Coachella's opening day is here. Follow along live

Happy Coachella! Meet your guides to the weekend
After months of waiting, it's finally here. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival kicks off today and we have a team in the desert covering everything: the food, the fun, and, of course, the music.
We'll give you updates all weekend long. If there's something you want to see, let us know. (And if you prefer to interact on Reddit, you can ask me over there at r/Coachella.)
We asked our team of reporters in the field to tell us what they're most looking forward to this Coachella.
'Finding out what it means for Travis Scott to have 'designed the desert.'' — Mikael Wood, who first Coachella'd in 2005
'Seeing all the classic punks (Glenn Danzig, Keith Morris, Belinda Carlisle) mingling backstage in the hospitality suites next to all the lip filler influencers and crypto bros.' — August Brown, whose first Coachella was 2006, a.k.a. the Daft Punk pyramid year
'Finally crossing the Go-Go's off my concert bucket list.' — Vanessa Franko, whose first Coachella was the Rage Against the Machine reunion in 2007 and has covered every year since
'Reaching elder millennial nirvana at Missy Elliott's set.' — Danielle Dorsey, whose first Coachella was in 2010 and who says, 'I think I've been six or seven years, but what is time?'
'Though I may claim to be 'Brat'-fatigued, seeing Charli XCX command a crowd never gets old.' — Cerys Davies, who first attended Coachella in 2017
'Hearing Mother Monster perform 'Abracadabra' after practicing my 'amor-ooh-na-na's and 'morta-ooh-ga-ga's for two months.' — David Viramontes, who is attending his first Coachella
Everything you need to know about this year's Coachella The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival returns to the Empire Polo Club in Indio April 11-13 and April 18-20.

The artists you don't want to miss at Coachella on Friday Controversial Irish emcees Moglai Bap and Mo Chara and DJ Provai of Kneecap.
Whether you're headed to the festival or watching from home, these are the artists playing Friday at Coachella you don't want to miss.
7 shops and restaurants that show why Indio is a must-see beyond Coachella Downtown Indio is attracting new restaurants and shops.
Hundreds of thousands of people descend on Indio each year for Goldenvoice's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Stagecoach, but few venture beyond the festival grounds. In the past, there wasn't much to do in the desert city besides grab chips and a decadent Tamale Boat from Arriola's Tortilleria or shop at Yellow Mart for western wear or a crossbow. Now, that's all changing. Thanks in part to a business-friendly city government that is investing in art and infrastructure, downtown Indio is growing at an unprecedented pace.
New restaurants like Marcel Ramirez's Gabino's Creperie East, Roman Whittaker and Skip Paige's popular gastropub Indio Taphouse and elevated Italian speakeasy Italica are drawing more people to and around the single-street stripthan have been there in decades. Thrifters can shop for vintage goods at Daniel Mata's Urban Donkey, and those looking for an alternative nightlife scene can check out Adrian Romero's Rosemary HiFi to sip beer and natural wines while listening to records on high-end stereo equipment.
Read more about where to eat and what to do in Indio outside of the festival.
Pack these books for Coachella: Your music festival reading lineup 'Whether you're heading out to Indio, or enjoying the annual exodus of Angelenos, here are some books that give Coachella Valley vibes,' writes Meg Zukin.
It's festival season. And no, I don't just mean The Times' Festival of Books happening at the end of the month ( see you at my panel…? ). I'm also talking about Coachella and, unfortunately, Stagecoach . Whether you're heading out to Indio, or enjoying the annual exodus of Angelenos, here are some books that give Coachella Valley vibes. As usual, you'll also find the latest in lit news below, plus, we hop on the phone with the Best Bookstore in Palm Springs .
What do you want to know about the Coachella festival? Festivalgoers pose for photos at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Tell us what you want to know about the event.
Our crew consists of veterans who have been covering the festival for decades as well as some first-time Coachella attendees. We've chronicled the food, the art, the fashion, the vibes — and, obviously, the music.
We are privileged to have a unique vantage point into one of the world's biggest music festivals. So we want to know — what do you want to know? And what do you want to see from our live coverage at the festival?

