Space research plane to be stationed in Oklahoma
'This is a game changer,' Executive Director of the Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority Craig J. Smith said.

Beautiful views from the final frontier, and the plane bringing the image to your screen is soon to be stationed in Oklahoma.
'This partnership of Dawn Aerospace will establish Oklahoma as leading the future in space access in the United States,' Smith said.
It's 'The Aurora' from Dawn Aerospace, a company based in New Zealand. They're partnering with the Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority to deliver it to Burns Flat, where the state air and space port is. Only 10 states across the country have ports like that.
'We were the very first spaceport located inland in a landlocked state. So ours is designed for horizontal takeoffs and landings,' Smith said.
It's rocket-powered, remote-piloted, and rapidly reusable. In only 4 hours, it's ready to fly again, which sets it up to be the first aircraft to reach something called the Karman line, the boundary of Earth's atmosphere and space, 62 miles high, twice in a day.
'Literally no vehicle that's ever been designed that can do this,' founder and CEO of Dawn Aerospace Stefan Powell said.

It's main use is for microgravity research. They do that for things that are hard to study on earth due to gravity's influence. Applied to several fields, it can lead to big discoveries, whether that be drugs for cancer research or even technology like chips in your phone.
'That has just huge implications for how fast we can use space to improve our lives,' Powell said. 'You know, it makes science go faster.'
A Dawn Aerospace team will be hired in Oklahoma and trained in New Zealand to operate the plane back in the Sooner State. They plan to provide parts and maintenance to keep it going. The plane is expected to be delivered in 2027, with a flight taking place that same year.

Canadian dollar steadies as BoC minutes reveal split on rate outlook
By Fergal Smith TORONTO (Reuters) -The Canadian dollar was barely changed against its U.S. counterpart on Wednesday, as oil prices fell and minutes from the Bank of Canada's latest policy decision showed that policymakers were split on the need for additional interest rate cuts. The loonie was trading nearly unchanged at 1.3770 per U.S. dollar, or 72.62 U.S. cents, after moving in a range of 1.3752 to 1.3782. Deliberations of the Bank of Canada's Governing Council in July, when the benchmark rate was left unchanged at 2.75%, showed that the central bank was divided on how much monetary policy could aid growth under current economic conditions that are shaped by U.S. tariffs. "There's a split in the Governing Council, with some members believing that rates may not need to fall further," Benjamin Reitzes, Canadian rates & macro strategist at BMO Capital Markets, said in a note. "Other members highlighted that persistent slack and ongoing labour market softness could warrant further easing." Investors see a 33% chance that the BoC eases at the next policy decision on September 17. That's up from 17% at the start of the month, after expectations rose that the Federal Reserve would resume its easing campaign and the release of weaker-than-expected domestic jobs data. The price of oil settled 0.8% lower at $62.65 a barrel after U.S. crude supply unexpectedly rose. Oil is one of Canada's major exports. In a potential blow to Canada's economy, Air Canada is cancelling flights from Thursday. The country's largest carrier is winding down service ahead of a looming Saturday strike by its more than 10,000 flight attendants. Canadian bond yields moved lower across the curve, tracking moves in U.S. Treasuries. The 10-year was down 4.7 basis points at 3.388%. Alan Tudyk Says He Got Dropped From ‘I, Robot' Publicity After Testing Higher Than Will Smith With Test Screening Audiences: ‘I Was Very Upset'
Alan Tudyk recently appeared on the 'Toon'd In with Jim Cummings' podcast and claimed he was dropped from the marketing of 2004's 'I, Robot' after it was discovered in test screenings that he was actually testing higher with audiences than leading man Will Smith. Tudyk appeared in the film as the robot Sonny via motion capture and voice acting. Axing him from the movie's publicity meant there were (and still are) people who have no idea he starred in the movie, the actor said. 'A lot of people did not know I did Sonny the Robot in 'I, Robot,' and there is a reason,' Tudyk said. 'They were doing test audiences for the movie and they score the characters in this kind of test screening. I got word back: 'Alan, you are testing higher than Will Smith.' And then I was gone. I was done. There was no publicity and my name was not mentioned.' More from Variety 'Slow Horses' Creator Will Smith Leaving Show After Season 5 'Resident Alien' Stars on Their Show's Cancellation, TV Industry 'Disarray' and a 'Plausible' Movie Continuation: 'You Guys Deserve More' 'Resident Alien' Canceled at USA Network Ahead of Season 4 Finale 'I was so shocked,' he continued. 'I was like, 'Wait, nobody is going to know I'm in it!' I put a lot into [that performance]. I had to move like a robot. At the time I was very upset.' Variety has reached out to Smith's representative for comment. 'I, Robot,' directed by Alex Proyas, stars Smith as a Chicago police detective in 2035 investigating the alleged suicide of the founder of a robotics company. The corporation's highly-intelligent robots are utilized for public service jobs, but Smith's detective is convinced one of these robots, Tudyk's Sonny, murdered the founder. The supporting cast includes Bridget Moynahan, Bruce Greenwood, James Cromwell and Chi McBride. Outside of Jar Jar Binks in the 'Star Wars' prequels and Gollum in 'The Lord of the Rings' movies, motion capture technology and performances were still relatively new in Hollywood when Tudyk played Sonny in 'I, Robot.' He would go on to use the technology again years later when he played the droid K-2SO in the 'Star Wars' movie 'Rogue One,' a role he reprised in the Disney+ prequel series 'Andor.'
