Egypt welcomes French President's announcement on recognizing Palestinian state

Egypt on Friday hailed French President Emmanuel Macron's announcement of his country's intention to officially recognize the State of Palestine.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, Egypt expressed its deep appreciation for this landmark and historic step, which supports international efforts aimed at establishing an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Egypt urged all countries that have not yet made this decision to recognize Palestine as a state.
This would affirm the international community's commitment to reaching a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, based on the principles of peace and justice, and supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people – foremost among them their right to self-determination.
Egypt emphasized the importance of concerted regional and international efforts to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.
It emphasized the moral and legal responsibility of all members of the international community and the Security Council to intervene to halt the genocide perpetrated by Israel within the occupied Palestinian territories, thereby preserving regional and international peace and security.
