Kim Kardashian Breaks Down Telling Kanye He ‘Changed' In New Documentary Trailer
Kanye West's turbulent life and career are taking centre stage in the new documentary, titled In Whose Name? On Wednesday, August 13, the makers dropped the trailer of the upcoming film, which will offer a closer and unfiltered look into the rapper's personal and public battles, also featuring his former wife, Kim Kardashian.
The one-minute trailer begins with Kanye, who is now known as Ye, walking in a circle surrounded by Yeezy sneakers, likely from his 2019 Forbes cover shoot. In the voiceover, the rapper reveals, 'I'm off my meds for five months now." The trailer then cuts to him closing a door with his ex-wife Kim's name written over it. The Skims founder, trying to hold back her tears, says, 'Your personality was not like this a few years ago."
According to Deadline, the documentary, directed by Nico Ballesteros, features thousands of hours of material, which were shot over a period of six years. The private moments captured by the young filmmaker will show the worsening mental health struggles of the 48-year-old rapper, alongside his deteriorating marriage to Kim Kardashian, loss of sponsorships and disturbing declarations.
Kanye West And Kim Kardashian Have A Tense Exchange In The Trailer
The trailer further showed the softer side of Kanye, where he was seen riding with his eldest daughter, North West, who is 11 now. And it also captured his bouts of anger, where he says, 'Never tell me I'm gonna wake up one day and have nothing." The video then cuts to Kim, where she is seen having a tense exchange with her ex-husband. In that moment, she tells him, 'We can talk about that later, but," and before she could even finish her sentence, Kanye cuts her off and adds, 'It ain't no but!"
The trailer of the documentary only gets more dramatic from there. It showed Kanye's infamous 2020 presidential campaign, including the South Carolina rally where he tearfully claimed that he and Kim had almost aborted their daughter, North. Furthermore, he says, 'I would rather be dead than be on medication… Either they destroy me or I destroy it." At one point, Kanye also mentions, 'They're killing our ability to think outside of the box," and 'I'm almost like a masochist… I write whatever I want when I want! It's words!"
When Is 'In Whose Name' Premiering?
The clip ends with the saying, 'You know the best thing about being an artist and bipolar? Anything you do and say is an art piece." He opened up about his mental health struggles in 2018, confirming through his album Ye that he was bipolar. In 2025, the rapper claimed that he was misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder and mentioned that he was actually on the autism spectrum. From Kanye To Ye: In Whose Name will premiere on just 1,000 screens on September 19. It will be released by AMSI Entertainment in partnership with AMC, Regal, and Cinemark theatre chains.

Universal Music CEO breaks silence on Drake's lawsuit over Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us: ‘Makes no sense'
Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge has slammed Drake for his lawsuit against the company. The Canadian artist sued the music corporation in January over the release of Kendrick Lamar's popular diss track, Not Like Us. He accused the label of defaming him by knowingly promoting 'false' and 'dangerous' narratives about him. However, the 65-year-old refuted the claims in a declaration letter filed Thursday with a New York federal court, arguing that the God's Plan rapper's allegation 'makes no sense,' Forbes and Variety reported. File photo of Kendrick Lamar and Drake(AP) Universal Music boss slams Drake's lawsuit over Not Like Us Grainge wrote in the letter that 'claims that I was behind a scheme to 'devalue' [Drake's] brand through the release and promotion of the Kendrick Lamar recording 'Not Like Us' — an allegation that makes no sense due to the fact that the company that I run, Universal Music Group N.V., has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in Drake, including longstanding and critical financial support for his recording career, the purchase and ownership of the bulk of his recording catalog, and the purchase of his music publishing rights.' He further slammed the 38-year-old's allegations that 'the music company that decided to publish, promote, exploit, and monetize allegations that it understood were not only false, but dangerous.' Grainge called Family Matters rapper's claims of his involvement 'farcical.' 'Given Drake's motion, I would like to make it quite clear that I had never heard the recording 'Not Like Us,' nor ever saw the corresponding cover art or music video, until after they were released by Interscope Records,' he added, per Variety. While One Dance hitmaker filed the lawsuit over the viral diss track, he did not sue Lamar. UMG is listed as the only defendant in his legal filings, including an amended complaint filed in April, per Forbes. The complaint clearly states that the 'lawsuit is not about the artist who created 'Not Like Us'.' Grainge's letter comes days after Drake's legal team sought evidence, including the Swimming Pools rapper's contract and other sensitive information.
