Iranian President: We're open to nuclear inspection
Meeting in Tehran with Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu, Pezeshkian said Iran's nuclear program is transparent and has been repeatedly verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). 'We are open to inspections,' he stated. 'But no nation has the right to impose its will on Iran or undermine its sovereign decision-making.'
His remarks come amid ongoing indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States, mediated by Oman. Negotiations resumed in April but have seen limited progress.
Nurtleu, delivering a letter from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, voiced support for Iran's stance on peaceful nuclear development and expressed interest in advancing bilateral ties.
During the visit, both countries signed a memorandum of understanding on diplomatic archive cooperation and discussed regional developments with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Iran maintains that its nuclear activities comply with international law and denies pursuing nuclear weapons. However, the IAEA has raised concerns over Iran's enriched uranium stockpile and lack of transparency, citing unresolved safeguards issues.
The United States withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal in 2018 and reimposed sanctions on Tehran, which Iranian officials describe as unjustified, and with direct negotiations stalled, Tehran insists that inspections must be tied to 'mutual respect' and non-interference in its internal affairs.

In a separate case, Iraq's Interior Ministry seized around 1.1 tons of Captagon pills smuggled from Syria. Iraqi officials confirmed that the operation was carried out with support from Saudi Arabia's General Directorate of Narcotics Control, which provided intelligence indicating the route through Syria and Turkiye.

Iraq: Major ISIS figure arrested
Shafaq News – Nineveh Abu Salem al-Iraqi, a senior ISIS figure, was arrested in Nineveh province during an intelligence-led operation by Iraq's National Security Service, security sources told Shafaq News on Wednesday. The arrest took place in the Qatanbiyah area of Sinjar, 'after al-Iraqi was lured back into the country through a fabricated job offer arranged by the agency using one of his former acquaintances,' the sources said, adding that he had been in hiding for over a decade, using forged identities to evade capture. Preliminary investigations revealed his direct involvement in the killing of an Iraqi soldier during ISIS's large-scale offensive across the country in 2014. Meanwhile, the US-led International Coalition praised the operation in a statement, calling it a new success in intelligence and security coordination between Iraqi forces and international partners, 'as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate remaining ISIS elements.'

Israeli airstrikes pound southern Lebanon
Shafaq News – Beirut Israeli warplanes launched a wave of airstrikes across southern Lebanon on Wednesday, injuring several civilians, according to Lebanese media. The National News Agency reported that the strikes targeted a vehicle and equipment depot in Deir Seryan, in the Marjayoun district, while others hit the town of Zawtar in neighboring Nabatieh. Additional raids reportedly struck the outskirts of Ansar, also in Nabatieh, as well as areas in Mahmoudiyah, the Barbij outskirts of Jbaa, and the vicinity of Tuffahata. Although the agreement stipulates a full Israeli withdrawal, five military outposts reportedly remain in the south.
