British number one Jack Draper joked that his body used to break down easily despite "looking a bit like a Ferrari", but believes a decision to tune up means he is now more capable of going the distance in matches.The 23-year-old came out on top of a gruelling encounter with Australian Alexei Popyrin at Queen's on Wednesday, recovering from going a set down to win 3-6 6-2 7-6 (7-5) and progress to the quarter-finals.Draper is ranked sixth in the world and seen as the great British hope in men's tennis as Wimbledon approaches.He has never progressed beyond the second round of his home Grand Slam but he said after his win against Popyrin that he has been working on his strength and fitness to help last the distance in difficult matches."I have felt better and better every Grand Slam I have played," he said. "Before I felt like my energy wasn't that strong, and I felt like I looked like a bit of a Ferrari but I was a bit of a Toyota, like broke down quite easily."Now I'm starting to feel generally stronger and confident in myself."Draper said that a turning point for him came at the Australian Open at the start of the year.There he won three five-set matches in a row to set up a fourth-round meeting with world number two Carlos Alcaraz.However, Draper - whose pre-season was disrupted by a hip injury - retired while trailing 7-5 6-1.Despite that, he feels going the distance in those three previous matches was a significant moment."I have always worked really hard off the court," Draper said."I think it's helped me play more consistently on the tour, and I think those matches at the start of the year in Australia really helped me to get over that hurdle."
Draper 'aiming to peak' at Wimbledon
Following last year's retirement of three-time Grand Slam winner Andy Murray, the spotlight is now firmly on Draper.He has three career singles titles but last year achieved his best result at a major by reaching the semi-finals of the US Open.Draper is now hoping to be at his optimum once Wimbledon gets under way later this month, to give himself the best chance of going even further on home soil.Winning Friday's quarter-final at Queen's against American Brandon Nakashima will also ensure he is seeded fourth at Wimbledon, meaning he would avoid facing the likes of defending champion Alcaraz and world number one Jannik Sinner."My goal is to peak at Wimbledon," he said. "I'm going to give myself a chance each day to get better. I've been hitting the ball better and better in practice each time, but sometimes that doesn't necessarily adjust to the match court straight away."The tennis I know I can play and the tennis that's got me to the position I'm in, I think there is still a lot of improvement to come."

The Block entrepreneur then posted what appeared to be a bank transfer of $50,000 to the presenter on Instagram. Accepting cash, gifts or benefits to undermine journalistic independence, and improperly using a journalistic position for personal gain, are both breaches of the journalism code of ethics as defined by the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance union. The ill-advised stunt led to Alex being suspended by Nine and he did not appear on the show while the network investigated the payment. Nine's parting of ways with Alex went ahead despite Portelli's claim that the journalist intended the money to be paid to charity all along. Network insiders also told Daily Mail Australia that the stunt could have been beneficial for the network and Portelli, if Alex had advised the promoter that, as a journalist, he was unable to accept any payment for making the comment on-air.

