Dele Alli must wait for new Como chance as Fabregas mentions Barcelona defence
Cesc Fabregas insists that Dele Alli needs to 'keep working' before being given a new chance at Como and discusses his team's defensive approach: 'We can't do what Barcelona are doing.'
The Spanish coach held a press conference on Friday on the eve of a Serie A match against Parma.

Como officially secured survival last week after a 1-0 win over Genoa at the Stadio Sinigaglia, so Fabregas was asked if he'll rotate his squad and whether he'd start or give some playing time to Dele Alli.

'I play those who train well and earn a spot during the week. Dele Alli needs to keep working. He had his chance in Milan, but was sent off and then got injured,' he replied via TMW.
'When the right time comes, it just comes. Douvikas has trained well, and everyone is available except Sergi Roberto and Dossena.'
Alli made his Serie A debut against Milan in March but received a straight red card after just 10 minutes.

'Seeing the team give up after securing survival would hurt me.' Fabregas continued.
'I want to see the same grit and determination. It would be painful to witness a mental collapse. This is why the Parma game is important, I want to see the same attitude we've had in recent games.
'They must not feel satisfied. We have to perform for the team, the fans, and the club.'
Como have secured four consecutive wins in Serie A and are unbeaten in the last five.
The Azzurri have conceded 48 goals in 34 Serie A matches, but have kept three consecutive clean sheets.
'I'm happy with our defensive phase; we've improved a lot in this aspect,' said the former midfielder.

Fabregas then added, smiling: 'We can't do what Barcelona are doing, but defensively, we've come a long way, and I always want to see a high line.'

Lastly, as reported by SempreMilan, Fabregas spoke about his future as he continues to be linked with Roma and Milan.
'Journalists always know a lot more than I. I am very calm, and I repeat, as I said last week, I cannot say anything about anything because nothing has happened. Meanwhile, I continue to work with the same energy and strength as always.
'There's nothing new, if there's any news, I'll tell you right away. But at the moment, there is nothing.'

Cody Gakpo comes clean on Bayern Munich offer

Liverpool have got ambitions to restructure their squad this summer - starting with Florian Wirtz. The 22-year-old Germany playmaker is a No10 by trade but can also occupy a left-sided attacking midfield position. His potential arrival could have an impact on several current Liverpool stars. Dominik Szoboszlai, for one, might consider his place under threat with Wirtz a rival for a central attacking position. Advertisement But Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo might also be looking over their shoulders. If Arne Slot opts to keep Szoboszlai where he currently plays - in order to get through his fair share of off-the-ball work - then Wirtz could end up being fielded from the left. And if the club are going to spend £126m on a new attacker, the expectation is that he will be a nailed-on starter. Where that leaves Diaz and Gakpo right now is anyone's guess. Gakpo a target for Bayern Diaz, 28, has been extensively linked with both Barcelona and Al-Nassr - with Liverpool seemingly willing to cash in if the right bid materialises. Advertisement Gakpo has also been associated with a move away and Bayern Munich are known to be keen amid uncertainty for attackers like Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman. Under contract until 2028, the 26-year-old is reported to be seeking a new deal from the Reds. However, if an attractive bid is made for the Dutchman then sporting director Richard Hughes could opt to take it under consideration. © IMAGO - Cody Gakpo Liverpool 2024-25 'Maybe my agents have heard', admits Gakpo The question of Gakpo's future was put to him recently on international duty - when the attacker featured in the Netherlands' 2-0 win over Finland. Does he see himself sticking with Liverpool? 'The way it looks now, definitely,' he said. ' I am in my place and I am happy. We have had a good season and as a team, as a club we are looking for more.' Advertisement He was then quizzed on Bayern's reported interest, stating that he is leaving all talks in the hands of his representatives. "I haven't heard anything about it myself. I've moved on from that,' he said. "Maybe my agents have heard something about it, but I haven't heard anything yet. As I just said, I'm focused on how things are now." Gakpo has been at Anfield since January 2023 and excelled for Arne Slot last season when placed in his correct position. He scored 18 goals and added seven assists in 49 appearances overall.

Madrid makes debut as Imola dropped from 2026

The race in Madrid will run on a new 5.47km circuit around the Ifema exhibition centre between the Spanish capital and Barajas airport [Getty Images] The new Madrid Grand Prix will be held as the final race of an uninterrupted European section of the Formula 1 season next year. Madrid, to be held on 11-13 September, will be a second race in Spain and replaces the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Imola in Italy in a schedule that remains at 24 races. Advertisement Madrid's debut is one of a number of changes, most of which have been made in an attempt to streamline transport and reduce carbon emissions. Canada, traditionally held in early June, has moved to 22-24 May, the date that would have been expected to be filled by Monaco, which will now be held on 5-7 June. The switch ensures that Canada follows the Miami race on 1-3 May, creating what F1 describes as "significant freight efficiencies as some equipment can move directly from one to the other". Every race from Monaco on the first weekend in June to Madrid is then in Europe, before the Azerbaijan event on 25-27 September kicks off the final intercontinental part of the season. Advertisement The moves are in line with F1's new rules, in which revised engines run on 100% sustainable fuels. The season starts in Melbourne, Australia, on 6-8 March. The Bahrain Grand Prix, which has become the most common opening race, is again in April as a result of the timing of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Bahrain and the Saudi Arabian race will be held a week apart, but unlike this year there is a two-week gap between the Chinese and Japanese Grands Prix in March after Australia, rather than the one of this season. The British Grand Prix will be held on 3-5 July, and the season will mark the final appearance of the Dutch Grand Prix. It will be held at Zandvoort on 21-23 August. Advertisement The traditional Spanish race at Barcelona retains its place on 12-14 June as it fulfils the last year of its existing contract. The season ends with two groups of three races on consecutive weekends - the US Grand Prix in Austin on 23-25 October followed by Mexico and Brazil, and then the Las Vegas Grand Prix on 19-21 November followed by Qatar and Abu Dhabi, which brings the season to a close on 4-6 December. 2026 F1 calendar Australia - 6-8 March China - 13-15 March Japan - 27-29 March Bahrain - 10-12 April Saudi Arabia - 17-19 April Miami - 1-3 May Canada - 22-24 May Monaco - 5-7 June Spain (Barcelona) - 12-14 June Advertisement Austria - 26-28 June Great Britain - 3-5 July Belgium - 17-19 July Hungary - 24-26 July Netherlands - 21-23 August Italy - 4-6 September Spain (Madrid) - 11-13 September Azerbaijan - 25-27 September Singapore - 9-11 October United States (Austin) - 23-25 October Mexico - 30 October-1 November Brazil - 6-8 November Las Vegas - 19-21 November Qatar - 27-29 November Abu Dhabi - 4-6 December
