
Another construction site ordered to close in KL
KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), in collaboration with several enforcement agencies, has taken action to shut down a construction site in the Wangsa Maju parliamentary constituency following a coordinated inspection operation.
In a post on its official Facebook page, DBKL said that the joint operation involved the police, the Fire and Rescue Department, the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), and the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp), and targeted two separate construction sites.
Following inspections, six compound offer notices were issued to the contractors concerned for various offences. Enforcement was carried out under the Destruction of Disease-Bearing Insects Act 1975 and the Construction Industry Development Board Act 1994.
DBKL said that it would continue enforcement and monitoring efforts on a regular basis to ensure safety, health, and regulatory compliance across construction sites in the city.

Body of pedestrian flung into river found near Jalan Ipoh crash site
KUALA LUMPUR: The body of a pedestrian who fell into a river after being hit by an out-of-control car along Jalan Ipoh, heading towards the Kepong roundabout, was found this morning. Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the victim, whose identity has yet to be confirmed, was found about 150 metres from the crash site at 7.30am. "The body has been sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for post-mortem. "The case has now been reclassified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving," he said in a statement today. It was earlier reported that the pedestrian was feared drowned after being struck by a car and falling into the river along Jalan Ipoh. The incident, which occurred at about 11.45am yesterday, involved a Nissan Sylphy driven by a 39-year-old Bangladeshi man from the direction of the Batu Muda People's Housing Project (PPR). The vehicle is believed to have gone out of control. Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) said it had mobilised its rescue squad to carry out high-risk technical work to retrieve the vehicle from the river, as part of an operation to locate the missing victim. Working alongside the police, the Fire and Rescue Department, and the Civil Defence Force, the DBKL team provided technical support to lift the vehicle and assist the search operation.

Elderly man injured in Dumpil house fire

PUTATAN: A 66-year-old man sustained burns after being caught in a blaze that destroyed two wooden houses in Kg Dumpil late Thursday. The Fire and Rescue Department received the distress call at 9.29 pm and arrived at the scene just four minutes later. Advertisement The victim, believed to have been attempting to escape the fire, suffered burns to the soles of his feet. He was given initial treatment by firefighters before being handed over to ambulance personnel for further medical attention at the hospital. The fire was brought under control by 9.52pm and the operation ended at 12.37am. Two non-permanent houses, measuring 20'x10' and 40'x50', were destroyed in the incident. However, quick action by firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to two nearby houses. Twenty firefighters from the Putatan, Kota Kinabalu and Penampang fire stations were involved in the operation, supported by three ambulances, four police personnel and representatives from Sabah Electricity. Penang Health Dept Shuts Down Seven Premises, Issues 167 Notices
GEORGE TOWN, June 13 (Bernama) -- The Penang state health department shut down seven premises, including a kindergarten, and issued 167 notices for various offences along with compounds worth RM43,600 in a public health operation yesterday. The operation was conducted to ensure compliance of the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024 (Act 852), the Food Act 1983 (Act 281), the Destruction of Disease-Bearing Insects Act 1975 (Act 154 and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Amendment) 2025 (Act 342). "A total of 84 notices were issued with compounds worth RM20,600 for various offences under Act 852, and notices to appear in court for prosecution were issued for two offences for selling cigarettes in open packs and one offence for selling cigarettes under the sale price. 50 tobacco products worth RM179 were also seized,' the department said in a statement tonight.
