as a launchpad for operations across the Middle East and beyond.'In H1 2025, the convergence of technology and sustainability emerged as a key investment theme,' Emirates NBD noted in its communications sector—particularly data centres and AI infrastructure—garnered $359.5 million across 16 projects. Notable developments include Microsoft's partnership with Core42, a G42 subsidiary, to build sovereign cloud and AI infrastructure aligned with Abu Dhabi's 2025–2027 strategy to become the world's first AI-native May, G42 announced Stargate UAE, a 5GW AI data centre campus involving global technology heavyweights such as OpenAI, Nvidia, Cisco, SoftBank, and Oracle. The first phase, comprising 200MW, is scheduled for delivery by zones accounted for $1.62 billion—or nearly 30%—of total FDI inflows in H1 2025, despite hosting just 17.5% of total projects. However, in terms of capital investment value, Kuwait led with $955.7 million from just three projects—almost entirely driven by the $953 million investment by Kuwait Real Estate Company in Sharjah project. The US ranked second with $889.5 million, while India came third with $677.9 million. China contributed $413.2 million across 16 projects, and Italy invested $387.6 million through 18 projects. MoHRE organises 50 open career days with over 160 companies participating in first half of 2025
1 Aug 2025 21:18 DUBAI (ALETIHAD) The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) organised 50 open career days focusing on recruiting UAE citizens to the private sector during the first half of 160 private companies participated in the events, which saw a widespread turnout from Emirati citizens seeking employment. Job interviews were conducted on-site with qualified Emirati candidates, led by officials from the participating showcased their available job opportunities on the Nafis platform during the open career days, which were held in collaboration with local Human Resources Departments and Neighbourhood Councils across various emirates of the UAE, in addition to the Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University, University of Dubai, and Fatima College of Health Abdulla Al Ali, Assistant Undersecretary of National Talents at MoHRE, reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to continue organising open career days, which enjoy a reputation for being highly credible and reliable among UAE citizens, employers, and companies. "This confidence stems from the fact that these events are held under direct supervision from MoHRE, which examines the nature of the job opportunities offered and the salaries, in addition to following up on employment processes after interviews to ensure participating companies are serious with their intent to hire Emiratis.
