Hitting shelves across the UK from August 21, the liqueur is priced at £6.99 for a 70cl bottle, and packs a bold berry punch with a sweet-and-sour twist.
And it's said to "taste just like Ribena" which will be great news for fans of the classic blackcurrant drink after the brand announced it was discontinuing its sparkling drinks range.
Aldi's latest tipple channels those nostalgic flavours, but with an adult-friendly kick.
Berry blast from the past
Inspired by one of Britain's best-loved blackcurrant soft drinks, Tangz Blackcurrant brings that unmistakable Ribena-like flavour in a swanky, spirit-infused form.
At just £6.99, it's a whopping 38 per cent cheaper than rival brand Sourz - which is currently being sold for £11.25 at Tesco, or £8.25 if you have a Clubcard.
Drinkers are already getting creative: enjoy it neat over ice for a neat berry hit, or mix with lemonade for a fizzy summer spritz.
The Sour Blackcurrant bottle joins two other Tangz flavours: Sour Apple and Sour Cherry.
Both have been on Aldi shelves for a while, also priced at £6.99.
Other nostalgic drinks making a comeback
It's part of a nostalgic wave sweeping supermarket aisles—retro-style sips that marry childhood flavours with alcohol, giving shoppers that familiar zing with a grown-up edge.
Other recent launches have tapped into the same trend.
Hooper's Hooch, the iconic 90s alcopop, has returned in draught form across pubs nationwide, offering its zesty lemon hit in pint glasses for the first time in decades.
What to do next if you have recalled food or products
Marks & Spencer's creamy advocaat has also been a festive hit, with drinkers likening it to a 'boozy milkshake' that brings back cosy Christmas memories.
Even Babycham, the sparkling perry that was once a party staple, is making a comeback in chic little bottles, still sweet, still bubbly, and still full of retro charm.
It's not just booze getting the retro treatment.
High-street shelves have seen the return of Panda Pops, the fizzy fruit drinks once found in school tuck shops, and limited-edition bottles of J20 Glitterberry, a sparkling grape and cherry mix popular at Christmas.
NHS guidelines on drinking alcohol
According to the NHS, regularly drinking more than 14 units of alcohol a week risks damaging your health.
To keep health risks from alcohol to a low level if you drink most weeks: men and women are advised not to drink more than 14 units a week on a regular basis
spread your drinking over 3 or more days if you regularly drink as much as 14 units a week
if you want to cut down, try to have several drink-free days each week
If you're pregnant or think you could become pregnant, the safest approach is not to drink alcohol at all to keep risks to your baby to a minimum.
You read more on the NHS website.
Ribena itself has also revived its classic glass-bottle cordial for a short run, aimed at fans who remember pouring it over ice on long summer days.
Even Lilt, the tropical fizzy drink 'with the totally tropical taste' – had shoppers talking recently when Coca-Cola re-branded it under the Fanta name.

Meghan Markle's 'pattern of behaviour' as she faces claims of 'copying Kate'

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Meghan Markle is confronting renewed claims she's "mimicking" her sister-in-law, the Princess of Wales, after her latest television agreement with Netflix. The Duke of Sussex, 40, and the Duchess of Sussex, 44, revealed a fresh "first-look" arrangement last week with the American streaming platform. Beyond placing Meghan under additional examination, specialists inform the Mirror that the particulars represent an obvious "reality check" for the pair. The agreement features a fresh festive instalment of Meghan's With Love programme, inviting audiences to "join Meghan in Montecito for a magical holiday celebration". Royal observers were swift to claim Meghan was attempting to hijack the seasonal spotlight from Kate, 43, who presents her own yearly Christmas gathering, reports the Mirror. Kinsey Schofield, a podcaster and Royal specialist in the US, maintains, though, that the Sussexes have demonstrated a "pattern of choosing moments" that threaten to eclipse other Royal events – and Christmas could prove no different. "It's become so noticeable it was reported recently that Harry had offered to share his schedule with the family as an 'olive branch' to avoid competing in the future," she explains. This emerges as Royal couple secretly welcome second baby and reveal tot's adorable name. Previously this year, Harry faced accusations of "stealing the limelight" from his father and stepmother when he turned up at the Royal Courts of Justice in London shortly before King Charles and Queen Camilla commenced their state visit to Italy, which also aligned with their 20th wedding anniversary. The launch of the paperback version of his explosive memoir, Spare, made global headlines, coinciding with the King and Queen's tour of Australia. Back in 2020, Meghan's team faced criticism when a series of fortnight-old photos were posted on her Instagram account on the same day Kate embarked on a UK tour. When Harry