Andy Farrell's Test team taking shape with powerhouse back line
There was no sense of a celebratory or carnival send-off for the British and Irish Lions when Andy Farrell named his first side to face Argentina in Dublin on Friday night. Technically it is a non-cap match, but good luck telling that to Farrell. The Lions head coach has picked a side dripping with potential Test-match combinations, a powerhouse back line featuring four players who weigh in at over 100kg, and his tour captain Maro Itoje. Half-backs Alex Mitchell and Fin Smith, of Northampton Saints and England, are given a first start together, the midfield of Bundee Aki and Sione Tuipulotu combines the squad's two most destructive ball-carriers, while outside stand two physically imposing wingers in Tommy Freeman and Duhan van der Merwe. It is the heaviest back line selected since Warren Gatland's series-winning picks for the third Test against Australia in 2013. Behind this imposing heft, Farrell has opted to sprinkle some stardust by starting Marcus Smith at full-back, reuniting the Smith-Smith 10-15 combination that England featured three times in the Six Nations. It is as if Farrell is the rugby fan having a first go at picking a side stacked with the 'fantasy rugby' subplots that make Lions tours so special. The pack is equally formidable, even with none of those involved in last week's Premiership and United Rugby Championship finals in the starting XV. In previous tours it has potentially been a game that is best to avoid for your hopes of making the Test side. But Farrell was keen to emphasise the sense of opportunity that this 23 can grab before the Leinster, Leicester and Bath players become available for the opening match against the Western Force in Perth. Huw Jones (Achilles), Hugo Keenan (calf) and Jamison Gibson-Park (glute), who are currently unavailable because of injury, are also expected to be available, according to Farrell, 'in the next week or so'. Blair Kinghorn's season for Toulouse has not yet finished. 'I want this team to put as much pressure as they possibly can [on the players watching the game from the stand], and they should want that from each other,' Farrell said. 'They should want this team on the weekend to put everyone who's in the stands under pressure, as that's what the shirt should do. It should bring the best out of everyone, and everyone has to rise to that challenge. 'You can tell with the buzz in the group, what it means to them and the excitement around the place, it just shows what it means. We have seen it in the preparation, how diligent they have been, how quickly they have come together as a group and the bond they have got already in a short space of time. Best foot forward and all that, it is all about the performance on Friday night. That is how we are going to get judged, how we want to do the shirt proud and represent the group properly on Friday night.' Farrell said he wanted to see 'cohesion and connection' from the side, including a bench that includes Henry Pollock and heavyweight experience of Tadhg Furlong, who has not played since May 3 because of a calf injury, Pierre Schoeman, Elliot Daly and Mack Hansen. '(I want) an ability to attack the game from the off and be the best version of themselves individually and collectively,' Farrell added. 'You can give yourself any excuse in terms of time together. But we've had good preparation. If you want to be a good Lions player, you have to hit your straps straight from the off. We want to see these players compete.' Beirne knows Farrell more than most, and he is one of a number of players who experienced the 2021 'Covid' tour of South Africa. He is desperate to seize the moment of playing on a proper tour with supporters for the first time. 'The expectation we would have of each other is that you can adapt to any system you're given and that's the challenge laid in front of us,' Beirne said. 'That's the challenge of being a Lion. 'Every four years there's going to be a new system, the coach is going to want to play a certain way and if you want to be a Lion, you're going to have to adapt or you'll get left behind. 'I would say if you came in here thinking that you could just play your club system or your country system, then you're probably already at a loss. 'So I think everyone comes into these things with a massive open mind and look forward to getting to play these new systems, getting to try something new and eager to learn. 'If you're not floating ideas of players in your position, you're already at a loss as well. We're in such a privileged position to come into these environments and learn from one another and get better as rugby players. Adaptation is a big part of that. We all want to be on the same page.'

Marcus Rashford 'emerges as SHOCK target for English Champions League club' - as Man United outcast looks to get his career back on track this summer
Newcastle are reportedly eyeing-up a shock move for Man United outcast Marcus Rashford this summer. Rashford, 27, has been exiled at Old Trafford, last playing for the Red Devils in December and he was loaned out to Aston Villa for the second half of the season. The forward impressed at Villa Park scoring four goals and adding six assists in 17 appearances in all competitions, but his future remains up in the air and he is not in Ruben Amorim 's plans. The 27-year-old's contract, which sees him earn £315,000-per-week, runs until 2028, and his wages could prove to be a stumbling block to any transfer. However, according to The Sun, Newcastle are ready to move for Rashford this summer and take him out of his United limno. The report claims that the Magpies believe they can provide the forward with an ideal platform to rebuild his career, while they would also offer him Champions League football. Mail Sport has previously reported how Rashford's dream move is to join Barcelona and his agent met with Deco, the Catalan giants' sporting director, last month, but no transfer has subsequently materialised. United value Rashford at around £40million and would like to facilitate a permanent exit, but the report goes on to add that Newcastle are keen to sign him on a loan deal. Any money United make from a potential Rashford sale would count as pure profit in their PSR calculations. Rashford is understood to want to play in the Champions League as the 62-cap England international aims to win a place in Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad next summer. Rashford was called up by Tuchel back in March, but he was absent from this month's internationals after missing the final period of the season due to a hamstring injury. The report adds that Newcastle view Rashford as an extra option to complement talisman Alexander Isak, who is expected to remain at St James' Park this summer despite being viewed as an ideal signing for several clubs. Meanwhile, shortly after Rashford was first excluded by Amorim for the Manchester Derby in December, he dropped the bombshell that he is ready for a 'new challenge and the next steps.' 'For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps,' he told Henry Winter in an interview. 'When I leave it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. You're not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me as a person. 'If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me.' When asked if he would always be a Red at heart, Rashford – who has been at the club from the age of seven and who made his debut in 2016 - replied: 'Yes! 100%. 100%.' Before he departed to Villa on a deal which included a £40m option to buy, Amorim had said Rashford 'has to change' to win back his place and it seems unlikely that he will play for United again.
