JUSTIN THOMAS attempted his best Harry Potter impression as he tried to cast a spell on his golf ball.
The American, 32, was in a blockbuster group with Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood for the first two days of The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush.

And he had a brilliant moment early in his round on Friday.
Thomas had a look at a birdie putt on the par 3 third hole to get in the red for his tournament.
And he made a superb effort at the 29ft right-to-left putt.
The ball curved around beautifully and looked destined to disappear into the bottom of the hole.

However, it agonisingly came to a rest right on the edge of the cup.
But despite literally overhanging the hole, the ball stopped and refused to go in for the birdie.
So Thomas waited patiently to see if the ball would eventually find one more rotation and just nudge itself in.
The commentator joked he should blow on it to secure the birdie.

McIlroy took a close look while even Fleetwood reckoned it to drop.
But as Thomas got desperate, he jokingly turned to supernatural powers to force the issue and hilariously forcefully pointed at the ball and demanded it to "GO" in.

It was not to be, though.
So after waiting long enough to wander over to the ball, Thomas did not want to risk a stroke penalty for taking too long over his shot.
And in the end he had to concede it was not going in.
So the two-time PGA Championship winner relented and knocked in the very easiest par putt of his career from less than an inch away.
Golf fans took to social media loving his antics on the green.
The Open account wrote: "Justin Thomas trying to summon the wind on 3."
A third added: "Justin Thomas should've thrown his arm at the ball with more gusto on hole 3 it might've fallen in."
And a final user cheekily commented when it didn't work: "So basically he's Ron in the Chamber of Secrets?"

Musk took to X earlier last week to praise the venue, saying: "I just had dinner at the retro-futuristic @Tesla diner and Supercharger. "Team did great work making it one of the coolest spots in LA!" The Tesla boss had previously hinted at building the diner back in 2018. While it still bears many of the hallmarks of a classic American diner, the Tesla venue has a typically futuristic theme. A humanoid robot called Optimus can be found inside, who is programmed to serve popcorn to guests. The robot was designed by Tesla. The Open: How long Scottie Scheffler can keep Claret Jug after being caught off guard
Scottie Scheffler won The Open at Royal Portrush to claim the fourth major title of his career, and aspects of the Claret Jug took him by surprise Scottie Scheffler has etched his name into golfing history by claiming the coveted Claret Jug at The Open. The American won the historic major for the first time at Royal Portrush on Sunday. Scheffler, who finished T7 at last year's tournament, soared to victory at Portrush with a three-under-par round on Sunday. The 29-year-old finished on 17-under at The Open, four shots ahead of runner-up Harris English. Scheffler, who is already a two-time Masters winner and clinched the PGA Championship in May, is no stranger to picking up trophies. However, the Claret Jug seemed to fascinate Scheffler shortly after his victory. In a video by The R&A, the champion golfer remarked on the trophy's unexpected weight. He turned to a person carrying the Claret Jug and said: "It's light, isn't it?" The footage tracked Scheffler's journey after his Open triumph, from heartfelt celebrations to expressing gratitude to staff and engaging with the press. Upon closer examination of his newly acquired trophy, Scheffler spotted an intriguing detail. Having inspected the trophy's past engravings, Scheffler shared: "The first thing I noticed was this, '2020: No championship owing to global pandemic.'" The Open has awarded Scheffler a replica of the iconic Claret Jug, which he must return to The R&A next year. The tradition of players keeping the same replica trophy for 12 months began in 1928. The original Claret Jug is on permanent display at The R&A. Alongside the Claret Jug, Open champions are also presented with a gold champion's medal, which Scheffler will retain. The Claret Jug has been awarded since 1873. It was commissioned in the previous year, and although Thomas Morris' name was the first to be engraved on it, Tom Kidd was the inaugural champion to lift the trophy when he triumphed 152 years ago. Scheffler's recent string of successes has led some to compare him with Tiger Woods, who has won The Open on three occasions. Yet, Scheffler dismissed such comparisons as premature during his post-championship press conference. "I still think they're a bit silly," Scheffler admitted. "Tiger won, what, 15 majors? This is my fourth. I just got one-fourth of the way there. I think Tiger stands alone in the game of golf. "He was inspirational for me growing up. He was a very, very talented guy, and he was a special person to be able to be as good as he was at the game of golf. I don't focus on that kind of stuff."
