Bangladeshis with long-term illegal stay detained in Ops Noda
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the trio did not possess valid travel documents and are believed to have been living illegally in Malaysia for about eight years.
'This is their third visit to the entertainment outlets as customers,' he said in a statement today.
The five others detained in the operation, which began at 2 am, comprised a local man, two Indian nationals, a Pakistani man and an Indonesian woman.
Rusdi said all detainees have been handed over to the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters for further action, with the foreigners being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.
The local man, who manages one of the clubs, is being investigated under Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
Rusdi added that all six Bollywood-themed outlets operate daily from around 5 pm or 9 pm until 5 am.
'Investigations found that most patrons were Indian and Bangladeshi nationals, while workers earned an estimated monthly income of between RM1,800 and RM2,000,' he said, adding that all outlets held valid operating licences.

Immigration detains 37 foreigners in major Johor Baru operation
JOHOR BARU: Thirty-seven foreigners were detained in raids by the state Immigration department for various immigration offences, here. Its director, Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus, said Ops Selera and Ops Sapu were conducted around Johor Baru on Friday (Aug 15) with the involvement of 40 officers. 'The arrests involved 13 Myanmar men, 10 Myanmar women, five Bangladeshi men, three Indonesian men and six Indonesian women, aged 21 to 60. "Two foreigners also tried to escape during the operation but were nabbed. 'A local man, who was the premises owner, was also arrested for harbouring the foreigners,' he said in a statement on Sunday (Aug 17). He said the detainees were found without valid permits, overstaying despite expired or revoked permits, and misusing social visit passes. 'Six notices were also issued requiring individuals to appear at the Enforcement Division office to assist investigations. 'All detainees have been placed at the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for further action,' he added. Mohd Rusdi said the operation was based on intelligence from public complaints about foreigners working without permits. 'We will continue to step up enforcement against foreigners committing immigration offences, and will not compromise with employers, premises owners or individuals who hire or harbour them. 'Eligible foreigners are also encouraged to join the Migrant Repatriation Programme 2.0, which runs from May 19 until April 30 next year, to return home voluntarily,' he said.

Indonesian woman held at KLIA2 over suspicious security stamp
PUTRAJAYA: An Indonesian woman was detained at the departure hall of Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA2) on Saturday (Aug 16) after immigration officers discovered a suspicious security stamp in her passport. The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency said that initial investigations revealed the woman had entered Malaysia through immigration at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex in Tanjung Kupang, Johor. "However, further checks via the MyIMMs system showed no official record of entry or exit for the subject up to this year," it said in a statement on Sunday (Aug 17). Following this, AKPS said, the woman was arrested on suspicion of committing an offence under the Immigration Act 1959/63. According to the statement, the individual would be handed over to the Selangor Immigration Department's Enforcement Division for further investigation and action. The agency stated that the matter would be investigated further to identify those responsible and that disciplinary action would be taken against any officers involved. The agency also stressed that efforts to combat falsification of travel documents and any form of immigration law violations would be intensified to ensure the safety and integrity of the country's entry points are maintained. – Bernama