and Meghan announced their so-called "Megxit" on the eve of Kate's 38th birthday, they were accused of "overshadowing". However, regarding their Christmas plans, Kinsey suspects that Meghan is unlikely to replicate the feel-good celebration hosted by Kate. The mother-of-three organises an annual Christmas service at Westminster Abbey, which has become one of the most significant and touching events in the family's festive calendar. Kinsey, who presents the To Di For Daily podcast, doubts that Meghan's event will resonate in the same way, stating, "Catherine's carol concert is about unity, love, and hope. She arrives with her family, with a sense of togetherness and faith." In contrast, Meghan's Christmas special feels more like a branding opportunity. She's timed product launches from her lifestyle line, As Ever, to coincide with the release. "Catherine's carol concert is about unity, love, and hope. Kinsey adds. "Without the warmth of family or shared tradition, it comes across less as a holiday celebration and more as a commercial venture. When compared, Catherine's feels authentic and meaningful, while Meghan's risks appearing transactional. "The Sussexes' most recent television announcement arrives five years after they inked a Netflix agreement reportedly valued at over $100m (£74m), shortly after abandoning their roles as senior working fresh arrangement – characterised as a "multi-year, first-look deal" – means Netflix will fund the right to receive initial consideration of the couple's projects, but remains uncommitted to purchasing McNamara, a talent manager and PR crisis specialist, reckons the shift in conditions delivers a powerful signal. "It's not necessarily a humiliation, but it is a reality check for Meghan and Harry and also a reflection of the ever-changing entertainment world," he tells us. Every network and streamers' belts are tightening. Netflix wants to see sharper ideas and stronger delivery before committing to mega-budgets again. The upside is that this could help Meghan and Harry define what they actually stand for, creatively. "The duo's output thus far, including Harry's polo documentary and Meghan's With Love series, weren't precisely record-shattering triumphs, with the latter unable to penetrate Netflix's roster of the 300 most-viewed programmes of the year to also proposes that whilst Meghan won't appreciate the "copying" remarks, she would have been completely conscious that parallels would unavoidably be drawn. "Every broadcaster, charity and celebrity under the sun produces holiday specials. It's a warm, family-friendly format that audiences respond to. That said, Meghan knows the optics. Wanting to be seen in the same aspirational light as Kate isn't the worst strategy, but Meghan's challenge is to make it feel authentic to her own brand, not a re-skin of someone else's."

Take that, skinny-shamers! How stars including Cheryl, Olivia Attwood, Myleene Klass and Luisa Zissman hit back at vile critics of their slim physiques

has been forced to hit out at skinny-shamers, after sharing a bikini-clad image which led critics to brand her 'unhealthy and malnourished'. Following a barrage of criticism, the mother-of-three hit back at the 'skinny shamers', as she raged about the fact that the NHS is being drained by obesity and insisted she is 'strong and healthy' despite accusations from followers. Her exchange with the 'skinny-shamers' is one of many times stars have been forced to defend their physiques in the wake of comments regarding their shape. Back in 2015, Cheryl hit back at shocking comments regarding her weight, while Love Island star Olivia Attwood was previously left enraged by a social media user who alleged she was suffering from anorexia after she shared a bikini picture. Other famous faces who have also hit back and defended their slim physiques include Davina McCall, Myleene Klass and Vogue Williams. Daily Mail takes a look at the stars who have called out their cruel critics.... Her exchange with the 'skinny-shamers' is one of many times stars have been forced to defend their physiques in the wake of comments regarding their shape CHERYL In 2015, the star lost a dramatic amount of weight - sparking fears over her health due to her gaunt appearance, which she later revealed was the result of grief following the death of her father-in-law Cheryl, 42, has faced a barrage of criticism and concern over her figure from her fans and followers throughout her 23 years in the spotlight. In 2015, the star lost a dramatic amount of weight - sparking fears over her health due to her gaunt appearance, which she later revealed was the result of grief. After stepping out in a crop top and matching trousers at an X Factor event in July that year, shockwaves reverberated around fans at her tiny appearance. In response to critics, Cheryl revealed her frail appearance was due to shifts in her personal life including the passing of her father-in-law - her then-husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini's dad. She wrote on Instagram: 'I am so sick and tired of it being ok to call somebody too thing or a 'bag of bones'. I would never dream of calling somebody too fat and that they should maybe cut down on their food intake? What is the difference?... 