The ex-Celtic treble winning boss has reportedly been looked at by clubs in England and in Europe after his sacking. Now the Telegraph report Saudi side Al-Ahli want to bring the Aussie in if their manager decides to move on - although former Barcelona icon Xavi is also on the Saudi side's shortlist. The Riyadh side, who have stars such as Ivan Toney, Riyad Mahrez and Roberto Firmino on their books, would offer Postecoglou big money to join. Their current boss, Matthias Jaissle, has been attracting interest of his own with the 37-year-old coach being looked at by clubs in Europe, including RB Leipzig. The German was also linked to the West Ham job before the London club appointed ex-Chelsea and Brighton boss Graham Potter. Postecoglou is accustomed to Asian football already with his experiences in Japan with Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan. He also won the Asian Cup in his spell as the Australia manager, whilst also guiding them to World Cup qualification in 2014. The Aussie bid an emotional farewell to Spurs fans after it was announced he'd been shown the door. BBC star shares shock theory as to why Tottenham waited exactly 16 days after Europa League win to sack Ange Postecoglou He said: "When I reflect on my time as Manager of Tottenham Hotspur my overriding emotion is one of pride. "The opportunity to lead one of England's historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime. "Sharing that experience with all those who truly love this club and seeing the impact it had on them is something I will never forget. "That night in Bilbao was the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and unwavering belief in a dream. "There were many challenges to overcome and plenty of noise that comes with trying to accomplish what many said was not possible. "We have also laid foundations that mean this club should not have to wait 7 more years for their next success. "I have enormous faith in this group of players and know there is much more potential and growth in them. "I sincerely want to thank those who are the lifeblood of the club, the supporters. "I know there were some difficult times but I always felt that they wanted me to succeed and that gave me all the motivation I needed to push on. "It's important to acknowledge the hard working people at Spurs who gave me encouragement on a daily basis. "And finally, I want to thank those who were with me every day for the last two years. "A fantastic group of young men who are now legends of this football club and the brilliant coaches who never once doubted we could do something special. "We are forever connected. Ange Postecoglou could get instant return as club contact sacked Spurs boss
Tottenham announced the sacking of Ange Postecoglou last week, despite the Australian guiding the club to the Europa League trophy, with Brentford boss Thomas Frank quickly unveiled as his successor Ange Postecoglou has been offered an immediate return to management after being sacked by Tottenham, with reports claiming Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli have "made contact" with the Australian. Postecoglou was axed by Spurs chief Daniel Levy last week despite guiding the club to the Europa League trophy, their first piece of silverware for 17 years. However, the former Celtic boss was under huge pressure after also overseeing Tottenham's worst ever Premier League finish of 17th, with the team losing 22 games. That was the most by any Premier League side without being relegated. As a result, it seemed likely the Spurs hierarchy would swing the axe before an official announcement came at the start of this month. Thomas Frank was duly appointed as his replacement this week. Attentions will now turn to where Postecoglou will end up next after bringing an attractive playing style to Spurs and ultimately the trophy they craved - coming through on his promise that he "always wins in his second season". According to the Athletic, Saudi outfit Al-Ahli have reached out to Postecoglou as they line up their next manager, given that current boss Matthias Jaissle has turned down a number of contract extensions. The club are now preparing for his successor and have placed Postecoglou on their shortlist alongside ex-Barcelona boss Xavi in the event that Jaissle departs. But the report says talks are "moving quickly" with Postecoglou, who has just returned from a holiday in Greece following the end of a turbulent campaign. Al-Ahli find themselves in a similarly complicated situation as Postecoglou was in at Spurs, given that Jaissle has just won the AFC Champions League and is popular with fans. Moving to the Middle East club would see him manage stars like Edouard Mendy, Franck Kessie, Riyad Mahrez Roberto Firmino and Ivan Toney. Postecoglou will feel hard done by to have lost his job at Spurs given he ended the club's lengthy trophy drought, but the club insisted they could not be ruled by emotion as they explained the reasons for his dismissal. A club statement announcing his sacking said: "We are extremely grateful to Ange for his commitment and contribution during his two years at the Club. Ange will always be remembered as only the third manager in our history to deliver a European trophy, alongside legendary figures Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw. "However, the Board has unanimously concluded that it is in the best interests of the Club for a change to take place. Whilst winning the Europa League this season ranks as one of the Club's greatest moments, we cannot base our decision on emotions aligned to this triumph."

Andre Onana drops Man Utd exit hint as 'Emi Martinez waits for Red Devils'
Manchester United are reportedly interested in Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and current first-choice stopper Andre Onana has now dropped a hint about his future Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has spoken out about his future amid reports that the Red Devils are eyeing a move for World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez. Onana has endured a difficult time at Old Trafford since joining the club from Inter Milan in 2023. The 29-year-old has made a series of high-profile errors which have prompted speculation that United could look to offload him and sign a replacement. And when asked about the rumours while attending an event in Burkina Faso, Onana told Afrik-Foot: "Will I leave? I don't know, we'll see!" Onana's comments come after reports from Argentina claimed that Martinez is keen on a move to United. The 32-year-old has been linked with moves to a number of clubs this summer and he recently addressed the rumours while on international duty. "My future? I don't know, I come here to play for the national team, and that's the only thing that matters to me right now," Martinez said. "Do I want to move to a new club? The transfer window just opened, so there's still a long way to go." And Bolavip are reporting that United are the 'main option' for the Aston Villa star. The report adds that Turkish club Galatasaray have made contact with Martinez after veteran goalkeeper Fernando Muslera left the club, but the Argentine wants to remain in the Premier League. It is claimed that Martinez is 'waiting on a call' from United, who are 'holding off' at the moment as they have not managed to sell Onana yet. And Martinez's former coach Neil Cutler, who worked with the goalkeeper at Villa, has backed him to be a success at Old Trafford. Cutler and Martinez remain close friends and he told the Sun last month: "This summer is pivotal for Emi in terms of his career. He's been voted the best goalie in the world twice and there seems to be an opportunity for him this summer, with all of his options open. "Big clubs are queuing up to speak to him and he either stays at a massive club like Villa or he goes to a truly world-class club. I don't think it's about money with Emi so I don't think he is ready to move to Saudi yet. "If he does move it would be to a much bigger club — one of the really big-hitters like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico... or even Manchester United. United can't offer him Champions League football but the sheer size of the club and the size of the challenge might appeal to Emi. "Emi has the confidence required to play for a massive club like United and would feel he could affect the club in a really positive way. He would look at United and say: 'Right, I can make this place better. I can help this club get back to where it was'."
