Crystal Palace appeal against Europa League demotion - World
The London club, who won last season's FA Cup, fell foul of UEFA's rules governing multi-club ownership.
European football's governing body determined that as of March 1, American businessman John Textor had control or influence in Palace and French club Lyon.
It means under UEFA rules they are unable to compete in the same European competition and Lyon held on to the Europa League spot by virtue of their higher league position.
Forest, who finished seventh in the Premier League, are expected to replace Palace in the second-tier Europa League should the punishment stand.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport issued a statement on Tuesday confirming it had received an appeal by Palace and would issue a decision by August 11 at the latest.
The CAS confirmed Palace were seeking to take either Forest's or Lyon's place in the Europa League.
Textor has agreed to sell his stake in Palace to New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, but the move came too late to satisfy UEFA.

Tunisia's Ahmed Jaouadi added the 1,500m freestyle world title to his 800m crown on Sunday for a Singapore double, with two-time Olympic champion Bobby Finke only third. It was a good one because all of the boys swum a good race and everyone tried to win it. "Through my body it was a lot of pain, it hurts. But through my mind was I want this medal, I want to win it. It's as simple as that." Jaouadi's 800m free title earlier in the week was his first major crown. Finke is the two-time reigning Olympic champion in the 1,500m and world record holder following his 14:30.67 in Paris a year ago. Jaouadi was sixth in the French capital. Ademola Lookman requests transfer from Atalanta citing broken promises and poor treatment - Africa
Lookman made the announcement with a statement posted on Instagram. The 27-year-old said the request was made 'after many months of broken promises and what I feel has been poor treatment towards me as both a human being and as a professional footballer. 'Sadly I feel I have no choice but to speak out for what I believe is right and I feel that enough is enough,' he said. He said in the statement that it had already been decided that it was the 'right time" for him "to move on and experience a new adventure.' He said he and the club ownership had been 'in agreement' that now was the right time for a transfer, and that the club agreed to let him leave if a fair offer was made. He said an offer did arrive but now the club was not sticking to its end of the agreement. 'Despite now receiving an offer in alignment to what I believe had been discussed, sadly the club are blocking the opportunity for reasons I do not understand,' he said. Swimming: Australia's beaming Harris foils Walsh treble bid at swimming worlds - Omni sports
Australia's Meg Harris denied Gretchen Walsh a sprint treble at swimming's world championships in Singapore on Sunday, winning the 50m freestyle for her first individual world title. Harris, the Paris Olympics silver medallist, powered home in 24.02sec to beat Chinese pair Wu Qingfeng (24.26) and Cheng Yujie (24.28). The American Walsh, who won gold in the 50m and 100m butterfly in Singapore, finished fourth in 24.40. Australia also won the men's 50m freestyle, with Cam McEvoy taking gold on Saturday. Harris said becoming an individual world champion was "the dream I have been dreaming of the whole time". "This is why I swim," said the 23-year-old, who could not stop smiling as the magnitude of her achievement set in. "I still can't put it into words, it'll take a while to process." World record holder Sarah Sjoestroem of Sweden, the reigning Olympic champion and a four-time world title-holder in the event, did not compete in Singapore. "I love sprinting, I love racing. Could not be more happy," added Harris. The Australian has now won six world golds in her career. The previous five were in relay events.