'You have no idea what I have been through. Just losing my father in law v recently and everything that comes with that. Not that I am or should justify myself to anyone. 'I'm so f sick of people thinking it's ok to be mean or body shame anyone. And it's woman on woman. Have some respect and maybe think there may be reasons why before opening your mouth please.' In an interview with The Evening Standard Magazine at the time, Cheryl said: 'It's crazy double standards. You'd never be allowed to say to somebody, "Oh, you look a bit fat". And being overweight is unhealthy... 'It's actually a bad message to tell someone who is obese that they look 'curvy' or 'great'. 'But you know what? After this length of time, there's nothing I can hear about myself that I haven't already heard.' DAVINA MCCALL Last year, Davina McCall, 57, hit back at body shamers on Instagram after she was accused her of being 'too skinny'. The former Big Brother host shared a video response to the comments which she said had left her 'furious'. Davina blasted 'cruel' trolls who she said she's expected as celeb just to 'take' the jibes before declaring she 'felt and looked absolutely f***ing great'. Telling fans: 'I just thought I'd quickly do a post about the kind of, I guess it is like abuse, really, that I'm getting about my weight. It's really frustrating'. 'I feel like people post these things and then they have no consequences because they can post whatever they like and be cruel and I just have to kind of take it. I'm actually just left sitting feeling furious so I thought I'd offload here.' She went on: 'I'm a 5ft 6in woman who weighs 61 kilos. I don't diet. I exercise. I eat relatively healthily and I enjoy sharing that journey with people'. 'I'm 57 this year and I'm happy with the way that I look, and I feel absolutely f***ing great. And so I just thought I'd post that there.' "I can't really do much about my neck and my face unless I fill it with filler. I don't know what to do about my neck is my neck. And maybe the light was bad or something and everybody's but all you have to do is look at the rest of my posts on my page and see that I'm not unhealthy'. Before concluding: But this is this was, like, horrible. So I'm parking that there and I'm just saying maybe think before you post something. Wouldn't it be nicer to say something positive? And if you can't say something positive, don't bother'. She captioned the post: 'I'll probably regret posting this . I never normally do this . I'll probably leave it here for a bit and then delete'. OLIVIA ATTWOOD Olivia Attwood, 34, has previously faced criticism for weight - with her departure from the Love Island villa in 2018 seeing her branded 'anorexic' by a vicious critic. She took to Instagram to post a message to her followers saying, 'Just had a bit of time to read through some of the messages and comments I have had over the last few days. And WOW there is still a massive obsession with my weight... 'You have no idea why someone is the weight they are or the personal battles they are facing. I'm at this blissful age where I couldn't give a f**k what any of you think and I'm finally very happy in my own skin, but a few years ago this would [have] killed me.' 'I've had so many young girls messaging me who also struggle with their weight, so this is for them.. today when your looking down your Instagram and you think someone is too thin, or too fat, or their lips are too big or not big enough... 'Keep it to yourself you sad morons and go and do something f**king useful'. She also took to X to hit out at vile trolls and critics, writing: 'What a f--king disgusting thing to say. Anorexia is a disease, and that word should not be thrown around. Educate yourself you vile human.' Olivia later wrote an impassioned message on her Instagram, hitting back at criticism over her looks as she insisted she is 'finally happy in my own skin.' Referring to her past hang ups with her weight, the blonde beauty begged fans to be respectful of each other online. Olivia told fans she'd read some hurtful comments under her latest Instagram photo, calling her 'too thin' and even suggesting she has an eating disorder. Just had a bit of time to read through some of the messages and comments I have had the last few days. And WOW there is still a massive obsession with my weight.,' Olivia wrote in a lengthy Stories post. You have no idea why someone is the weight they are or the personal battles they are facing. I'm at this blissful age where I couldn't give a f**K what any of you think and I'm finally happy in my own skin, but a few years ago this would have killed me,' she added. 'I've had so many young girls messaging me who also struggle with their weight so this is for them. Today when your looking down Instagram and you think someone is too thin, or too fat or their lips are too big, or not big enough. Keep it to yourself you sad morans and go and do something f**king uesful with your day.' She continued the message in another post, adding that she was particularly upset that the comments mainly come from other women. 