How will the Ballon d'Or 2025 winners be picked?
The shortlist for the Ballon d'Or awards was picked by the journalists of the France Football magazine, along with the French publication L'Equipe.
For the men's Ballon d'Or, the winner is determined by votes from one journalist representing each of the top-100 ranked nations in FIFA's ranking list. Each voter arranges 10 names from a pool of 30 shortlisted players in order of preference. Points are allocated according to position: 15 for the top pick, 12 for second, 10 for third, then 7, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 for the rest.
If two or more players finish with identical scores, the number of first-choice selections decides the higher spot. If that's still even, the comparison shifts to second-choice tallies, then third-choice, and continues until the tie is broken.
While picking the winner, the journalists are encouraged to consider three factors.
