KL Rahul has spent most of his time preparing for the England tour after the Indian premier league 2025 ended. He deserves all the praise he's receiving for handling the 'dirty job at all numbers' for India, said former assistant coach Abhishek Nayar on Sunday.
With 532 runs at an average of 53.20, including two hundreds and two half-centuries, Rahul finished the five-Test series as India's second-highest run scorer. Additionally, he and Yashasvi Jaiswal build a strong opening partnership.

'I can't talk about the changes that I've seen in KL Rahul. I can't, because then it's out there and the effectiveness goes down a lot,' Nayar, the head coach of Women's Premier League team UP Warriorz, told PTI in an exclusive interview.
'All I can say is that, whatever the changes are, they have really worked. Sometimes (and) I always say in a cricketer's journey and in a team's journey things need to click. You need a bit of the rub of the green. I think he's had that as well.'
Nayar said Rahul didn't take a break after IPL
Nayar also said that Rahul immediately began preparing for the England tour after the IPL, without wasting any time.
'He has worked very, very hard. There are a very, very few people who know this that after the birth of his child he was in the IPL (and) he came back immediately,' he said.
'He started preparing for the (England) Test series while a lot of people wouldn't have done that. He knew the the importance of this series, he understood it.' said Nayar
'And every minute post the last game that he played in the IPL, was about how he can do well in this Test series, so it's great to see him do well there and get the recognition that he rightly deserves being the guy who's done all the dirty jobs and still managed to perform at every every number in that batting order,' he added.
'All in all, Indian cricket is in good hands and hopefully we wrap it up today (Sunday) and everything's good,' Nayar said, talking about the fifth Test.
Nayar also praised the Indian team for their attitude
Nayar also praised the character the Indian team showed during the five-match Test series
'A lot of the changes that you've seen in our players getting runs is also somewhere the conditions which have played a part, but also the fact that the hunger that our players have had to go out there and actually prove a point, is on show,' he said.
'The determination in the last game (Manchester), the fight they showed, it just tells you that the mentality that our players carry and, the feeling that they have for Test cricket,' he added.

‘Train differently, reinvent yourself to get consistent results'

Nagpur: Central India's first professional badminton training facility, following the model of India's most successful Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad, was inaugurated by none other than the former All England Champion himself on Thursday. Chief national badminton coach Gopichand was in the city to inaugurate the academy set up by his students, Arundhati Pantawane and SR Arun Vishnu. The inaugural function of the Arundhati Arun Badminton Academy (AABA) at Besa was a reunion and an emotional moment for the trio of Indian stars. In his address to the audience, Gopichand urged parents to be sympathetic towards their kids if they fail. He said, "For all of us, it's very important to realise that in sport, winning and losing is normal. Parents have to understand this more than the students. Players should think, 'I have to win at all costs'. The parents should be sympathetic, should behave like fans, and say it's okay to lose." He added, "Your dharma as an athlete is to try your best. Your dharma as a coach is to give your best. Your dharma as a parent is to support them the best." Sharing his success mantra, he said, "When people with the right effort, mindset, and body come to the right teacher, then the magic happens. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Are you ready to conquer a planet? Gopichand was full of praise for his students, who are following in his footsteps. He said, "After their first innings as successful players, they started their second innings as a coach, and today they made me achieve my third innings as a mentor to coaches. I am so happy that Arun and Arundhati have started this entire process." Later, speaking to the media about the performance of Nagpur's Malvika Bansod and what the next generation of Indian shuttlers should do for consistent results, Gopichand said, "I would not like to take names, but I think realistically we have about 6-7 players in the top 20 of the world. We have expectations from them. I do believe that every player should play international tournaments, and to get consistent results, these youngsters need to reinvent themselves in every tournament, and I think that is where the real challenge lies. " He explained, "When you win some good matches, upset higher-ranked players, then your opponent will take you seriously, start preparing for you, start respecting you. When this happens, then it's your turn to train differently. If you do this, then you will start getting consistent results."
