Goa tops ability to report cybercrime, 50% females can report online frauds

Goa has topped all other Indian states in terms of its residents' ability to report cybercrime, with an average of 44.6% of Goans knowing how to report cyber fraud directly to the police or through an online portal.
A study by the Union ministry of statistics and implementation has also revealed that females surpass males in digital literacy. At least 50.1% females and 39.1% males above the age of 15 years can report online fraud directly to the police or via a portal.
According to the study, 55% of Goans are aware of how to send and receive emails, and 57.9% know how to bank online.
'Goa has proactively addressed the challenge of cybercrime through sustained awareness efforts and citizen engagement, making it a model for other states.
As a result of these efforts, it was ranked the number one state in the country in terms of the ability of citizens to report cybercrime, reflecting increased public awareness and trust in the system,' SP (cybercrime), Rahul Gupta, said.
The nationwide survey defines 'ability to report cybercrime' as awareness of reporting platforms (cybercrime.gov.in), knowledge of complaint-filing mechanisms (online forms, helpline, social media platforms), and understanding of reportable offences (phishing, fraud, identity theft, etc.).

To date, more than one lakh people were sensitised through awareness sessions conducted by the cybercrime police station and the staff of local police stations.

Child bride at 11: Father stumbles upon secret wedding, mother among 9 booked in Ludhiana
Ludhiana: Tibba police booked an Amritsar-based woman and eight of her associates from Ludhiana in connection with a case of child marriage. As per the reports, the woman got her 11-year-old minor daughter married to a relative in Ludhiana, violating the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act. When her husband, Jagjeet Singh, came to know of the incident, he filed a complaint with the Amritsar police, who then forwarded the matter to their counterparts in Ludhiana for further action. Based on his complaint, the Ludhiana police registered an FIR under Sections 9 and 10 of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act. Kidnapped in Iran on way to Australia, three Punjab men rescued: Embassy
Three men from Punjab, who had left for Australia on the promise of jobs by travel agents but found themselves in Iran and were later 'kidnapped' there, have been rescued, the Embassy of India in Iran Wednesday said. 'The three kidnapped Indian citizens have been safely rescued & are now under the care of the Embassy of India, which is facilitating their early repatriation. We sincerely thank the Government of Iran for their swift and effective efforts in securing their release. The respective families received phone calls from the three men Tuesday evening, soon after the Iranian embassy in New Delhi, citing local media in Iran, said that the 'missing Indian citizens have been freed by Tehran police'. Husanpreet's cousin Manpreet Singh told the Indian Express that he received a call from an Iranian number at around 6 pm Tuesday. 'It was Husanpreet. He only said, 'We are safe now. Indian authorities have rescued us and we are now being taken to the embassy'. Before I could ask anything, the line went dead. Now, at least we know that he is alive,' said Manpreet.
