Fortnite servers down ahead of version 35.10 game update: Here's what you should know
Fortnite developer Epic Games has disabled matchmaking and has taken the game offline for scheduled maintenance related to update 35.10. The update is rolling out across all platforms including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Android on May 16. Epic Games said the update includes new Star Wars content tied to the ongoing Galactic Battle event. The company shared a post on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) to announce the downtime. 'Insert Wookiee growl. Downtime for v35.10 begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand,' the post reads.

As part of the process, matchmaking was disabled at 8:30am BST in the UK. Fortnite servers went completely offline at 9am BST.

The company has not provided a specific time for when the maintenance will end, but previous updates usually take around two to three hours. This means Fortnite could be back online by around 11am BST, depending on how long the update takes to complete.
In another post, the company shared an update stating Fortnite version 35.10 game will be released on May 16.

Starting May 16 at 12 PM ET, creators can now publish Fortnite islands using assets from The Walking Dead Universe (TWDU). These islands can be submitted through the Creator Portal and may be featured prominently in the game's Discover section. Skybound, the rights holder for The Walking Dead, will also highlight their favorite islands. Players can expect special in-game quests that encourage them to explore TWDU-themed content.
The update also introduces a new Gunfight template designed to help creators build better first-person shooter (FPS) games in Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). The 2v2 Gunfight template shows how to manage teams, assign weapons, and build varied play areas within a single map. A playable version of this template is available with the island code 5043-2939-1074.
Several new prefabs and galleries have been added as well, including items from the Grand Glacier Hotel, Snowy Mountain, and Spooky Holiday themes. Some assets from a licensed property were mistakenly included in a previous version's Japanese Forest Nature Gallery; these have now been removed.
Creators can now also link their Twitch accounts to their Creator Profiles, joining other supported platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
The update includes a number of bug fixes and improvements. Matchmaking portals, accolades, and other devices have been adjusted for better performance. Walker enemies from The Walking Dead Universe have been improved for smoother animations and better interaction with player-built structures.