Tom Hiddleston Dances Up a Storm: ‘I Just Wanted It to Fly'

A creeping sense of dread washed over Tom Hiddleston as he read the script for 'The Life of Chuck.' He knew that its director, Mike Flanagan, wanted him to play Chuck Krantz, or, as the actor put it, 'a harbinger of the apocalypse.' But as he read on, there came excitement, a thrill. Chuck has a secret: He loves to dance. Hiddleston, 44, loves to dance, too, a discovery he made when he was a teenager. 'It was instinctive,' he said in a recent interview via video. 'But it was only for me. I didn't train, I wasn't in dance classes.' He went out dancing with friends. The 1990s were his time. 'My love for Daft Punk,' he said of the electronic music duo, 'is enduring and real.' While he is foremost an actor, Hiddleston has become something of a dance ambassador. Lean and elegant, he has the air of Fred Astaire. His limbs are long, but they don't slow him down; his feet are fast and accurate. Known for his spontaneous eruptions of dance joy — on talk shows and the red carpet — Hiddleston is a natural with rhythmic acuity and, at times, riveting attack. His dancing, whether smooth or sharp, is instinctive and shaped by coordinated fluency. What's apparent is the pleasure he gets from it: Certainly, there is Hiddleston the man, but also discernible is the boy within. There is innocence and fearlessness in his love of motion. An avid runner, Hiddleston said, 'I've always thought of running as dancing forward.' Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

39 Infuriating TV Moments That Enraged Viewers

A bit ago, Reddit user Whitino asked, "What TV show or movie had a character or plot that made you genuinely angry, and what was it?" and people had plenty to share. Here are 39 TV plotlines, aspects, and scenes that made people so genuinely angry, they almost gave up — or even did give up — the show. On Dexter, when Deb confessed her feelings for step-brother: When Andy became a brat again in Season 9 of The Office: When Landry killed someone on Friday Night Lights, and his dad helped him cover it up: When Five and Lila got together on The Umbrella Academy: Just everyone helping Mike cover up his fraud on Suits: The plane crash in Breaking Bad: When Nate leaked Ted's panic attack to the press on Ted Lasso, then went to work for Rupert, because he felt "neglected" by Ted: When The Walking Dead killed Glenn: And, before that, Glenn's fakeout death: Also, Beth's death on The Walking Dead: When Rory revealed she was pregnant at the very end of the Gilmore Girls revival: On Game of Thrones, when the Mountain killed Oberyn: And when Stannis sacrificed his daughter Shireen: Aaand when Bran became king: Just the existence of Brian in The Office: When Denny came back as a ghost on Grey's Anatomy: When Logan died right after marrying Veronica on Veronica Mars: When Spike attempted to sexually assault Buffy on Buffy the Vampire Slayer: When Frasier had Daphne go away to 'fat camp' because the actor was pregnant: When it was revealed Luke had a daughter on Gilmore Girls: When Dan was revealed to be Gossip Girl on Gossip Girl: Suggested by u/FreshLuxeThis will NEVER make sense to me. There were times Dan reacted to a Gossip Girl post while ALONE as if he was just seeing it!!! Also, I don't know how it was a love story to Serena. He spread rumors that she was pregnant and that she had an STI, among other things — the whole site started with a photo of an underage Serena in a wet, white dress that revealed more than Serena would've wanted shown. He constantly stalked her and her friends — yes, even if a lot of it was through others sending tips, I think it still counts. Also, let's not forget his tip caused the paparazzi swarm that caused Blair to have a miscarriage. And I haven't even gotten to the stuff he revealed and wrote about his own sister. I don't care if she gave him permission or not. And when Dan and Blair dated on Gossip Girl: When House had a bone marrow plotline and made it seem terrifying: When Ben killed Locke on Lost (literally like two minutes after convincing Locke not to kill himself???): When Bones decided to make Bones baby wild: And when Bernadette and Penny got pregnant on The Big Bang Theory: On The 100, when Bellamy betrayed everyone and voted for Pike as chancellor: And of course, when Clarke killed Bellamy, which was wildly out of character: When Rick and Morty moved to the new Earth on Rick and Morty: Alll the messed-up messaging about men and consent on Friends: And when Joey and Rachel got together on Friends: When Jackie and Fez got together on That '70s Show: Regina's redemption arc on Once Upon a Time: When Tyler was brutally assaulted in the bathroom on 13 Reasons Why: Suggested by u/KovuthebilionThis show had already taken things too far in what they were willing to show onscreen. But once they moved past the source material of the book, it got even worse. This was genuinely so disturbing to watch, and I never turned on the show again. I don't think they needed to have yet ANOTHER character go through a sexual assault, and if they insisted on writing that, they still did not need to show it. It was so gratuitous and messed up. When Roseanne revealed that the entire last season of Roseanne had just been a fictional story she was writing in a book: When Christopher cheated on Adriana on The Sopranos: When A was revealed to be Spencer's identical British twin, Alex, on Pretty Little Liars: Suggested by u/cannoliruleYes, this happened right at the very end of the show, but it still made me mad (though to be fair, it hadn't been good since the time jump). It felt like they wanted to honor the novels — which gave Ali a twin — but did it in the worst possible way. I think Troian was the best actor on the show by far, but her British accent was so laughably bad I can't take it seriously. The whole thing was nonsensical and ridiculous. When Kim showed up on Law & Order: SVU: And finally, the end of How I Met Your Mother: Now it's your turn — what TV plotline made you so furious, you had to stop watching the show, or at least take a break?
