Significant progress made under CM road development plan in Arunachal: Khandu
Khandu said the roadmap for infrastructure development in Arunachal must not be dictated solely by national priorities, but rather by the everyday needs of people residing in its scattered hamlets and difficult terrains.
'To ensure inclusive development, it is imperative that highways and roads are built not just where national priorities align, but where our people live, work, and serve," he said in a social media post.
The chief minister said the ambitious state-driven initiative has already seen Rs 965.99 crore sanctioned, resulting in the completion of over 393.57 km of road length in challenging areas, many of which fall outside the conventional national planning radar.
'This is a reflection of our improved financial health and our determination to ensure no village is left behind," Khandu said, adding that the government will continue to invest in connectivity to uplift lives and empower communities.
During the day, the chief minister convened a meeting with Director General of Border Roads Organisation Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, at his office, to review progress on vital infrastructure projects being implemented by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
The meeting was also attended by senior officials from BRO Projects Arunank, Brahmank, and Udayak.
Taking to social media, Khandu wrote, 'Sat down with Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, Director General of Border Roads, along with senior officers from Projects Arunank, Brahmank, and Udayak. We discussed how to further strengthen road infrastructure across Arunachal, with a special focus on our remote and border regions." The discussions revolved around scaling up last-mile connectivity in the border areas, which not only strengthens national security but also uplifts rural economies and improves local livelihoods.
He lauded the BRO for its commendable efforts in executing projects in some of the most treacherous terrains of the state.
'BRO has been doing outstanding work connecting communities, boosting the local economy, and reinforcing national security in our most difficult areas," Khandu added. PTI UPL UPL RG

New India has the courage to crush the perpetrators of terror
Varanasi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Varanasi comes at a time when both India and the world have witnessed the country's strength and capabilities through the successful execution of Operation Sindoor. Referring to the military operation in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, Adityanath said, 'This New India has the courage to crush the perpetrators of terror into the ground and eliminate enemies by entering their territory. 'Prime Minister Modi's arrival in Kashi today follows the triumph of Operation Sindoor. On behalf of the people of Uttar Pradesh, I welcome and congratulate the prime minister.' Highlighting Modi's global stature, the chief minister said, 'He is the world's most popular leader. In recent days, you must have seen how four different countries awarded their highest civilian honours to Prime Minister Modi.' Adityanath also underlined the pride that Varanasi, or Kashi, takes for being represented by Modi as its Member of Parliament. 'It is a matter of immense pride that Prime Minister Modi represents 'Avinashi Kashi' (indestructible city of Kashi) in Parliament. Over the last 11 years, Kashi has emerged as a unique confluence of the ancient and the new -- a blend of spirituality and modernity that continues to draw global attention.' He also pointed out that Modi's presence in his home constituency for the 51st time is unprecedented for any prime minister. 'So far, the prime minister has inaugurated projects worth Rs 34,000 crore out of the Rs 51,000 crore sanctioned for Varanasi in recent years,' he said. Adityanath added that during his visit on Saturday, Modi would launch development projects worth another Rs 2,200 crore for the people of Kashi. These include initiatives in connectivity, water supply, education, healthcare, sports, cultural rejuvenation, and all-round regional development, the chief minister said.

Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train to start soon, cut travel time: Vaishnaw
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday said India's first bullet train service will commence very soon, and it will cut the travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to two hours and seven minutes. The Union minister was at Bhavnagar terminus from where he virtually flagged off the Ayodhya Express, Rewa-Pune Express, and Jabalpur-Raipur Express, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Chief Ministers Mohan Yadav and Vishnu Deo Sai respectively. "The first bullet train from Mumbai to Ahmedabad will start very soon, and the work on the project is going on at a fast pace. When it starts running, the journey from Mumbai to Ahmedabad will take only two hours and seven minutes," Vaishnaw said. India's first bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will span 508 kilometres. It will start from the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) area in Mumbai, and connect to Gujarat's Vapi, Surat, Anand, Vadodara and Ahmedabad, running at a high speed of 320 km per hour. Addressing a gathering here, the Union minister also gave details of the upcoming railway projects in Gujarat, including a new train between Porbandar and Rajkot, a Rs 135-crore coach maintenance facility at Ranavav station, a railway flyover in Porbandar city, two Gati Shakti cargo terminals, and a container terminal at an upcoming port in Bhavnagar. Several new projects have also been undertaken in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, with the double-engine governments in the two states making projects progress rapidly. Vaishnaw claimed that in 11 years of the Narendra Modi government, 34,000 km of new railway tracks have been laid, with almost 12 km of new tracks built in the country daily. He said 1,300 railway stations are being redeveloped in the country, which is something that has never been done before. "No one has undertaken such a big work to date. When railway stations are renovated in developed countries, they are done systematically by closing down all stations and trains," Vaishnaw said. "There is a huge population here, and everyone's expectation is that work should progress, trains should run, and the station should also be redeveloped. Taking all these challenges into account, Modiji has a big vision today regarding the renovation of these stations," he said. The Union minister further spoke about trains introduced by the Modi government Vande Bharat Express, Amrit Bharat Express, and Namo Bharat Express. "Eight Amrit Bharat trains have been launched so far. They have features like Vande Bharat trains, but the fare is low. These trains have been constructed using new-age technology, and you will be surprised to hear the emotions expressed by passengers using these trains," he said. Union Ministers Mansukh Mandaviya and Nimuben Bambhaniya were also present on the occasion.
