JUSTIN THOMAS attempted his best Harry Potter impression as he tried to cast a spell on his golf ball.
The American, 32, was in a blockbuster group with Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood for the first two days of The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush.

And he had a brilliant moment early in his round on Friday.
Thomas had a look at a birdie putt on the par 3 third hole to get in the red for his tournament.
And he made a superb effort at the 29ft right-to-left putt.
The ball curved around beautifully and looked destined to disappear into the bottom of the hole.

However, it agonisingly came to a rest right on the edge of the cup.
But despite literally overhanging the hole, the ball stopped and refused to go in for the birdie.
So Thomas waited patiently to see if the ball would eventually find one more rotation and just nudge itself in.
The commentator joked he should blow on it to secure the birdie.

McIlroy took a close look while even Fleetwood reckoned it to drop.
But as Thomas got desperate, he jokingly turned to supernatural powers to force the issue and hilariously forcefully pointed at the ball and demanded it to "GO" in.

It was not to be, though.
So after waiting long enough to wander over to the ball, Thomas did not want to risk a stroke penalty for taking too long over his shot.
And in the end he had to concede it was not going in.
So the two-time PGA Championship winner relented and knocked in the very easiest par putt of his career from less than an inch away.
Golf fans took to social media loving his antics on the green.
The Open account wrote: "Justin Thomas trying to summon the wind on 3."
A third added: "Justin Thomas should've thrown his arm at the ball with more gusto on hole 3 it might've fallen in."
And a final user cheekily commented when it didn't work: "So basically he's Ron in the Chamber of Secrets?"

Pubs WILL stay open late tomorrow as Brits cheer on Lionesses to victory in Euros semi-final

Pubs can stay open for events of 'exceptional national significance' BEER WE GO! Premises that would usually close at 11pm have now been granted permission to stay open until 1am. In anticipation of an exciting victory for the Lionesses pubs and bars all over the country will be serving pints for an extra three hours. Punters in their thousand are expected to turn up to their local pub to cheer on the girls tomorrow night. The news comes after the government announced the measure earlier this year. It was stated that if either England or Wales made it into the semi-finals pubs up and down the country would be allowed to remain open late. Policing minister Dame Diana Johnson said at the time that venues "stand to benefit" from the later closing time. Tory MP Andrew Snowden went on to joke that his father might "disown" him, had his party not backed the proposal. Pub licensing hours can be relaxed for events of "exceptional national significance" with both the semi-final and final of the Euros included under this umbrella term. England earned their spot in the semi-finals after beating Sweden 3-2 on penalties. Fourteen spot-kicks were taken during the tense showdown between England and Sweden. Lionesses celebrate after bonkers Euro 2025 penalty shootout win over Sweden Only five of these were scored, six saved and three missed for a conversion rate of just 35.7 per cent. The nail-biting fixture saw the England women's team earn their chance to take on Italy in tomorrow's semi-final fixture. The Lionesses have gone unbeaten against Italy in their last five games, the most recent of which was a 5-1 battering in February last year. The second semi-final match will see Germany take on Spain at 8pm UK time on Wednesday, July 23. The Lionesses won the Euros in 2022, beating rivals Germany 2-1, and hope to do the same this year. Their 2022 victory was hailed as "inspiring" with the team bringing football home in front of a sold out Wembley Stadium. If the squad manage to progress to the final on Sunday, July 27, at 5pm UK time, the same extended hours are expected to apply to boozers across the country. 5 The side will face Italy tomorrow evening Credit: Getty 5 The England side are a strong contender to win against favourite's Spain Credit: Getty The Lionesses will kick off against Italy at 8pm UK time at the Stade de Geneve, Switzerland. Spain, the defending world champions, are favourites to take the trophy on Sunday but England is seen as a strong contender. The Lionesses said that until now, they have chosen to take the knee before matches. This wont be the case tomorrow night after star defender Jess Carter said she has been the victim of vile racist abuse online during the tournament. The Lionesses defender, who has 49 caps for England, announced that she will be "taking a step back from social media" as a result. The side posted a message of support for Jess yesterday, saying: "We stand with Jess, and all #Lionesses players past and present who have suffered racism."