'What's even worse 99.9% of these comments are from other GIRLS. It's 2018 and we want equal rights and not be valued solely on our appearance, yet here we are on the internet tearing into the way each other looks,' Olivia pointed out. 'Do you see men doing that to each other??? NO. So if you are one of those girls you SUCK. Peace.' ZARA MCDERMOTT Zara McDermott, 28, shot to fame on Love Island in 2018 and went on to fashion herself as a fitness buff - however she was met with kick-back from fans. After posting a sexy selfie in 2020, she was forced to lash out at critics after being 'relentlessly trolled' over her weight loss, while her then-boyfriend Sam Thompson, from whom she split earlier this year echoed her woes. At the time, she revealed a bikini-clad image had garnered widespread criticism that left her 'sad and confused'. After she defiantly reposted the controversial picture, her Made In Chelsea star boyfriend of the time took to Instagram to hit out at her critics in a foul-mouthed rant as he admitted to being 'f**ked off' by the skinny-shamers. Zara had been keeping fans up to date with her weight loss and even launched her own Instagram page - A Day With Zara - to share cooking tips. Both her personal and health pages were predominantly focused on scantily-clad images which meant she fell victim to trolls - who branded her overweight the previous year, before later criticising her slimmed-down frame. In a lengthy post, she penned: 'Earlier on I posted a pic of myself in the mirror. My abs were looking great, I looked strong, I have been working super hard in the gym... 'I feel amazing, and I'm having an amazing holiday. I have been eating pretty healthy, getting my 5 a day every day, just feeling all around great... 'This time last year I was being relentlessly trolled online for being too fat. And if I'm honest, it was a huge catalyst for me taking a look at myself... 'In a society where bodies are plastered around every social media page, do I now have to hide mine? Even though I feel more confident than ever? Why? Do I need to put on weight and become unhealthy again so people don't bully me online?... 'Do I need to change? I'm feeling down, confused, sad and upset. I want to be able to show my body, my results, my hard work, just like most other people do online, and not feel panicked and insecure about what people will say... 'The positive being that I changed my lifestyle for the better and turned it into a positive, when I could easily have felt down and depressed about those comments... 'That's just the kind of person I am. On my journey to getting to where I am now, I never starve myself, in fact I post most of what I eat on this page and I love cooking!! I LOVE giving people healthy meal ideas... Both her personal and health pages were predominantly focused on scantily-clad images which meant she fell victim to trolls - who branded her overweight the previous year, before later criticising her slimmed-down frame 'However I saw some comments saying my body now is too slim. I never thought those kinds of comments could hurt me, but if I'm honest they hurt me more than the fat shaming comments. Why?... 'Because I have worked so hard to get to where I am, I have spent so much time changing my lifestyle and focusing on being healthier... 'I can now walk up a hill without feeling out of breath, I can run down the road and feel absolutely fine, my mental health has never been better. But now, every time I post a pic of my body, I get shamed. So what do I do?... 'Oddly, I feel like I was praised more online when I was bigger, however I was unhealthy then, so what is the right thing to do in this society we live in?... 'I am HEALTHY, HAPPY, I am a healthy BMI (actually in the mid range for someone my age and height). I don't want to hide away and start feeling unconfident again, but I also don't ever want to upset anyone! Advice please'. Zara then posted the image she was initially criticised for sharing, while adding the caption: 'Reposting this because I am so proud of myself and where I have got to... 'It hasn't been an overnight fix, it's taken me a whole year to get here, mentally and physically. I am PROUD'. MYLEENE KLASS Known for her slim figure, Myleene Klass has previously revealed that she is determined not to let her daughters fall victim to skinny shaming and diet culture. She said: 'I won't allow the word diet in the house. From a very young age, my children called Diet Coke's DCs... 'I do not want to hear people use the word diet – and I'm known for it! You do not sit at my kitchen table and take yourself down... 'You can cry, you can talk about your relationship falling apart, you can open up about the difficult times you're having, but you do not take chunks out of yourself because of your genetic makeup... 