Tirupati to Be Developed as Sports Hub
Alongside SAAP Chairman Animini Ravi Naidu and District Collector Dr. S. Venkateswar, the Minister unveiled a statue of hockey legend Major Dhyanchand at the Srinivasa Sports Complex on Wednesday. He also inaugurated several new facilities developed at a cost of Rs 6 crore.
The Minister highlighted various initiatives under the NDA government, including increased sports reservations to 3%, enhanced incentives for Olympic and Asian Games participants, and full financial support for training and transport. He also noted the recent inauguration of a state-of-the-art indoor stadium at Sri Padmavathi Mahila University, a unique facility in South India. Dr. Venkateswar said the sports complex was significantly upgraded using Smart City and CSR funds. Around 800 people now use the facilities daily, which include a gym, ball badminton, volleyball, synthetic tennis, water plant, shuttle, skating, and swimming areas.
An indoor rifle shooting range has also been introduced with SAAP and state support. SAAP Chairman Ravi Naidu credited Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for expanding the complex using funds from TTD, SAAP, and Smart City. He also announced the upcoming inauguration of the Gollavanigunta Cricket Stadium.
MLA Arani Srinivasulu, TTD Board Member Panabaka Lakshmi, SPMVV Vice-Chancellor Prof. Uma, and other dignitaries attended the event.

Mandatory Event Details and Safety Measures Event organisers are now required to submit a comprehensive application for an event permit. This application must include detailed information on the purpose of the event, the anticipated crowd size, clear outline of the safety measures and protocols that will be implemented to ensure the crowd's well-being and prevent any mishaps. The new law gives district magistrates the authority to postpone, cancel, or change the venue of an event if there's a risk of public unrest or breach of peace. The bill also includes stringent penalties for violations. Organisers who fail to comply with the law may face imprisonment for up to three years and fines up to Rs 5 lakh. In cases of injury or death due to negligence, the organiser is liable to pay compensation. Anantjeet emerges Asian skeet champion
Asian Games silver medallist Anantjeet Singh Naruka emerged the Asian champion in skeet as he beat Mansour Alrashidi of Kuwait 57-56 in the 16th Asian shooting championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, on Wednesday. After the silver in the Asian championship in Kuwait last year, it was a splendid elevation to the gold for the 25-year-old Anantjeet who had finished fourth in the Paris Olympics in mixed skeet with Maheshwari Chauhan. Maheshwari herself missed a medal in women's skeet and placed fourth. However, along with Ganemat Sekhon and Raiza Dhillon, she won the team bronze behind China and Kazakhstan. In junior mixed air pistol, Vanshika Chaudhary and Jonathan Antony won the gold by beating the qualification topper Korean team 16-14. The other Indian pair of Rashmika Sahgal and Kapil Bainsla did shoot the third best qualification score of 576, but was ineligible to fight for a medal. Gamberya Gowda and Girish Gupta bagged the junior mixed team gold, by beating Iran 16-14. Kanak and Pankaj shot the second best qualification score of 569, but were ineligible to compete for a medal. In the main mixed pistol event, Suruchi Phogat and Saurabh Chaudhary won one of the two bronze medals by beating Chinese Taipei 17-9. China beat Korea for the gold 16-12.
