Messi appeared frustrated after the final whistle and confronted ref Joe Dickerson.
He pointed at the official and exchanged words with Dickerson, who reportedly said to him: 'Do you want me to send you off? Walk away!'
Messi did walk away but he was still unhappy so he continued gesticulating towards the referee and pointed at him again.
San Jose coach Bruce Arena tried to beckon the superstar away, and he later confirmed Messi was not happy.

Arena said: 'Yes, yes, he was. As you know, there's a universal language when you're talking about referees.
'He was obviously not happy. And I really wanted to make sure he wasn't going to get a red card, and that's why I just tried to move him out of the way.
'Because for him to get a red card at the end of the game would have been ridiculous.
'So I just wanted to make sure we get him out of there and he's ready to play the next game for Miami.'

Losing Messi to suspension would be been a big blow for Miami, who are fifth in the Eastern Conference, six points off top spot.
Despite their struggles, Messi has continued to shine with ten goals and three assists in 15 games.

Miami Dolphins star Terron Armstead reveals terrifying reason he was forced to retire at just 33

Terron Armstead's recent retirement was a sadly straightforward decision for the former All-Pro. 'I literally couldn't walk,' Armstead told Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson on the Nightcap podcast. Still just 33, Armstead played 72 percent of the snaps at left tackle for the Miami Dolphins last season before announcing his sudden retirement in April. He had been among the best left tackles in football with the Dolphins and, prior to that, the New Orleans Saints. But a 12-year career, while short for nearly any other line of work, is relatively long when it comes to the NFL. As a result, Armstead barely practiced in 2024 and was instead prescribed pain killers with the aim of getting him ready to play each and every week. Now entering his mid-30s, Armstead explained he was no longer willing to put his body through that routine. 'I've been dealing with a knee [issue] since my third year in the league,' Armstead said. 'I didn't see a practice field at all, and not because I didn't want to or the Dolphins just wanted me to rest. I literally couldn't walk. 'After a game on Sunday, I wouldn't be able to walk on my own, under my own power, until Wednesday, Thursday. So I was only able to play under the pain meds. I couldn't put any pressure on my knee, so it was like, I can't keep doing that to myself.' Dolphins are in the midst of a difficult offseason as 23-year-old Patrick Paul is being counted upon to replace the veteran Armstead at left tackle. Furthermore, wide receiver Tyreek Hill ended the regular season by removing himself from the season finale against the New York Jets, but now claims he wants to stay in Miami. 'I've got to prove myself,' Hill told reporters last month at organized team activities. 'This OTAs, training camp, I got to prove myself. I've got to show up different. The mindset´s got to be different.' Then there is cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who is sitting out of this week's mandatory minicamp in order to force a trade out of Miami. The 30-year-old Ramsey signed a three-year extension in September. He is guaranteed $25.1 million in 2025, $4 million of which the Dolphins have already paid him as part of a signing bonus. He earned his seventh Pro Bowl nod last season.

Report: Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey will not attend minicamp

June 8 - Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey does not plan to attend the team's mandatory minicamp this week while the club continues to seek a trade, NFL Network reported on Sunday. Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said prior to the 2025 NFL Draft that Ramsey didn't request a trade, but they came to the joint realization that a potential move makes sense following several conversations about his contract. Ramsey, 30, signed a three-year contract extension in September 2024 and then started all 17 games for Miami. Grier didn't select a cornerback until the 150th pick in April's draft -- Florida's Jason Marshall Jr. Ramsey is guaranteed $25.1 million in 2025, but a new team would owe him $21.1 million since the Dolphins already have paid his $4 million roster bonus. Ramsey came to Miami in March 2023 in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams for a third-round pick and tight end Hunter Long. Ramsey missed the first seven games that season with a knee injury, but he still made the Pro Bowl for the seventh time. --Field Level Media

BREAKING NEWS NFL star Jalen Ramsey makes shock move amid Miami Dolphins trade standoff

Jalen Ramsey may still officially be a member of the Miami Dolphins but he won't be joining the team this week. The seven-time Pro Bowl cornerback was previously linked with a trade out of Miami before the NFL Draft but with the Dolphins' mandatory minicamp set to begin this week, Ramsey and the franchise are still locked in a standoff. As a result, the defensive back is sitting out of the beginning of minicamp, steering clear of the team's offseason program, according to Ian Rapoport. More to follow.