'I've been critiqued for my weight and imagine in so many guises, from being a mixed-race girl and not knowing how Asian I looked or how white I looked, to then working in the West End where weight was really monitored because you're replacing a role.' Vogue Williams Last year Vogue blasted body-shamers while praising the ripped body of her husband Spencer Matthews - who completed 30 desert marathons in 30 days. The Irish model, 39, opened up about the cruel trolling comments she receives about her weight. She and Spencer, 37, who married in 2018 and share son Theo, seven, daughter Gigi, four, and son Otto, three, are both very active and sport rippling six packs. Vogue told The Sun: 'There are some real rotten eggs in the world. It means absolutely nothing to me what someone says about my body because, do you know what? I feel really fit and really healthy. Once you get to your 30s, you just become more comfortable with yourself. She continued: 'I've been the same weight for a long time and my body shape doesn't ever massively change. I thought I'd have Victoria's Secret legs by now, but I don't! 'I always wished I had little, super-skinny legs, but mine will never be like that – it's just not the shape of my body. I have stronger legs, and I'm happy with that now.' Vogue said of Spencer: 'He looks great. He's in phenomenal shape. Can I be honest with you? I've never gone out with a guy with his [new] body type and his body looks absolutely amazing, but I'd fancy him even if he didn't have it. But fair play to him. No one's happier with his bod than he is!' Back in 2023, Vogue declared 'people aren't kind anymore' as she again opened up about trolling she received after modelling swimwear for M&S. It means absolutely nothing to me what someone says about my body because, do you know what? I feel really fit and really healthy' Vogue was called 'too thin' by followers after she modelled the black bather as well as a skimpy blue bikini during the getaway. Speaking to The Sun she said: 'I would never in a million years say anything negative to anyone online because I don't know them. 'People aren't kind. We went through a stage where everyone wanted to be kind to each other but now it's not.' She went on to say how she cannot please everyone and regularly receives nasty comments about being both too fat and too thin. Admitting: 'My weight doesn't really fluctuate. I don't really diet but I train a lot.' The montage of Vogue in her skimpy swimwear was uploaded to Marks and Spencer's Instagram page. Commenters wrote: 'I would never put negative comments about a person but I did stop this ad quite quickly and I'm sorry but I felt it wasn't directed at your every day woman modelling a swim suit and no harm Vogue.' 'Shocking advertising #promote body positivity'. Marks and Spencer wrote: 'A kind reminder to our followers that we use our platform in a positive way. 'We're proud to represent and celebrate people of all shapes and sizes. We won't tolerate any unkind or negative comments and anything unacceptable will be deleted. Let's all continue to uplift one another. Love M&S x.' In 2023, Vogue declared 'people aren't kind anymore' as she again opened up about trolling she received after modelling swimwear for M&S She said: 'I would never in a million years say anything negative to anyone online because I don't know them' Luisa Zissman The latest star to hit back was Luisa, who launched a scathing attack on critics of her latest bikini snap. The Apprentice star, 38, took to Instagram to share a selfie showing her posing in a two-piece while on holiday, leading to comments regarding her weight, with one user branding the star 'unhealthy and very malnourished'. Following a barrage of criticism, the mother-of-three hit back at the 'skinny shamers', as she raged about the fact that the NHS is being drained by obesity and insisted she is 'strong and healthy' despite accusations from followers. In her attack, she penned: 'Imagine I went round calling of you biscuit eating McDonald's loving lazy people fatties' and insisted her body is the result of 'energetic, health and mostly clean living'. The latest star to hit back was Luisa, who launched a scathing attack on critics of her latest bikini snap The Apprentice star, 38, took to Instagram to hit back at her critics with the rant, in which she spoke about the strain on the NHS In her attack, she penned: 'Imagine I went round calling of you biscuit eating McDonald's loving lazy people fatties' and insisted her body is the result of 'energetic, health and mostly clean living' She also lashed out at accusations of Photoshop - insisting her image was all natural In a further display of defiance, Luisa wrote: 'If you got off your as*es and stopped shoving sh*t in your mouths you wouldn't be as fat and fat wouldn't be normal. Just because the majority of people are overweight does NOT mean it's healthy.' Luisa left little to the imagination in the shot, where she posed in a monochrome bikini with underwired cups and thick black straps. The star, who shot to fame on The Apprentice in 2013, cocked one leg in the image to make the most of her lithe limbs while also showing her taut stomach. She then added the simple caption: 'Endless summer of fun', before being met with the shocking comments from a slew of enraged and concerned followers.
