When Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone rocked the Met Gala carpet in 2017
The
Met Gala 2025
is almost here. Scheduled to take place on the 5th of this month, this years' Met Gala is sure to take all the fashionistas into the Gala World with its theme being 'Superfine', with its focus on celebrating Black dandyism from the 18th century through to its revival during Harlem Renaissance and its impact on fashion today. Similar to the previous years, this year too is expected to be a star-studded event with Indian stars like
Priyanka Chopra
, Shah Rukh Khan and many others gracing the event. Founded by publicist Eleanor Lambert, The Costume Institute Gala at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art is the biggest fundraising event on the fashion calendar, where famous celebrities from the world of fashion, movies, music and art come together to raise money and celebrate the grand opening of its latest exhibition.
The Met Gala 2025:
Scheduled to start on the 9th of May, this year actor Colman Domingo, Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, rapper A$AP Rocky and record producer, musician, and Louis Vuitton men's creative director Pharrell Williams would be co-hosting the gala alongside Anna Wintour. The past has seen some prominent celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Gigi Hadid, Serena Williams and Kendall Jenner, grace the event by the invite only guest. The year 2024 also saw some prominent figures like Alia Bhatt, Mona Patel, and Sudha Reddy attend the event and make a mark at the event.
Throwback to the year 2017
As the gala gets closer day by day, let's take a throwback look to the year 2017, where Bollywood' s stars made everyone's heads turn with their impeccable fashion and style.
Priyanka's Striking Look:
Priyanka Chopra commanded attention at the Met Gala, showcasing a striking trench coat dress crafted by Ralph Lauren. This dramatic ensemble served as a bold homage to the previous year's honoree, Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcons, a true visionary in the fashion landscape. Chopra complemented the outfit with sleek black boots and eye-catching statement earrings.
Deepika's Met Gala Look:
In contrast,
Deepika Padukone
opted for a more conventional look, choosing a white satin gown adorned with embellishments from the Tommy Hilfiger Collection Gowns. While the gown's backless design undoubtedly enhanced Padukone's beauty, along with her embellished hair accessory, her choice drew criticism from some who felt it did not adequately align with the event's theme.
We really hope this year's Bollywood beauties go all out to make a grand entrance at the Met Gala, living up to this year's theme looking 'Superfine'.
