
Oman showcases Youth Empowerment at International Youth Forum
New York City, US – The Sultanate of Oman is actively participating in the International Youth Forum organised by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in New York City, taking place over three days.
Oman is represented by Ahmed bin Khalaf al Adawi, Advisor to the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth for Planning and Studies, alongside H E Ambassador Omar bin Said bin Omar al Kathiri, the Sultanate's Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
This marks the third consecutive year of Omani participation in the prestigious forum, reaffirming the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth's dedication to enabling Omani youth to engage with their international peers, share perspectives, and learn from global best practices in sustainable development.
The opening day of the forum explored youth-led solutions for a more resilient and inclusive future, focusing on key areas such as health and digital health (SDG 3), gender equality (SDG 5), and sustainable oceans (SDG 14). Discussions centred on the importance of integrating youth into national strategies and international development efforts, recognising them as key drivers of cultural transformation and innovation in a rapidly evolving digital world.
Forum speakers underlined the need for comprehensive youth policies that foster values of justice and dignity, and ensure youth are active participants in sustainable economic development for future generations.
On the second day, workshops and side events tackled themes including economic growth and decent employment (SDG 8), and the importance of partnerships (SDG 17) to achieve sustainable development. Members of the Omani delegation engaged in dialogue with global experts and fellow youth leaders, sharing Oman's experience in shaping Oman Vision 2040, which was developed with significant youth input and sets out the strategic direction for the nation's development.
The forum's closing day will feature high-level sessions during which youth delegates will present policy recommendations to global decision-makers.
Joining the Omani delegation are officials from the General Directorate of Youth, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and several graduates of the Ministry's 'Youth Ambassadors' programme, which prepares young Omanis for effective global representation.

Oman Embassy clarifies on recruitment of Indonesian domestic workers
Muscat: The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Jakarta issued on Wednesday a notice urging Omani citizens not to deal with offices involved in the recruitment of domestic workers in the Republic of Indonesia. According to the embassy, the export of Indonesian domestic workers is currently not officially permitted to Arab countries, including the Sultanate of Oman. The statement clarified that such recruitment remains unofficial and unauthorised. As a result, any financial transactions made for this purpose cannot be legally pursued, and the embassy confirmed that no legal procedures can be taken to recover funds transferred for unapproved recruitment. The embassy emphasised the importance of avoiding dealings that fall outside the official framework, as they are considered illegal.

H M Sultan Haitham to perform Eid Al Adha
Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will perform the Eid Al Adha prayer for the year 1446 AH at the Sultan Qaboos Mosque in the Wilayat of Nizwa in Dakhliyah Governorate. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Diwan of Royal Court announced that His Majesty will be accompanied by members of the Royal Family, ministers, advisors, commanders of the Sultan's Armed Forces, Royal Oman Police, and other security services. Also attending will be members of the State Council and Majlis A'Shura representing Dakhliyah, undersecretaries, walis, and a number of sheikhs, dignitaries, and citizens. The Diwan of Royal Court extended its warmest congratulations and best wishes to His Majesty the Sultan on the blessed occasion of Eid Al Adha. It also conveyed greetings to the Omani people, residents in the sultanate, and Muslims across the world, praying for continued good health and well-being for His Majesty and enduring prosperity for Oman

More youth to be trained for hospitality sector
A number of Omani youth will be trained and prepared to work in the hospitality sector, thanks to the ongoing efforts to boost inbound tourism, according to Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MoHT) sources. An agreement to train Omani youth in various fields of hospitality starting with hotel reception was signed by the MoHT with Mitsui E&P Middle East to finance and implement training programmes for the youth. The training programme will be implemented in cooperation with the Muscat Hospitality Academy, which is part of the internationally accredited Swiss School of Business, Hospitality and Hotel Management programmes. The three-month programme aims to qualify Omani staff to work in the hotel reception and front office management sector, enhancing the quality of tourism services provided and keeping pace with developments in this vital field. This agreement comes within the framework of joint efforts to enhance national empowerment in the tourism sector by developing the skills of Omani youth and preparing them for work in the hospitality sector. This agreement represents a model step for Public and Private Partnerships (PPP), reflecting the ongoing efforts to support the sustainable development of the tourism sector in the Sultanate of Oman by providing advanced training opportunities that open new horizons for Omani youth to work and contribute to strengthening the national economy. The ministry affirmed that this initiative is part of its plan to enhance national skills, commending the cooperation with Mitsui E&P Middle East and Muscat Hospitality Academy to achieve these shared goals. This agreement is part of a series of projects the ministry is implementing to support and develop the tourism sector and achieve its vision of building a sustainable tourism sector that contributes to comprehensive development in the Sultanate of Oman.