Inside Elon Musk's Tesla diner of the future staffed by ROBOTS with drive-in movie screens & burgers in Cybertruck boxes

ELON Musk's Tesla is opening a one-of-a-kind high tech diner where customers can order food from their car touchscreens and will be served by robots. Musk took to X earlier last week to praise the venue, saying: "I just had dinner at the retro-futuristic @Tesla diner and Supercharger. "Team did great work making it one of the coolest spots in LA!" The Tesla boss had previously hinted at building the diner back in 2018. While it still bears many of the hallmarks of a classic American diner, the Tesla venue has a typically futuristic theme. A humanoid robot called Optimus can be found inside, who is programmed to serve popcorn to guests. The robot was designed by Tesla. Visitors don't even need to get out of their cars to place an order, which can be done through their vehicle touchscreen. Their food will be served in Tesla Cybertruck-shaped boxes. Typical diner refreshments such as burgers, hot dogs, wings and milkshakes are all sold at the venue. The audio for the movies will be directly streamed into visitors' cars. Tesla fans on Musk's X shared their reactions to the new venue. One user called The Tesla Duck said: "Tesla should open a lot more of these diners, I am not local to the one that opens tomorrow but the food looks pretty good and I think it's an awesome attraction. "I'd imagine they could be pretty profitable. What other car comes with restaurant access?" Another commenter said: "Tesla hosted LA's First Responders at their Tesla Diner in LA for their soft launch today, and man does this place looks amazing! "They gave out official Tesla Diner merch, including Optimus Diner figures. "They had their entire fleet on display including Cybercab, and an Optimus robot that was serving popcorn." It's not the only time the controversial billionaire's companies have made headlines in recent weeks. Musk's AI chatbot Grok went rogue earlier this month and started spouting pro-Hitler and antisemitic comments on X. The material surfaced on the platform after an update telling it to be more "politically incorrect". The chatbot even appeared to dub itself: "MechaHitler". A spokesperson for xAI, the company behind Grok, said: "We are aware of recent posts made by Grok and are actively working to remove the inappropriate posts. "Since being made aware of the content, xAI has taken action to ban hate speech before Grok posts on X." 5 Tesla fans on Musk's X shared their reactions to the new venue Credit: AFP

The Open: How long Scottie Scheffler can keep Claret Jug after being caught off guard

Scottie Scheffler won The Open at Royal Portrush to claim the fourth major title of his career, and aspects of the Claret Jug took him by surprise Scottie Scheffler has etched his name into golfing history by claiming the coveted Claret Jug at The Open. The American won the historic major for the first time at Royal Portrush on Sunday. ‌ Scheffler, who finished T7 at last year's tournament, soared to victory at Portrush with a three-under-par round on Sunday. The 29-year-old finished on 17-under at The Open, four shots ahead of runner-up Harris English. ‌ Scheffler, who is already a two-time Masters winner and clinched the PGA Championship in May, is no stranger to picking up trophies. However, the Claret Jug seemed to fascinate Scheffler shortly after his victory. ‌ In a video by The R&A, the champion golfer remarked on the trophy's unexpected weight. He turned to a person carrying the Claret Jug and said: "It's light, isn't it?" The footage tracked Scheffler's journey after his Open triumph, from heartfelt celebrations to expressing gratitude to staff and engaging with the press. Upon closer examination of his newly acquired trophy, Scheffler spotted an intriguing detail. Having inspected the trophy's past engravings, Scheffler shared: "The first thing I noticed was this, '2020: No championship owing to global pandemic.'" The Open has awarded Scheffler a replica of the iconic Claret Jug, which he must return to The R&A next year. The tradition of players keeping the same replica trophy for 12 months began in 1928. For the coming year, Scheffler has the privilege of showcasing the trophy and taking it to events, but the new Open champion must hand back the silverware before next year's tournament. ‌ The original Claret Jug is on permanent display at The R&A. Alongside the Claret Jug, Open champions are also presented with a gold champion's medal, which Scheffler will retain. The Claret Jug has been awarded since 1873. It was commissioned in the previous year, and although Thomas Morris' name was the first to be engraved on it, Tom Kidd was the inaugural champion to lift the trophy when he triumphed 152 years ago. Scheffler's recent string of successes has led some to compare him with Tiger Woods, who has won The Open on three occasions. Yet, Scheffler dismissed such comparisons as premature during his post-championship press conference. "I still think they're a bit silly," Scheffler admitted. "Tiger won, what, 15 majors? This is my fourth. I just got one-fourth of the way there. I think Tiger stands alone in the game of golf. "He was inspirational for me growing up. He was a very, very talented guy, and he was a special person to be able to be as good as he was at the game of golf. I don't focus on that kind of stuff."
